The TH-950DV 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System, though weighing only 8.1 lbs (3.7kg), provides ample support for today's lighter digital camcorders. It comes with the H22DV head, providing smooth pans and tilts with no backlash or bumps, and rapid, secure camera counter balance, with a -60° to +90° tilt angle. Also included is an aluminum 2-stage tripod with center brace, offering superb strength and stability, with precisely spaced fastening to prevent tripod pinching when closing the system.

Comments about Libec TH-950DV 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System:
I am a Broadcast Journalism student and we used this model of tripod while shooting and reporting on stories for our college news class. We did not use these tripods at the volume (bi-weekly) that a normal news organization would use them (daily).
The good points about this tripod is that it's light and fairly easy to carry. The leveling system they use is very handy when you need to level-up your shot quickly.
Now, the bad points:
- The leveling system that the tripod uses becomes loose after very little use and makes it hard to pan and tilt your shots smoothly, causing a jerky motion when attempting to make smooth movements with your camera. There's too much slack.
- The center "spanner" piece of the tripod needs to be completely redesigned because after light use, the plastic connectors in the center and on the legs break off and render the spanner unusable. This has been declared a weak spot, since this has happened on more than three of the same models in one 16-week semester, using the tripod every two weeks.\
- There are small, metal shafts that work their way out of the plastic mechanism that locks the legs into place. If a person does not catch the bolt, working its way out, the locking mechanism ceases to work and you will be stuck with a bipod as the result.
- DO NOT rely on the warranty that comes with the tripod or you will be charged around $110.00 for the repair of the tripod.
- Overall, I would not recommend this tripod to anyone unless you were to only use it sparingly throughout the year and you need a lightweight tripod.
