My new Mac mini has only the new 9-pin FireWire input. My 6 year old Mac mini had the 6-pin input. This cable allows me to use the old accessories without any hassle.

Comments about Pearstone FireWire 400 9-Pin to 6-Pin Cable - 3' (0.9 m):
Good cable, but well, it's still only a cable, no magic here.
Have only had it for a couple of days, so I can't say much about it's reliability, but it looks and feels pretty study, and I expect it to last quite a while under normal use. The cable itself is pretty thick and heavy, as are the connectors.
Any cable will eventually break when abused, and I don't think this will be any different.
I use it to daisy chain my various Firewire devices (Glyph HD's, Mbox, etc), and it does a great job.
