I am a high school senior applying to music conservatories. This Auralia 4/Musition 4 software by Sibelius has been a great tool to help prepare me for the music theory class I will be taking at school. When I first launched the applications it was a little confusing to me as to what I should do next within the program, but once I picked a course it was easier to navigate. The user interface isn't anything special, but it gets the job done. Both applications are filled with drills and lessons that explain what is being taught very well. Best music theory software for anyone pursuing an education in music.

I really liked these programs. Just install it to your laptop and you have a portable music theory and ear training course to take with you wherever you go. The short lessons will fit in between other things you need to do during the day, such as waiting for the bus, or in between classes.
They are also really easy to use. They require virtually no setup. It's ready to use. The interface is very intuitive. The only thing I didn't really like were the navigation tools within a lesson, but that's honestly not such a big deal.
The lessons are very well illustrated with not just pictures but also a lot of sound samples as well.
