When you are shooting a big assignment, traveling in remote locations, your camera or flash batteries are drained and your are without access to electricity, then the ideal solution is the Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery from Quantum Instruments. This is a high voltage battery that works with most shoe- and handle-mount professional quality flash units and all Quantum Qflash, T-series and Trio/Pilot portable flashes. The Turbo 3 has the capacity to provide 1050 full-power flashes for shoe-mount and 750 flashes for handle-mount flash units.
The Turbo 3 has two outlets so you can simultaneously power a digital camera and a flash or two flashes. Cables are secured to the battery with locking sockets so you don't have to worry about a cable falling out while you are in the middle of shooting. Compatible cables for Nikon, Canon and Qflash Trio are available (sold separately).
This NiMH battery is equipped with four "fuel gauge" LED status indicators which keep you aware of how much power you have left. Recycling times average one second and it takes about three hours to fully charge the unit with the included standard battery charger.
Turbo 3 is Quantum's highest-capacity battery. It weighs only 32 oz (900 g) and can be carried around easily with the included belt clip.
- Unlike other types of batteries, the Turbo 3 uses NiMH batteries that have no "memory." You can "top off" your Turbo 3 at any time, or give it a quick charge to get a few more shots.
- Secure locking flash cables for Nikon, Canon and Qflash TRIO with the locking sockets of the Turbo 3 are sold separately.
- The Turbo 3 is supplied with a belt clip, and has fittings for an optional shoulder strap. It can also be conveniently mounted on a light stand or tripod, using the optional Quantum Battery Clamp (QBC).
- Using the two outlets on the Turbo 3, you can simultaneously power a digital camera and a flash or two flashes.
- A standard charger (100-240 volts) is included with the Turbo 3. Chargers are also available for many other countries, and for your vehicle.
- After long and/or frequent use, the internal battery can be replaced by Quantum Instruments at a nominal cost.
- To check the Turbo 3 capacity when it is not connected, depress the ON button until the "fuel gauge" LED display comes on to read the power level. The gauge will automatically turn off.

If you're like me and google over and over reading reviews and doing research to reassure yourself that this is worth the money...then trust me in saying, it's worth the money. You will be BLOWN AWAY. When I am confident in my equipment, then to me it's worth every penny.
I was using the Canon CP-E4 which I found unreliable and more of an amateur battery pack. Which is unfortunate because some rated the Canon CP-E4 with high reviews for work even like wedding photography. It's not reliable enough for paid work, which is why I purchased the Turbo 3.
The first job I used the Turbo 3 on was a fairly high stress job...being undercover to capture the marriage proposal. I couldn't miss the shot. With the Turbo 3 I didn't miss a shot, the recycle is insanely fast and still at a full charge. This battery gave me all the confidence I needed.
When you first remove it from the box you may doubt your purchase thinking it's too large and heavy. But I kept it in my shoulder bag during the shoot and didn't even notice it was there. The weight and size were nothing, and I'm a female so I imagine it will definitely be unnoticeable to a male on his belt. (keep in mind you can get a free leather shoulder strap once you register your item online when you receive it).
No more wasting money on countless AA batteries AND now having less of an impact on the environment!

As the events that I cover get larger and larger, I shoot more shots to make sure I cover everything. But the more shots you shoot the more flash you use. So you need a battery that will give you a high number of flashes and this is thew one.

I used to use the Turbo 2x2's and they were OK. They were a massive improvement over the prior model that broke down a lot. The turbo 3 is a very nice improvement over the 2x2's. They give you more flashes per charge and charge faster (or it feels like they do). They are built very well and the cord attaches to the flash with a very competent lock system (so your cord doesn't pull loose while working)!
They are not too heavy and the battery clip is as sturdy as they come.

Just bought three of these from B&H (arrived fine through UPS) and completed two shoots - one corporate portraits, the other products in studio to see how they performed. Primarily purchased because I am going over to speedlights which cuts down a whole equipement case - important these days in the light of airlines being particularly mean with photographers it seems. Would agree with someone here who didn't like the terminal covers. Also, if you are purchasing additional leeds, make sure you purchase the lockable ones - it appeared I didn't and the non-lockable ones are annoying because the Quantum packs should be mounted low on the stand to lower the centre of gravety and these leeds pop out easily. The lockable ones are fine. Generally, the result of all this has met my expectations and the Quantum packs certainly last me a day before re-charge (if necessary though, spike them over lunch). With the leeds coming with the units, I was supplied with leed clips which I assume are designed to reduce pressure on the end where they are connected to the flash units. They have useless sticky backs - just use contact glue (I have mounted them on the Phottix slaves which works well enough).

I use this battery primarily for shooting Timelapse photography in the remote backcountry. Much better than carrying and having to switch multiple single batteries for your camera. I use it for the 5D Mark III and I can shoot continuously for 24 hours with no problem. Probably more like 48 if you shut off lcd review on your camera and other extra power consumption that is not needed whilte shooting timelapse. I have also used it with 600ex flash with this camera which also works great and no problem for an entire day powering both camera and flash. Great product overall.

I use the battery with a TRIO and the combination rocks! I'm not a trigger happy person, but somrtimes the situation demands that you be, and the TRIO with the Turbo3, delivers consistency in every shot don't matter how fast you shoot! The other advantage is that you can go twice as long as any other battery before recharging, we ar talking over 1,000 shots! And finally it doesn't bust your pants belt with weight!

I bought one of these Turbo 3 to power my Quantum Trio Flash about 8 months ago and have used it on at least 30 weddings and 40-50 other shoots, generally with my Canon Mark Ds Mark IV. On a wedding is when I can really challenge this battery and almost every time it gets me through the ENTIRE day! I shoot it on QTTL at about -1 or -2 and I get so many shots out of this thing so I bought another one now for one of my other photographers. I have the "slim" just as a backup. I shoot weddings in South Florida and Cincinnati, the difference in weather conditions haven't seen a difference in performance.

Discharges power exactly as described. About 1 sec for full power, and 1/2 sec for 1/2 power. The Turbo 3 holds that recycle rate through the entire charge. I'm getting nearly 2,000 pops from a full charge using varying power settings, averaging half power.
