The Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling (Black) is a nylon bag with a memory foam interior that helps protect the delicate LCD screen. The SLR Sling wears like a backpack but allows for instant access to the SLR and accessories. A hammock system suspends the SLR above the bottom of case, providing impact protection. There is a large zippered compartment (7.5 x 3.75 x 3.0") that stores an additional lens or flash. There are 3 zippered pockets that store memory cards and other small items. An industrial strength hook and loop strap can carry a tripod. The adjustable shoulder strap with waist strap prevents the sling from jostling around during activity.

As a professional photographer who divides his time between photographing boats and marine scenics in the summer and mountain and wildlife photography in the winter I was in the market for a carry bag for my Nikon D7000. I wanted something small and compact enough to make it easy to carry while at the same time substantial enough to protect my camera and 2 lenses. Sadly, I was not able to find any cases that really met my needs but this one seemed close so I gave it a shot.

On the good news front the case is well made of high quality materials. It is also very comfortable to carry. Better yet it is just deep enough to allow me to carry my D7000 with the 70-300 mm telephoto attached as long as I remove the lens shade. While it takes a little effort, there is also enough room on the left side for the carrying strap to be tucked into the case as well.

The main pocket is also more than large enough to carry the 70-300 when I replace it with my 16-85 telephoto.

    Now the bad...

While I can't imagine ever going into the field without a spare battery, a couple of spare cards, a couple of filters, a cable release, some lens tissues, and a few other odds and ends there is simply no real place to stash these items.

There could have been, mind you, except the space was used for a "Tripod Holder" that is next to useless for serious photographers. The only tripod you could carry with this pack would be one of those wobbly tabletop jobs. Any serious tripod would be far too heavy and bulky to carry with this pack.

So what could have been a great pack is now only a pretty good one that requires you to either carry another pack for the sort of items referred to above or leave them home. I wound up using a fanny pack but in the winter when wearing a heavy outer jacket this can be a real hassle!

All this said, having owned 3 Case Logic camera packs I would have to say that this company offers great quality at a very reasonable price. Now if only they will add a decent sized pocket to this otherwise excellent pack we'll be all set.

By the way, a few reviewers complained about the zipper on the main compartment being of poor quality and hard to use. There's nothing wrong with this zipper it's just that like all zippers it doesn't like turning sharp corners when pulled at a certain angle. A simple solution is to use one of the two zippers for 75% of the opening, and the second zipper only to open the remaining short side.

With the memory foam top and suspension hammock system I felt that my camera was very well protected. My Canon 7d with a 50mm lens fit nicely into the bag. But after wearing it around I found the bag to be very awkward and annoying, as it didn't fit right around my body and I always had to wear the bottom belt with it which made it uncomfortable. Also, I know looks don't matter when your out taking photos but the bag looked some what boxy. A backpack style would have fit better. Seems like it would be a great bag to take on a hike but not for walking around town. It's sling design does make it easy to access your camera though. Great for anyone looking to just carry around a smaller extra lens, a few memory cards, and extra batteries...but not much storage space past that. I plan to return the bag but I think I'm going to stick with Case Logic.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

Designed for 1 camera with 1 extra lens and has pockets to store extra batteries and memory cards. Like the way camera sits in main pocket and its big enough to fit most cameras. It works great for site seeing if you are going to carry just what you need. It is not water resistant if caught in the rain your kit will get wet. I was expecting a little more storage for its over all size. Has a lot of padding and is well built. If you have more than 2 lenses and carry allot of extras you might want to look at something else.

This may not be the case for a professional using six lenses and many accessories, but if you are a casual phographer and want something that has room for your DSLR with kit lens, two extra lenses and room for extra batteries and a charger, this works great! It's compact, light, and keeps your camera easily at hand. It's comfortable, well made and well designed.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

First, B&H's support staff were great. This case is much higher quality than I expected. I feel secure that my camera is protected by the heavily cushioned and well-constructed bag. The wide straps are comfortable. I am most impressed by the hammock sling in which the camera body and attach lens rest. i had concerns with many slings that they might exert undue pressure upon the body/lens junction. My Nikon 5100 with a Tamron70-300 lens fits nicely in the slinged compartment. Roomy side pocket and strong zippers complete this bag

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

I bought this for my Canon t4i. The only time I had ever seen the brand Case Logic was for a CD case years ago at @. For whatever reason, and perhaps unfairly, I was skeptical of the quality. I was pleasantly surprised that mterials and workmanship on it. The memory foam that is mentioned in the original description does seem to be true memory foam, in that it is relatively firm and soft at the same time, and it returns to original shape after being pressed. I like the hammock system, as it seems to work well. The camera with a 18-135 lens fits very nicely in the bag. Not sloppy at all, and also not so tight that I cant get camera out, it seems just right. The extra storage compartment on the one end allows more than enough room for the "Giottos Lens Cleaning Kit with Small Rocket Air Blower" I bought at the same time. In that same compartment, there would be plenty of room for another lens (I put my 18-135 in it to see if it fit with the cleaning kit and there was enough room). On the other end of the bag there is a nice little pouch for lens caps, which has come in handy. I like the bright yellow interior and it should make things easier to see inside. I have used this both as it was intended, and also just as a generic carry bag when I didnt want to wear the sling and look all "geared up" in certain situations. As a backpack sling, it is very comfortable, and I have no concerns whatsoever about wearing it for extended times, even though I have only worn it for short excursions so far. The extra waist strap does help stabilize it if you feel the need, and rolls up nicely when not in use, held in place with built in velcro strapping. In general I have not felt the need to use it. I probably would if I was hiking a long ways, bending over a lot, etc. As a general carry bag, it is a little awkward because the straps become unnecessary bulk and flop around. Since this bag was not intended as a general carry bag, I do not consider this a fault, and only mention it to someone considering using this as something other than a sling. Nonetheless, it really doesnt bother me that much, and for the time being, I will continue to carry my camera in this, even those times when I know I will not be using the sling function. I do not have a tripod yet so I can't comment on that feature. When worn in back, it is quick to bring around to the front for access to the camera. I would recommend this product, and it is a good value.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

I needed a case to hold my Nikon D5300 and its two standard zoom lenses for travel and hiking. This bag does the job, and is comfortable to wear. It also has extra storage for accessories and seems padded well to protect the gear. However, it is a bit larger than I hoped, because it is hard to fit into my backpack for travel.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

TL;DR; Dropped the bag from 2 metres onto a tiled floor and all my gear was protected.I bought this from B&H over a year ago and I've been packing in my Canon EOS 60D with a Tamron 18-270 lens in the main compartment and I keep a Helios 44-3, charger, filter pouch with 6 filters, cables and covers in the side pouches. The floating main compartment is really awesome. However I wish the bed's middle hole was a bit larger (or was removable and replaceable with different beds) as my large Tamron lens was very tight fitting and it started to split a little but fortunately it didn't split more. Everything holds great inside. What really made this bag shine is it's protective factor. Last week while cleaning my room I temporarily placed the bag on top of a 2-metre high furniture and forgot about it for a few hours. Later when I opened the door of the furniture, it caught the bag's sling and pulled it off the top and dropped to the tiled floor below in a thud. I was horrified and immediately opened the bag to check on my equipment and to my relief nothing was damaged. My camera was intact and so were my lenses. The bag is padded on all sides and the floating compartment works perfectly. I don't regret buying this at all. It's perfect for on-the-go transport and shooting.

          Very Convenient Sling

          By Adam C.

          from Highland Park, Illinois

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

I bought this sling as a smaller, more compact alternative to my backpack. I needed something that I could comfortably wear around Disney World without having to carry too much gear. This sling was perfect. It is very well padded on the hip and shoulder and distributes weight extremely well. I was able to slip it on and off with relative ease and it didn't feel heavy as the day progressed (unlike when I wear the backpack). The interior was also well-padded and held my Nikon D5200 with attached lens supportively with plenty of protection. There is also another comprtment for an additional lens, which helped give me enough flexibility with shooting options. Lastly, there are smaller zipped pockets, which held a filter, extra battery and a remote. While there is no tripod holder, I fitted my gorilla pod through one of the loops at the base of the bag and it was just fine.

I use this to protect my gear when I go off-road on my motorcycle. Love the hammock suspension system for the extra protection under jarring conditions.

The neck strap surface requires that you wear a collared shirt to prevent it chafing across your neck.

Excellent and affordable protection and it holds all my stuff!

Bought this to protect my NEX7 and Zeiss lenses when I take them on my sailboat. 10 to 12 people racing a sailboat in heavy weather can be a bit hazardous to your delicate gear and this case has held them together so far. Nice main compartment with a kind of sling device inside keeps the camera from banging around. Another pocket can hold either up to a 300mm lens or perhaps two smaller lenses. Third pocket for, I don't know, a lens rag maybe. Not much room left for anything else.Pretty rugged bag suitable for keeping things intact while in this relatively small, lightweight container.

In the main camera bag, it holds my canon 5d mII with the 24-105mm or my 70-300 L series attached. The other extra space holds the whatever lens is not attached to the camera body. The extra pouch is also big enough to hold a flash instead of an extra lens. I needed a good travel bag that wasn't to bulky, but still big enough to hold enough gear for small day urban trips.

Lightweight bag. Snug fit keeps camera secured. Enough space to carry extra bits and pieces without being too bulky.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling:

I reviewed many camera slings before deciding on this model. The bag is well constructed, lightweight but not flimsy with a sleek design. Good padding on the strap as well as in the pockets plus the patented camera hammock. I've used this many times since purchasing and it has quickly replaced my other "day bag".

You won't get a ton of storage, but if you need a lot of storage then you should look for a backpack. This will hold a camera, lens, camcordor and charger in the two main compartments. The two smaller compartments will hold IDs, SD cards, keys. Hook a water bottle to the loop and attach a tripod to the outside velcro straps.

Waist strap is a good feature to keep the bag balanced and in place.

This is a great bag. It is small and has a lot of different pockets to store not only camera stuff but phone, money and other things. It is a little bigger than I have expected but it is still great!
