Looked and tested many other laptop/camera bags before deciding on this one. Needed this type of bag because I travel to Europe and Asia for extended periods of time. Here is what I take: Canon 20d, Canon 28-70mm, 50mm, 70-200mm, 3 CF cards, CF card reader, 15" Dell laptop, AC power cord, trackball, universal power adapter, large Kodak DX-7440 point and shoot, battery charger for both cameras, misc AV cords, 3 extra filters, two extra lens caps, few other misc items, and I still have room to squeeze a couple more things (I am well traveled so I can get creative). This bag fits perfectly under the airplane seat in front of you. If you're over 6ft tall you might want to put it in the overhead bin. This bag does what it is designed to do...carry your laptop and photo gear.

Things it doesn't do; carry books (plural), stuff you bought at a market, leftovers from eating out, other large non computer/photo items.

Things it could improve; weather sealed (traveled around Korea during the rainy season and everything stayed dry; I carried an umbrella most days but got caught out a few times), little extra padding on straps.

The bag holds its shape, plastic bottom is a big plus when putting bag down on wet surfaces, how camera rests in bag is awesome, excellent padding; dropped bag loaded minus laptop from bed twice, call me stupid, and everything was fine. I don't know why other reviewers gave 4 stars only. If this is 4 stars all the rest are 1 stars in my opinion. Hope this review is helpful.

This is the best bag for the $$. I am able to carry my DSLR with lens attached in the suspension system and there is also room for 5 additional lenses, battery charger, spare lens caps, filters, lens cleaning kit and still some room to spare. Love the thick padding with velcro that can be rearranged to fit your gear. Enough room in the laptop section to carry my touchscreen laptop and also a Samsung 10.5" tablet. Plenty of zippered pockets to carry extra gear.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera/Laptop Backpack:

I really enjoy using this backpack to carry around my gear. I currently carry a Canon 70D, with a Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 EX OS HSM DC mounted, a Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Art, a Canon 50 f/1.8, a Canon 18-55 STM, a Canon 55-250 STM, some small cleaning supplies and extra batteries and SD cards. The only configuration that works is with the 50-150 mounted, which isn't too big a problem since I love shooting with that lens, but it's heavy and sometimes I'd like a different default. I love the padding provided, the hard bottom and that it's quite configurable. The one downside keeping it from 5 stars is that the zipper does not open all the way making the bottom compartments very difficult to access and the flap won't stay open. However, this is minor for my uses and I really enjoy the backpack overall.

This backpack not only holds my camera in an easily accessible section that does not require opening the whole backpack, but it nicely holds my tripod on the side. Cushioning is generous and fully adjustable within the main compartment and there are several zippered pouches for smaller items such as filters, shutter release, cleaning supplies etc. Overall this has been a very good addition to my kit.

Pro's:Appears to be constructed of high-quality materials; zippers are heavy duty.Waterproof EVA bottom; sits upright when needed.Quick access to camera from the top; smart zipper-stoppers which prevent the bag to be fully opened when you're just reaching for your camera. Con's No chest strapBag does not open fully; bottom area somewhat blocked by moulded EVA bottom making access to items down there somewhat unintuitive. Overall, I would recommend this bag. I am satisfied with its price / quality ratio. I would not hesitate to purchase this bag again.

Between the rigid sides, hard plastic bottom plate and lush internal padding, your expensive gear will be fully protected. The zippers are robust, slide easily and have metal pulls (which won't break off like the rubberized ones do). As others have noted, the hard bottom plate is a very nice feature, as it not only protects against moisture if you set the pack down on a wet surface, but keeps the pack upright. The velcro zipper stops on either side of the top cover are another nice touch, giving you the option to open only the top portion of the cover for quick access. Pop the zipper stops and you can open the entire cover and get at everything.

What blew me away when I examined this backpack in person was how much it will hold if you use a little creativity in rearranging the internal dividers (super easy). The key is to get rid of the "hammock" flap and the long horizontal divider at the top of the bag. The "hammock" system sounds and looks nice, but (a) it doesn't work if there is a good-sized lens hood on your main lens, and (b) it wastes a lot of space at the top of the bag. Instead of using the "hammock," simply place your main body and lens horizontally across the bag at the very top. This still gives you a "quick access" setup, allowing you to grab your camera by opening only the top part of the cover. You won't be able to do this if your main lens is a 70-200 or larger, but I was able to fit my very chunky Nikon D300 and attached 24-70 f2.8 lens (with hood reversed), with enough room to spare for a small filter case slot on each end. (This adds rigidity to the bag sides and further protects the camera.)

Below this top compartment, separated by the full-width divider that used to hold the "hammock," I have my backup D90 body and 70-200 f2.8 zoom (with lens hood reversed). The D90 body fits standing on edge (grip end up), which also allows the tripod foot on the lens to point up so it doesn't use up extra space. Here too, the rig fits snugly and is all ready to pull out and use.

Putting another full-width divider (provided) below this, you now have a third "row" at the bottom of the bag. I divided this into 3 unequal compartments. One corner compartment holds a large SB-900 flash (folded at 90 degrees, with the head lying flat and the body sticking up). Folding the flash this way allows a TC-17E teleconverter to fit into the same compartment, in the crook of the "L" formed by the flash. In the middle of this row, separated by padded small dividers, is my 12-24 wide angle lens lying on end with the hood up. This leaves enough room in the other bottom corner to fit a battery charger and its cord. As other reviews have noted, the hard plastic bottom plate on this pack impairs access to the bottom row a bit, but even the big flash unit comes out without too much trouble. My advice is to use the bottom of the pack - - however you arrange it - - for the stuff you use least often.

Configured this way, the main compartment holds: 2 full-sized camera bodies, 3 lenses with hoods including a chunky 24-70 zoom and a large 70-200 zoom, a large flash, 3 filters (in cases), a 1.7 teleconverter and a battery charger and cord. There's also room to create another small compartment at the very top (above your main camera's lens) for stuff you don't want to stash in one of the separate pockets. I used it for the cameras' USB cables.

The pockets on the inside and outside of the cover are adequate to hold a camera manual, cleaning supplies, the end caps for your camera(s) and lenses and small miscellaneous items. The outside pocket on the cover does not expand too much, so it's best for flat/thin stuff. The other outside pocket, on the left side, is also pretty thin and fairly narrow, but quite long. With two mesh holders inside, it's perfect for memory cards and extra batteries. Cables or cords would also fit.

The laptop compartment is capacious and very well padded. It will hold up to a 17" laptop, and holds my 15" laptop plus charger with no problem and room to spare.

This pack has no waist belt or chest strap. However, unless you're hiking many miles at a time, you probably won't miss either one (much), given the small size and relatively light weight of this backpack. Moreover, both would impede quick access to your gear, since this bag has top access only and you must slip it off to get your camera out. Even with the pack fully loaded as described above, the well-padded and nicely contoured straps make it easy to carry.

The absence of a rain cover is a legitimate point of criticism. However, given the superb quality, phenomenal capacity and nice design features that you get with this backpack for a very modest price, it's not that big a deal. You can always stuff a plastic garbage bag into the laptop compartment and use that instead or - - if you live in Oregon - - buy an appropriately-sized rain cover separately.

Lastly, there are 2 wide velcro straps on the right outside to hold a tripod. The straps seem plenty strong, but due to the modest height of this pack and the absence of a "cup" or pocket below the bottom strap, I would not want to carry a full-sized tripod there. A smaller tripod or a monopod probably would be fine.

If the B&H form allowed it, I would have rated this backpack at 4.5 stars. It's not perfect due to its lack of a rain cover, a tripod "cup" and perhaps a hideaway waist belt. However, because this backpack is a superb value for the money and because the B&H rating form requires whole star ratings, I have given it 5 stars. If you're looking for a beautifully made backpack that will hold a ton of camera gear AND a laptop, yet not be too large and bulky, this is it.

Comments about Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera/Laptop Backpack:

I used this backpack for several days during a recent trip. I carried mainly photo equipment, but other stuff too.

The "hammock system" to hold a DSLR was not useful for me because of the f:2.8 zoom with hood, not even close to fit in it, but I just set it aside.

The camera with battery grip and shoulder strap fits well in its compartment (after removing the hammock).

                        Pros:
                        - Lots of interior compartments and configurable according to own needs.

                        - It seems well made, I put a lot in it which made it quite heavy but without issues.

                        - Comfortable to carry, even heavily loaded.

                        - Hard rubber base is great, it always stands (but see cons).

                        - It always maintains its shape (but see cons).

                        Cons:
                        - I would like some more pockets, perhaps exterior ones. It does include some, but it could have even more.

                        - I will try to explain this one: I listed as pros that it keeps shape and stands on its base, but this also makes it bulky and you can't make it smaller (at least while keeping some internal compartments). So even if you are carrying it completely empty it weights a bit, and you look as if you are carrying it full of stuff.
The shape you see in the pictures is what you get, all the time.

                        - A 15-inch laptop barely fits in its compartment, though usable. I would not recommend it for bigger sizes, or for carrying laptops as its main purpose.

Easy to access the camera, carries 5 or 6 lenses and all of the adapters I need, and my tripod. Very comfortable to carry and light. I will buy another one when this one wears out. I highly recommend this case.
