I've heard some bad things about cheap pan-head tripods so I was a bit nervous purchasing this, but I was not disappointed one bit!

The build quality is fantastic. This tripod is very sturdy and stable. The legs have two points to adjust, and the feet adjust themselves to the surface you're shooting on. Everything is fully adjustable and gives you a great sense of freedom. The camera mount on the head is detachable and makes it easy to take the camera off of the tripod.

Completely unextended, the tripod is very low to the ground making it easy to take macro shots. It folds up very nicely into a very small profile, and comes with a nice carrying bag making it easy to carry around. Weighing only 4 or 5lbs, it's very lightweight.

Fully extended, the tripod makes it right up to my eye level with a few inches to spare. I'm 5'11" and this is the perfect size for me. The center colomn crank and teeth seem to be of a good quality so far, and everything locks into place to keep it from moving up or down.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this tripod to any beginner, or anyone looking for a quality piece of equipment for a low price. For a panhead, it's very smooth and precise and very easy to get the shots that I want. It's lightweight and compact, yet sturdy and stands tall. I could not ask for a better product for the price!

Comments about Cullmann Primax 180 Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan Head:

i needed a new tripod but didn't want to go all out since most of my photography involves birding and handheld lenses. i needed something for the other stuff though...especially astrophotography. this tripod fits all my needs completely. no it's not the fanciest or the best but for the price...if you need a tripod to get the job done this is a great option. would not recommend for long lenses with the tripod completely extended. holds well just has a bit of a shaky issue with my 7d and 400mm 5.6L. great stability for anything else though smaller and lighter.

The base plate swivel/tilt/rotate mechanism is made of a relatively heavy duty plasitc, we'll so how it will hold up. It supports my D3100 with telephoto with no problems. It folds up nice and compact as well which is nice for hikes.

Sturdy tripod, however it seems to very slightly droop down when I have my Nikon D7100 with my heaviest, 18-105mm lens on it. I haven't played with it as much as I would have liked to yet, so there might be a way to tighten it to lessen the problem. It does keep the camera still and has helped me get some clear low light photos. Overall it's a great tripod for the price.

I mainly use the tripod with my DSLR. It's heavy duty enough to support the 300mm telephoto lens, yet light enough to carry around all day. My last tripod had a ball head & turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Panning head is okay, and good quick release head. It's a little heavy but that's good so I trust my SLR on it. The legs have this weird thin foam on it but whatever. Good for the price and much sturdier than my other tripod. Bag that comes with is it pretty good too and isn't too cheap.

Comments about Cullmann Primax 180 Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan Head:

I am an amateur photographer that was hesitant about purchasing my first tripod from an online retailer without trying it out first. These fears were completely unfounded, as I have been completely satisfied with this tripod. Nothing fancy, obviously, but it more than gets the job done. It is sufficiently stable enough that I have been able to use it on mountain slopes while hiking and skiing, and the level has proven to be invaluable.

TLDR -- Highly recommended for amateur photography.

For a cheap price this tripod works great! Of course it wobbles a little bit but what do you expect from a lower end model. I would recommend it.

i was specifically looking for a tripod that was suitable for shooting videos on my DSLR. so i needed a sturdy tripod with smooth panning and tilting movements, which this tripod has at mediocre level. i'm also on a tight budget so i couldn't afford any of the more pricey ones. this tripod is definitely usable for videos but not the best. everything else works nicely and the case is convenient. still relatively new so i haven't had any problems yet..

I just bought this tripod and I love it. I use it on my Nikon D5100 and it works great. Looks in good. The tripod legs feel pretty tough. If you just started being a photographer and need a tripod this one is awsome for the price.

This tripod seems sturdy and well made; however, I haven't had it long enough to fully evaluate it re durability, etc. It's light enough to carry, and at my age (74), that's a consideration. Note that this tripod is not suitable for video cameras -- the pan and tilt heads are rough.

Comments about Cullmann Primax 180 Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan Head:

I admit, this is my first tripod, I'm a student, and a novice. But, I did some research and shopping to find one that is affordable and hopefully durable enough to endure constant transport to and from school and shoot sites. The leg clamps hold nicely and are easy to adjust. The head pivots, swivels, and tilts easily and securely locks in place for still shots. I haven't attempted to use it as a panning motion tripod for video. It compacts to a very reasonable carrying size and weight plus I was pleasantly surprised that it included a carrying case. I'm impressed at the quality in the construction and I feel that I made a great purchase at a great price.

I purchased this for use at work for everyday snapshots. I am using a Nikon P500 and have had no problem with camera shake at full zoom (36X) and I couldn't achieve that with a couple of other models I tried. It's light, sets up quickly and is plenty sturdy for any point and shoot. Definitely a good value.
