OP/TECH puts out good quality stuff and this strap did not disappoint. The strap is similar to the Carry Speed and Black Rapid straps, except in how they attach to your camera.I choose this strap for 2 reasons. 1)Price 2)How and Where it connects to my DSLR.The OP/TECH, Carry Speed and Black Rapid all have their "quick release" versions of how they attach to the DSLR body. My issue was that I have a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket. The L-Bracket lets me mount my camera in landscape or portrait without having to reposition the ball head on my tripod. The L-Bracket is very light, so it stays on my camera 24/7. Both the Carry Speed and Black Rapid attach to the camera thru the tripod bracket threads on the bottom of the camera body or the extra/spare threads on the bottom of the L-Bracket. Unfortunately where their quick release attaches to the L-Bracket does not allow me to mount my camera on a tripod without first unthreading their quick release system. Both Carry Speed and Black Rapid make a tripod bracket/plate with the quick release attach point repositioned so you can use it with a tripod, but no L-Bracket for portrait mode. The OP/TECH quick release is attached to one of the 2 attach points you would attach your standard around the neck camera straps. It's a simple clean design. While most people will probably NOT have a need for an L-Bracket, I was happy to find that OP/TECH kept it simple. No reinventing the wheel here, K.I.S.S. * Plus I have a fear with the Carry Speed or Black Rapid threaded attach point working its way out and unscrewing from the body as I walk around. The thought of my DSLR and lens crashing to the concrete was another reason I went with the OP/TECH system.

This is a decent strap but I think it falls short of perfection in terms of usability. For the price it is ok, but not great. A traditional strap in the $20-30 price range may be better for most people. If you really want a sling style strap and can't afford to jump on the Black Rapid bandwagon go ahead and give it a try. With some DIY mods you may be able to make it work great. If you need one strap that you can use with 5 cameras, this is awesome. If time is money and you want something that is perfect right out of the box, look elsewhere.

The features I like are that I can use it with multiple camera bodies, and quickly disconnect the strap when it when using a tripod. Sometimes I like to just hand hold the camera with no strap whatsoever, so It is great that I can just release it from the camera and have the freedom to do what I want.

What I don't like is that you essentially have to make a trade off in how you mount the strap to the camera. I find that I can set it up so that it is comfortable in either landscape, or portrait, while adjusting the strap so the camera does not hang too low. This is critical as it is nice to be able to tuck the camera with your elbow to secure it when moving around. Any professionals reading this know what I am talking about.

With that being siad I was able to get it setup so both orientations are comfortable by adding a longer strap to the camera tether, however the drawback is that camera hangs lower as a result.

I think that this strap could be greatly improved by adding a tripod socket adapter. Then it would essentially do the same thing as a black rapid strap, at a fraction o the price. This is a good opportunity for a DIY solution.

Quality is ok. I bought this to use with one of my lightweight DSLR bodies, and some old fim gear. I would not trust this to hold a pro body, and $2000 lens.

      Comments about Utility Strap-Sling (Black):

I purchased this itility strap with my first camera. Upon purchasing my second, I didn't hestitate to purchase another. It puts my camera within perfect reach of my hand and I'm ready at a moment's notice. I wouldn't have a DSLR without it. Plus, my days are long on shoots and it makes life easier and my back thanks me!

Side slung camera with this strap

      By Teena

      Comments about Utility Strap-Sling (Black):

I wanted a comfortable strap to replace the strap that came with my camera and this one was recommended. It took some trial & error to get it on right & practice to take it on and off. The camera hangs loosely by your side and I don't know if I like that. I haven't used it long enough to decide if this is right for me.

I really like this strap. I've not used a sling strap before but already after short use like the utility of the strap. It's well named. It was very easy to set up and only adjustment I made was to move the attachment point to the left side of the camera from the right to allow for portrait orientation without the strap in the way. Also, it's very comfortable to wear for a long period of time.

I've attached this shoulder strap to my Lumix digital camera. It reduces the weight on my neck and provides more freedom of movement compared to the classic two-point connection camera strap. The strap is bulkier than a regular camera strap so it was a tighter fit in my camera bag. First use of the strap was confusing. It's worn like a purse.

I have the more expensive model from other brand that attaches to the tripod screw and this one is as confortable and much more practical since you can use the tripod with out disconnecting the strap. I highly recommend this product.
I use it on my D810 but for security I attached the two loops to one side of the camera not only one.

At 1st I was very nervous about hanging my camera and lens off this sling but I have used for over a month and it performs well. Still paranoid about my 70-200 hitting the ground but I was on a small hike in the woods with no issues. So much better than the canon strap that comes with the camera.

I am glad I got this sling. It is comfortable, is long enough and I am 5'9" tall. It fits on my right shoulder with my left arm through the sling. It slides up and down freely. It leaves my tripod hole free. My only complaint is that the connection is on the right side of the camera and interferes with my hand while holding to take photos. I might try changing to the left connection point on my camera.

Whether amateur or professional, this is a great strap to have easy access to your camera without the strain on neck and bumpy burden on your chest/stomach! In addition, it easily disconnects from the strap with a click to quickly mount on a tripod or put in the camera bag. Highly recommended for all users! (Tip - no need to order the extra "clips" unless you have more than two things to attach as the strap comes with two)

                                  Comments about Utility Strap-Sling (Nature):

I prefer carrying my camera across the shoulder instead of behind the neck. The OpTech sling is great for this purpose. The pad is wide, soft and comfortable even after extended use. It would be nice if it were a few inches longer without the need for the extenders.
My wife purchased one previously and really likes it, so I tried it out. I compared several of the much higher priced competitors and found them somewhat lacking.
The OpTech Sling is a great value for the money and I highly recommend it.

                                        Comments about Utility Strap-Sling (Black):

I finally found the perfect combo for travel photography! This strap fits wonderfully with a backpack on and has no additional strain on your neck or shoulders. Quick draw, comfortable carry, doesn't take up the tripod socket.

Only downside is that it does come with two clips and if you are using the one clip configuration the second clip flops around a little. I just adjust it so that part is nearest my hip.

                                        Comments about Utility Strap-Sling (Black):

I have used the Op/Tech Utility strap for about a month now. I wish I had gotten this strap years ago. I also purchased the OP/TECH USA System Connectors-Uni Adapter Loop with this. I attached the 2 connectors to the side camera strap rings. This allowed me to fit the Sling strap tighter to my body so it would stay in place when raising the camera to me eye. By using the connectors, I am able to hold the camera in portrait position by unhooking the right connector from the camera. This keeps the sling strap from getting in the way. The Sling Strap very effectively takes the weight of the camera off my neck and now I hardly notice I have a camera hanging on me. The only complaint is some minor chafing after wearing it for several hours at a time. But much better than a sore achy neck. All in all, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new camera strap.
