For a while now I've been using fingerless gloves during cold-weather shooting. This would, of course, allow me to access my camera's controls rather easily - however it would also lead to freezing finger-tips and discomfort rather quickly. I wanted something that would keep my hands and fingers warm... while still allowing me to access my camera's controls with the accuracy that only a bare finger can offer.
These gloves do the trick perfectly!
The fit is very good... and the lining keeps my hands quite warm, even in freezing conditions.
It is very easy to flip back the thumb and index finger covers... and the built-in magnets help keep the flaps secured and out of the way, so there isn't the annoyance of a flapping finger cover.
These gloves are very comfortable... and I find that movement feels very natural - and not restrictive in the slightest.
If I had to come up with a "con" - I would say that the lining in the thumb and index-finger flaps is a bit skimpy. Normally that isn't a problem... but in extremely cold weather I find that I notice that it's thinner in those fingers. Of course, in extremely cold weather I don't want to be shooting anyway - so that isn't a problem for me. I would imagine that if they "beefed-up" the insulation in the flaps it would make them more difficult to remove and put back on... and then we'd be complaining about that instead!
These gloves are so comfortable that I don't just wear them for shooting... they are my primary winter gloves... allowing me to easily use other items such as my iPhone, iPod, outdoor ATM machines, etc.. I wear them just about every day... and have no complaints about their comfort, quality, construction or durability.
I highly recommend them!

I bought this gloves less than a month for this winter and when I got them, it didn't fit. My hand is size LARGE and I bought the L size.
The first week using, it did open a hole in the seam.
I'm not satisfied and I wouldn't buy again.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
I tried those gloves only once, in sunny weather and high twenties, no wind. After one hour of hiking and shooting my 7D with grip and hand strap, my left hand was fine but my right hand was very cold. Not so much the fingertips where the gloves "open", but the hand itself. Also the gloves aren't thin and so, when closing my hand I feel some resistance. Last, I had to trade one size up, fortunately B&H made that easy. For those reasons I am not impressed at all. Let's be honest: I shot with other gloves and was cold too, so these might not be bad, maybe I was expecting too good an insulation from the "high tech for the photog" marketing. Otherwise I think they're OK. The small magnets to keep the fingertips open do work well and prevent the tip from coming back and jamming your fingers as you shoot.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
Not waterproof, and not especially warm when compared to normal winter gloves, but these gloves do allow me to operate my camera outdoors in winter much longer than with bare hands.
In cool or moderately cold weather they work pretty well. In extreme weather, not so much.
They seem well made, but not for everyday use. I expect they will last with occasional use.
There are magnets to keep the fold-back fingertips out of the way. The magnets work well, but I'm not sure how I feel about them overall, because the magnets annoyingly cling to everything that is metal.
I like these gloves, but will continue to search for something better.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
I measured my hands as directed on the product site but when I got the gloves they were too tight. I exchanged them for the next size up and they fit fine. I recently went to NY and used the gloves. The average temperature was 28-30 degrees. The gloves definitely helped, but I wish they had kept my hands warmer. The trade off may be that warmer means thicker or more expensive materials... unsure. Overall, I recommend the gloves.

I photograph cars for dealerships year round, - more than 99% outdoors - and can be at it for several hours at a time. These gloves keep me comfortable in the cold the whole time. The convertible forefinger and thumb are good to have, but I find I can do just about everything without having to pop my fingers out. Perhaps it is because of the fit. The salesman at B&H recommended I go a size larger than their measurement technique showed, and I did. He was right.

These gloves are perfect for landscape and wildlife photographers who venture out in cold, wet weather. When exposed the thumb and index fingers can be used freely and the rest of your hand stays warm and dry. They are not bulky. Be sure to check the size chart and order on the larger size.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
I ordered these gloves from the B&H web site. The gloves seem to be made very well and have a small hole for your thumb and forefinger. I have medium sized hands, so I ordered a large just to make sure I would have enough room for air to circulate to increase warmth. However, I found them much too tight and they didn't keep my hands warm even though it was only about 25 degrees outside. I was really disappointed with them and sent them back for a refund. As usual B&H customer service was very understanding and sent me the paper work in order to return the gloves. I quickly received a credit refund from them. Normally I would have purchased them by going to the store to try them, but I decided to order them off the website. I guess certain items need to be purchased in person rather than from a web site.

Received these just in time for a photo workshop in Death Valley. We were out before sunrise every day and this time of year temps in DV can get down in the low to mid 30's. After about 15 to 20 minutes, my fingers were getting very cold. If it were any colder the gloves would not have been any good at all. The finger openings were easy to get on and off, but your finger tips well get very cold. As a side note, they run small. The size chart said I needed size medium. When I received them they were too small. B&H was happy too exchange them for a large pair.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
The sizing on the site said I should be a Medium, which I knew wasn't right and I almost went with a XL (which I should have) as these weren't quite big enough either. The cuff elastic didn't even make it over my wrist bone. The fingers were OK, but not quite long enough really.
Wasn't able to test the warmth, but I kind of doubt these would be much help (40g Thinsulate if I remember correctly) for really cold temps. I'm not sure you could get much of a liner under these either. Probably good for about 40 degrees I'm guessing or lower if you wouldn't be out for hours.
Probably good for touch screens and normal ware around in cold temps, but again, probably not long exposure like some one crazy enough to be out in freezing temps photographing might be.

Comments about Freehands Men's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Large, Black):
The product is warm, but this is due to thickness. While I like the product, if you have both gloves on, you cannot get the finger or thumb exposed. (unless you use your teeth). As the gloves break in they are more flexible, but if you have settings etc to set on you SLR these are going to be a bit heavy in thickness. Overall I like them, but they may be a challenge in some situations.
