Convenient flip-back tips for thumb and index finger make this the perfect glove for outdoor cold weather photo shoots. The tips are held out of the way with tiny magnets, so you can easily manipulate all the buttons or lens focus rings of your camera, IPad, phone, or whatever. Use them for any activity where you need accurate finger work without removing the glove.
The gloves need stronger magnets for the flip parts, as they try to flip back when you bend your finger, but that is not too inconvenient.
The pvc dots make for a good grip.
Lastly, I thought Thinsulate meant thin material, but it is very thick and comfy.

The description looked great but I find that I can't do anything with those fingers with the openings without the tips opening. Even when they are "closed" there is a fairly wide opening that fails to keep the fingers warm. To be fair, the photo's show an opening even when the tips are on so this ones on me. Unfortunately I waited far to long after buying before using to be able to return them. I'll probably get the tip openings sewn closed to see if I can at least get some use out of them.

I have bought several pair of 'artic' gloves in the past, and tried wearing two pair of gloves to stay warm, but they have not worked nearly as well as these. The ability to use the camera without taking off the gloves puts these gloves in a class all their own.
I recommned them without reservation.

I have been looking for just such gloves. I have gloves with all the fingers cutoff, too cold, and also gloves with only the fingers cut off and not the thumb, which is a half baked solution. This is perfect for taking photos and changing lenses. Plus the Thinsulate insulation makes the gloves very warm.

Comments about Freehands Men's Ragg Wool Knit/Thinsulate Glove (L/XL):
The Thinsulate works well on these gloves, however there's really no way to keep the wool on the wrist area off of your skin. It seems that the default for these gloves is to have the finger and thumb exposes, so be sure you want that function before buying these. They should keep your hands warm.

I ordered these to replace an old pair of Finger Mitts that had seen a lot of use. They fit great and are really warm.

Comments about Freehands Men's Ragg Wool Knit/Thinsulate Glove (L/XL):
The L/XL is more of an XL. I didn't want them to be too small, but I should have went with a M even though I'm a L. The gloves are plenty warm. There are magnets in the opening fingers to keep them out of the way when you want them open, but a magnet is missing in one of mine so it doesn't work. [*] I should probably send them back to get a M with the full compliment of magnets, but the hassle isn't worth it as they are decent enough.

These gloves were a Christmas gift for my photographer husband and he loves them. He was out shooting ice crystals, snow flakes, frozen puddles and frozen bark for 4 hours in nearly sub-zero weather up here in New Hampshire and could work his camera and keep his hands warm. Highly recommended!

First time use was in Minnesota where the temperatures were between zero and freezing. We were shooting birds on a melted stretch of the Mississippi river (just down stream from a nuclear power plant). Everything else was frozen solid. The magnets were not strong enough to hold the folded flaps back, but the flaps didn't get in the way much anyway. The exposed finger and thumb used to turn dials and press the shutter button nearly froze off, but the rest of my hands and fingers were plenty protected from the elements. The grips were good. Camera and related equipment could be held securely and gloves were flexible enough to feel what I was holding.
