The Canon RS-60E3 Remote Switch is a compact wired remote switch with a 2.0'/0.6 m cable which replicates all functions of the camera's shutter release button. Handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure.
Note: Compatible with G10, G11, G12, EOS Digital Rebel series, 60D, Elan II/IIE, Elan 7/7E, Rebel Ti /2000/G/GII/X/XS, IX/IX Lite, and EOS Rebel T4i.

I bought this for use with my Rebel XT (350D) and it's been great. When mounted on a tripod, this remote helps completely get ride of any camera shake, even that caused by simply pressing the on camera shutter button. So far I've used it to shoot models, cars, and scenery and it's paid for itself. Great remote for the money.
Cable is just the right length. Multi-function button is perfect to get AE/AF lock and then take the picture.
Only down side is I always reach for the wrong part of the remote - they put the button on the side where the wire comes out so that when it dangles from your camera, the button is already on top; but I always try to correct for where I think the button should be (so by making it more ergonomic they made it seem backwards). I should get used to this over time though.
I prefer this to my wireless RC-1 which only gets use for self portrait work.

Having driven myself mad trying to get a decent night shot of my city skyline I finally realized what I needed was a remote trigger. While I bought it expressly for this purpose I now find I am using it pretty much always.
This is a 2 stage trigger, light pressure to focus and heavy to trip the shutter. When in manual focus you will do well to remember this.
So far it has stood up to being dropped and knocked about a fair bit and hasn't shown any worse for the wear. This is a pretty basic trigger and could stand to have a longer cable but it does what I need it to do. I like that when in bulb mode I can lock the trigger open so I don't have to keep holding the button down, but due to short cable length I still wind up standing there holding the darn thing.
Overall it is what it says it is, I've not owned it for long but have put it through its paces and it has been very reliable. My only real complaint is when shooting wildlife it feels a little sluggish to actually trip the shutter.

Comments about Canon RS-60E3 Remote Switch:
I use this when shooting on a tripod, mostly for close-up and macro work. Having lost my old one out in the field somewhere, I purchased an inexpensive wireless remote, thinking one of its uses would as a replacement for the RS-60E3. However, it uses batteries, has 3 parts to keep track of, and one part fits in the hot shoe, so it was back to the simple, straitforward wired remote. I take off one star for the expense and the fact that it can come loose from the camera in the field and get lost. I usually thread the cord through the camera strap to keep from losing it if it comes loose from the camera.

just want a remote to take a pix with out a timer on a t41 seems like this thing only works with 10 sec timer. Wire less remote only works from in front. might work with video?

Comments about Canon RS-60E3 Remote Switch:
This works well for my Canon G1X and my G12. I like the compact size, easy to wrap up tight. Even half-press pre-focus works with this device. I bought another brand that was supposed to work with Canons, but the plug was too long. This one fits properly. I look forward to using it more for landscapes with a tripod.

This remote switch works exactly as advertised. Some reviewers have complained that the cable is too short, but I purchased it knowing the length. Mostly won't be a problem, but could be less useful on occasion.

Not exactly the most exciting product but it does what it is designed to do. Very useful for tripod mounted shots. Much preferred to using the self timer for long exposures.
