Comments about Korg MR-2 1-Bit Hand-Held Digital Audio Recorder:

I am using this recorder since about 2 weeks now and I am VERY satisfied with it. The unit is compact, very easy to use, has a very low noise, and sounds just great! I bought it to record musicians live performance and interview but now, I am nostly using it as an hi quality "Ipod". The only reason why I give 4 stars is the lack of FLAC files support (like other recorders). I don't like MP3 file format because I ear some undesirable artifacts that I don't ear with FLAC. So I have to uncompress thoes files to WAV to be able to listen to my favorite music on the MR-2. But this workaround is not a huge concern because hi capacity memory cards are now affordable.

Comments about Korg MR-2 1-Bit Hand-Held Digital Audio Recorder:

This by far is the most powerful handheld unit! Take a few minutes to examine the awesome sample rates & overall specs. No one else comes close.DSD recordings sound amazing! The bad news is the onboard microphones are tinny, dull, blah.. Yuck. If you plan to use an external microphone, preamp, or just line in then this unit is the best deal around! Again, the onboard mics do not represent the sonic power of this little machine!MR2 in the field? It's freakin' durable, I trekked through the jungles of Belize with this unit. It behaved beautifully in some very serious humidity. Just don't forget to bring along a good extermal mic or preamp/mic. The Korg engineers dropped the ball on the internal microphones. But, same deal with the MR1. I give the Korg MR2 five stars for sound quality & affordability. I also recommend pairing the Korg up with the SoundDevices Mix Pre D. I've had amazing results!Cheers friends!

Comments about Korg MR-2 1-Bit Hand-Held Digital Audio Recorder:

I bought this as an upgrade to my Olympus DS30. I also considered purchasing a Sony PCM-M10 or Olympus LS-11. Intended uses: Recording voice (spoken) and classical music performances. I'm a musician, so tuner is a plus. It seems to be very capable and well built with impressive specs for a hand-held unit. The case has a "rubberized" feel and the unit includes most features I want and--even more importantly--none I don't. I love the straightforward menus and easy operation. Screen is small, but fine. Included software works well. Korg customer service was truly outstanding the one time I needed it. Only two downsides so far: Wish it had a speaker in addition to 3mm headphone jack for output, and battery life is about average with alkaline cells.
