Comments about Panasonic Compact HD/SD Live Switcher:

We love this little box. Doesn't take long to learn the setup, very configurable. Also picture quality is fantastic! Can't find any bugs. If you need to cut a small event you won't be disappointed. We also use it in SD mode with composite/component to SDI converters in and out with great results. This allows us to keep using our old SD cameras and VTRs and camera timing issues are gone. We use the picture in picture functions frequently in a surgical teaching environment, we can move the pip box exactly where we want it and the size we want. We don't do much keying so can't comment on that. Also we haven't needed any technical assistance so don't know about that ether.

Comments about Panasonic Compact HD/SD Live Switcher:

This switcher is perfect for the person looking for a powerful solution in a small package. I have used this and the HMX-100 and both are great products, but when you need to go mobile or just don't feel like having a big mixer at your event, this switcher fits the bell well.

Comments about Panasonic Compact HD/SD Live Switcher:

We purchased this switcher to use as a sub mixer to feed multiple laptops and our main switcher into a Watchout system. This little gem has all the power and features (well not all, but most) of it's much bigger brother (the HS450N) which we have and love. The menu's and setup procedures are identical to the HS450N. For the price I don't have a bad thing to say about it.

Comments about Panasonic Compact HD/SD Live Switcher:

-We use this switcher in a projection room. We have 1 Multi Region DVD player, 1 NTSC DVD player, 1 blu-ray player, a Mac Pro with BlackMagic card (Need to set FCP to output 23.98 to 59.94 conversion 10-bit), and a laptop via DVI.
-We used BlackMagic mini-converters to convert the DVD players and Blu-Ray to an SDI signal. After much fussing around, we finally got all of them to work.
-The switcher takes a bit of playing around with to get set up properly. We have a fair amount of experience with switchers and professional video formats, and it was far from painless to set up...however, it is now all working.
-Documentation is poor, and tech-support is non-existent. Panasonic acted as if the model has been discontinued when we called for support, in fact referring us to the user manual for help on up-converting the DVD sources. Thanks guys.
-I would purchase it again, as projecting for class, and switching between formats on the fly is impressive. All sources are up-converted to 1080i.
-We no longer need to change the zoom of our projector to match the different sources, which has been a life saver.
-NTSC and PAL works fine. There is slight distortion in the PAL DVD signals, but nothing the untrained eye would notice.
-Multiviewer is impressive, with plenty of setup options that work for you. Just remember it is SDI or DVI out only, so you may need to get another SDI to Analog mini-converter to send to a non-SDI monitor.

Comments about Panasonic Compact HD/SD Live Switcher:

Used for multicamera live switching of Dance Recitals and other concerts. Small, lightweight and simply does what it says. Fantastic multiviewer output that is almost worth the price by itself in that it saves you buying, carrying and setting up so many monitors for every job. Works with a standard DVI computer monitor. Downside is limited audio path choices, and no analog output.

The quality, ease of use and features makes this unit worth every penny. One problem though, if you are moving to digital from an analog environment, you may want to save more money because it looks that good and you will want to get that quality recorded or displayed!!
