Good clear view I compared to a pair of 10x42 the 10.5 x 45 is so much clearer and a good pair for hunting. Crystal clear picture and stable.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

I've had these binoculars for a couple of weeks now, and have tried my best to find fault with them. I'm happy to say I've found none. I was somewhat expecting the fast focus on these to be a problem, but I've actually found it to be a benefit. I can use these with or without my glasses on, all looks great either way. The locking diopter adjustment and extendable eyecups are nice, but I do wonder how well they will stand up to time & use. What I like most is the low light dusk/dawn vision with these. I know it will be a major plus for big game hunting. Haven't tested the waterproofness yet. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.

I have had the Endevours now for 2 weeks and they are by far the best set of glasses I've owned. I had a set of Eagle Golden Eagle HD 10 x 42 (stolen from my car), paid almost twicw as much and find the Vanguards better in all respects. I use these for birding, and hunting. The only thing I could wish better is that the case had a seperate pocket for storing cleaning stuff. B&H was the lowest price I could find, and the shipping service and cost was 5 star.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

I plan on using these binoculars for open desert canyon landscape. The 10.5x45 selection I believe will give me a great combination of power and objective lense size. After reviewing many brands from the 300-1000 range, the endeavors matched them all in quality of lenses and build. Some were a little lighter but the endeavor price made the choice for me.

I will be using these in open desert deer hunting. They are really bright and perform great in low light. They have a real quality feel. I compared them to binoculars up to $700 dollars but choose them for the 10.5x45 combination of power and objective lens and for a much better price.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

I am an intermediate birder who was looking for a bit more power than my 8x42 Vortex binoculars. After reading several highly favorable reviews of the Vanguard 8x42's, I decided to give the 10.5x45's a try. I am exceptionally pleased with the quality of the binoculars, particularly given the low price. The build quality is very good, with good eye relief and easy focusing. Most higher-power binoculars are 10x42 while these are 10.5x45. The slightly bigger glass helps these bins gather about as much light as the 10x42, but the weight is only a bit more noticable than that of my old 8x42's. The bird images in good light are outstanding, with very bright color and with eye rings much more visible relative to my 8x42's. It is possible that the image and brightness might be noticibly better in a pair of binoculars costing 5 times as much, but I would definitely recommend making a direct comparison before paying so much more for a minimally better image.

I have only noticed three possible issues relative to the binoculars themselves. First is a greater tendency to have light reflected from my cheek into the eyepiece unless I'm careful to get a light-seal between the eyepiece ring and my skin. It's possible that this is a common trait of higher-magnification binoculars, but I haven't noticed it before. The problem is easily solved by slightly repositioning your head relative to the eyepiece when it occurs.

Second, if you have very narrow-set eyes, it is possible that you will not be able to move the oculars close enough together for your eyes. In order for my wife to use these (and she has difficulty finding binoculars which have a low enough inter-eye distance) I had to pull off the removable lens caps, giving her another 2 mm of "scrunch space".

Third, the minimum focus distance is, in my hands, almost 9 feet. This might be an issue if you also look at butterflies or tend to be very close to the birds you observe, but I also observe butterflies and don't find it to be an issue, except when someone steps in front of me because I'm farther back from the butterfly and they don't know I'm looking at it.

Assuming narrow set eyes and butterflies aren't a problem for you, the only real con involves not the binoculars, but the case. The zipper clearly isn't designed to allow the binoculars to be put into the case with the harness attached and then be able to close the case. This is easily accomplished with most binocular cases, but not this one. It should be changed to a standard design.

Also these binoculars don't have an available Vanguard shoulder harness (or at least I couldn't find one). I purchased an Op/Tech three point harness which works fine and is very inexpensive, although it was somewhat difficult to squeeze the loops into the fixed attachment points on the binoculars- but it can be done, or you can use a small intermediate metal ring between the bins and the Op/Tech loop.

I would remind any inexperienced birders that most birders seem to prefer 8x42's to the 10x bins (or 10.5 in this case). The extra field of view helps them get on the bird faster, and hand-shake is less of an issue. However, this is highly personal, and I seem to get on the bird faster with these, because I can see the bird better.

I am a birder and recently purchased a pair of Vanguard Endeavor ED 10.5X45 to replace my old bins. I love these binoculars! They provide a vivid image with excellent sharpness and clarity, only require a quarter turn to adjust the the focus, and have an open bridge design. They are an excellent binocular for any price, but are priced very reasonably.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

I have looked through Leica, Zeiss, and Swarovski binoculars and these are either their equals or close enough that my eyes can't tell the difference. These cost [$], the others cost more than $2000. They are also ergonomically the equal of the top binoculars and much better than my older Leicas. The only drawback that I have noticed is that it is sometimes difficult to find focus - this may be due to the high geared focusing knob which only takes about 3/4 of a turn to go from near to far focus. NOTE:High power binoculars like these are not a good choice for the novice. If you are a beginner you will be much happier with 8 power lenses. In fact, even many experienced birders prefer 8 power binoculars because of the wider field of view and steadier image. If you do want a higher power binocular, however, these are an excellent choice.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

Your first words will be..."WOW"! I had never heard of the Vanguard line prior to doing research for a respectable pair binos. Like most people, you start at the high end and try comparing those models specs with a price point you think you can afford. Yes, I looked through $2500.00 Swaro's, $2200.00 Zeiss and $1800.00 Leupolds... they were wonderful - BUT, ouch! Really??? Sure, they were in fact nicer than the +$500.00 various models. Somehow, "Birders" are suppose to be the great seers when it comes to binos, so I looked at what 'they' had to say in general about bino specs. Findings: Those "Birders" are generally retired, older, wear glasses and unfortunately seem to fall into the category where if it's expensive- it 'must be' better, or "if no one else in the club is using some unknown pair than they must not be worth it", mentality. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are all wonderful people, but maybe a bit jaded and stuck with traditional 'hi-end names'. However, some of them actually tried these Vanguards and were VERY impressed that this quality of glass could be had for this 'little bit of money'. I also looked at the Nikon Monarchs, and some hi-end Bushnells too. But, without even holding them in hand, I decided to go for the Vanguards. The box arrived, I opened the box and lifted out the new glasses. Hmm, impressive feel. Balanced, rubberized, solid feel. Then the real test... climbed to a high observation platform, removed the eyepiece/objective covers and looked through for the first time. A very slight but smooth firm touch to the focus brought the most wonderful picture into view. "No Way... are you kidding me?" I could not believe the clarity and brilliance of these binos. I'd remove the binos look into the distance towards the same spot - return to the glasses. It was absolutely ridiculous just how perfect the view was. I focused on some flying swallows and literally could see the color and impeccable feather detail of these birds at 300 yards. I could barely see them with my unaided eyes - had I not first seen them through the binos. Then about 500 yards I captured a Great Blue Heron. I could see every detail of that bird and how the slight breeze was lifting a few of his feathers as he wadded in the marsh. Now I'm no 'birder', but I think I'm NOW beginning to 'see' what this is all about. I also noticed a Cormerand (sp?)(water turkey) just had just come out of the water and had stretched out its wings to dry. I could vividly see the actual water droplets falling from off its back. I was stunned. I had also brought along an old pair of Jason 10x50's that I had received as a gift years earlier that I had always thought were nice... HA!!! It was like comparing a Cracker Jack toy prize race car to a real life Maserati! Incomparable!!! The $75.00 (cheap) Jason's were SO dim and slightly fuzzy as compared to the incredibly bright & brilliant Vanguards. I never knew what I was missing. On the cheap model you have to focus back and forth to get it just right - on the Vanguards you just touch it and you are dead nuts on. And smooth... it's almost like the focus knob is gel filled and absolutely no slack - just pure precision! I got these glasses because we will be heading down to the rain forests of Costa Rica and to the Volcanoes. I needed waterproof, fog resistant, comfortable non-slip grip and good eye relief with power & a nice sized objective. After experiencing this quality and physically holding the Swarovski extreme hi-end glasses in comparison... these Vanguards (10.5x45) are incomparable for quality and price. Stop chasing that "name" for perceived quality and get your hands on these. They are amazing AND you'll get to keep that extra $2000.00 in you own pocket. Hope this helps your buying process - sorry for the rambling, but these are "THE" Bino's that you're looking for.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

I was looking to upgrade my binoculars for birding and when I saw the review for this in a birding magazine, I couldn't resist. I thought I was taking a risk since Vanguard was not being used by anyone I knew! It's especially comfortable, easy to use, and the lens is so sharp - comparable to those in much more expensive binoculars I had been considering. Can really see a difference out in the field with a 10.5 x45 even though I didn't realize that size would make for better viewing. Found it best to use a harness to compensate for a bit extra weight.

Comments about Vanguard Endeavor ED 1045 10.5x45 Binocular:

These are remarkable binoculars! They are very clear with crisp focus and absolutely no color fringes that I can see. They compare very favorably with my other binoculars which cost 4-5 times as much. My only criticism would be that the focusing wheel is very touchy; a tiny turn makes things move in and out of focus. They are also quite heavy but for 10X binoculars, that is to be expected. Time will tell how they hold up in the field. Overall, I think they are excellent and a super buy.
