Comments about Wolverine 320GB PicPac II Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:

I recently purchased this item for our trip overseas, and lucky I did... every day I was doing backups at the end of each day and a few days before we started heading back our memory card said data corrupted first thing in the morning. It was an old memory card so I was kind of expecting it to die sooner or later, but thanks to the wolverine portable backup we didn't lose a thing. recommended all my friends and family to get one.

Comments about Wolverine 320GB PicPac II Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:

I used this product to back up video on a recent trip to Raja Ampat. Domestic airline weight restrictions appeared to make it impractical to take a laptop so I got this device instead. My wife had her own Nexto along which she has used in pro photography situations, that proved to be at least 10 times faster than the Wolverine for backups. Because of the size of the video being stored I couldn't use hers. I chose this particular device because of cost, I was uncertain if I'd ever be using it again after this trip since I knew a laptop would be the normal preference. Because of the storage size I will still have the device along, but it will simply be as an external USB hard drive for backups, universal card reader and an emergency device if the laptop fails.

I had several times where I questioned if the card had been backed up properly because it would auto power off after finishing, leaving no feedback on whether the copy was successful, even though I had the device plugged into wall socket. The device does not have any browsing features on it, you can only find out how much disk space has been used. At a minimum I'd go with a backup device that allows browsing if I ever need to get another one of these.

The device did fail to do backups for me a couple of times due to files having been copied from a Windows 7 machine onto the card (the Nexto also failed on this card).

Comments about Wolverine 320GB PicPac II Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:

So I planned on using this to back up my CF cards during my events that I take during the year. I thought it would be great to have an additional backup so peace of mind was there if something happened. I charged up the battery fully..just like the instructions said then I used it once to upload about 15 pictures to test it out. I shut it off...and it never turned back on. I tried plugging it in again. Pressing the buttons. Nothing. Keep in mind I had it for a day...it still had the plastic on the front and back. I am very disappointed and plan on taking it back asap. For [$] it works out to quite and expensive..but short lived portable backup system.

Comments about Wolverine 320GB PicPac II Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:

I often travel for weeks at at time and need a large capacity storage device. I used the Wolverine 7000 for several years and am happy with it but need more storage. Never had a serious problem. Good support at Wolverine.
If you are backing up photos and also using an Epson P5000, be sure to store the card in the PIC PAC first. It will not corrupt the files as the Epson might.

Comments about Wolverine 320GB PicPac II Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:

Charged the unit overnight as instructions directed. Unit would not properly recognize 3 different CF cards, Sandisk 8GB Extreme IV, 4GB Extreme III or 1GB Ultra II. Pushing buttons or front panel would cause the display to go blank. Tech support not a toll free call. [...]Look elsewhere for digital storage. I subsequently bought a Colorspace UDMA unit which is working flawlessly with much greater battery capacilty and backup speed.
