When used with the cotton carrier system it works really well when you are using the camera in the horizontal position. Can get in the way when you want to rotate the camera body to the vertical position though. I'm using one with a Pentax K10 and Pentax K7, on both of them it does tend to interfere slightly with the sd card door.

It does help to get a hold of the camera when ready to "un-hook" the camera from the carrier, it feels like it's a quick draw type of set up.

Had students at school who saw me wearing a hip holster and then the hand carrier and they thought of me as a "camera-slinger" ready at any photo opportunity.

I Hate It! It Wrecked My D7000

This blasted hand grip caused my 1 month old Nikon D7000 to fall off my tripod. That fall broke my 18-105mm Nikkor right off the body, damaging both lens & body!

Since 1962, this is the only camera that I've EVER dropped. I love my D7000, now my heart is broken.

I had it installed around my D7000 w/ MB-D11 Battery Pack, using the "Quick Release Plate" from my "Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod" to attach it at the bottom. I was shooting with the whole thing on my tripod, when the 1/4-20 screw of the Manfrotto popped out of the MB-D11, and the camera fell over 3 feet onto a stone patio. On a tripod, that 14-20 screw is the only thing holding the camera to the tripod.

The rubber pad at the bottom of the "Cotton Carrier Hand Strap" is too thick and too springy. I guess it caused the 1/4-20 screw of the "Manfrotto Quick Release Plate" to work itself out of the "MB-D11 Battery Pack." Then there was NOTHING holding the camera to the tripod. Since it naturally fell forward, and I being behind the tripod, I couldn't even catch it because the tripod was between us.

My camera is a wreck! I'll be taking it to the Nikon El Segundo repair facility tomorrow (Monday). This is going to cost me a small fortune to repair! I'm just sick! My CAMERA! The sound of it hitting the stone was terrible!

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

Most grips are to constraining if you tighten them down tight enough to work well for carrying. I like this grip because it fastens with velcro which makes it easy to synch down tight or lossen when you need more hand movement. I do not recommend using it with the rubber pad that it comes with. I attach mine to my Kirk L-bracket which has a slot for the strap to thread through. I got this with my Cotton Carrier and I'm buying another one for a second camera.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

Comfortable and convenient to use. Requires the Cotton Carrier Hub for the longer screw to connect or one from the hardware store. A must have if you already have the Cotton Carrier. The OEM Canon neck strap would be a huge inconvenience with this system.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

I reviewed the Cotton Carrier and gave it 1 star. The rubber puck with the screw that attaches to the camera's tripod socket will work itself loose and come out without warning. My camera fell right out of the holster, leaving the puck in the holster.

I purchased the items within a half hour of B&H closing for a holiday. I was in a rush, the computer system was experiencing a glitch, and when the product came up, it was open and I later discovered incomplete. Whatever is needed to attach the handstrap to the camera bottom was not in the package.
In spite of that, I've always used the Canon E-1 Handstrap and can see it is superior to the CC strap.

The hand strap is very useful for those needing to keep the camera a little more secure, but I find it cumbersome to use then I need to recompose my shot from horizontal to vertical. I need to remove my hand from the strap to use the vertical release button. This takes time and I could miss the shot by the time I remove my hand and reset the camera. I shoot the Nikon D2H series camera.

The hand strap came free with the purchase of my Cotton Carrier system. The strap afforded a sense of security when carrying my Nikon D300s without a neck strap but made shooting quite challenging. When the strap was adjusted for optimum carrying comfort the controls were nearly impossible for me to reach. Loosen the strap to reach the controls and you loose the sense of security. Good idea but I was unable to get comfortable with this product. At least it was free!

The outer thick strap of this carrier was too long compared to the height of my camera. It did not fit snuggly or improve the ease of which I carry my camera. I give it 3 stars for the design and quality, it seemed fairly durable. Perhaps it would work with a different model of camera than mine (I have the Canon Rebel T1i).

I bought this to go with my Cotton Carrier Lite. If you use the tether on the Cotton Carrier, I am not sure this is necessary. I have had a little trouble deciding how to wear it so that my index finger and thumb can reach all the controls. So, I have it a little loose and like it better, but then it isn't doing much.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

I bought the hand strap with my cotton carrier a few weeks ago to use with my Canon 5D Mark II, particularly with the 70-200 f/2.8 lens. I tried the hand strap initially but was disappointed with it right off. The main problem was that in order for the strap to fit my (small/medium) hand and be useful in terms of camera stability and support, it had to be cinched down significantly. Once I did that, I no longer had the ease of movement that I like for quick camera adjustments with my right hand. I was unable to smoothly adjust the ISO, focus point, or any other of the right hand buttons. It was definitely still possible to use the hand, just not as easily or smoothly as I prefer. It is possible that if you have a large hand, you might like the hand strap (although along those lines, my husband, who has very large hands, did try it and also felt it was restrictive in terms of right hand buttons). Now having said that, if you do not normally change ISO, focus points, or other right-handed adjustments, you are likely to love the hand strap, as it certainly does provide the security, stability, and support that one would hope for on a large camera, while being rid of the hanging shoulder strap that is generally in the way. I ended up leaving the Canon shoulder strap on the camera and using it that way with the cotton carrier. Not as sleek, a little more bulky... but it works, and I can still use the buttons I need.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

Used this to help hold the camera with the Cotton Carrier system. Found that I needed to keep it loose so I can rotate my grip enough to operate the camera controls on the Canon 40D I'm using it on.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

I have the CCS 100 System and it works fine. I also bought the RC2 Adapter for my Manfrotto tripod. It works fine on the tripod. However, the way the rubber pad has to be seated on my Nikon D7000 is a problem and makes the Hand Strap unusable for me. The problem is that the rubber pad has to be orientated to the side opposite where you would affix the Hand Strap (i.e. the grip side). To do otherwise causes the rubber pad with the hole for the Hand Strap to significantly cover the battery compartment. Even though the rubber is somewhat flexible, it is not possible move it enough when batteries have to be replaced. Bottom line -- it doesn't work.

This is almost essential when using the Cotton Carrier system. Makes it so much easier both to get the camera off and on the carrier, and also makes it more relaxing to carry the camera in your hand when out of the carrier.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap without Hard Anodized Hub/Screw:

I shoot photos for our local drag strip and carry my pro DSLR all day long. It gets to feel pretty heavy after long hours of shooting. The Cotton Carrier Hand Strap helps ease the stress of holding the weight of this camera and also allows me to feel more secure in holding it at my side, without having to worry about the camera falling out of my grip while in this position.
