Comments about Vanguard ALTA + 234AB Aluminum Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head (Quick Release):
This was my first higher quality tripod for personal use. I like the sturdiness and the build quality, very solid. Although it's a bit heavy, I like the feel. The ballhead is quite versatile but I believe it has two drawbacks... the quick release requires the use of a coin/key/screwdriver to attach and remove the plate from the camera. Then the quickrelease button is located in an awkward place, I've bent my thumbnail back a couple times because the plate slides over the button, mounted on the side would be better. Also, you have to use two hands to reposition the camera with the ballhead. (as opposed to a pistol-grip setup) Having four sections makes it a bit shorter, but requires three more clips to set it up.

Comments about Vanguard ALTA + 234AB Aluminum Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head (Quick Release):
I think its value for money, its lightweight but very sturdy build and works in many angles and adjustment levels.when contracted its easy to carry with the bag provided in the package.Only thing in future will be needed is more ball heads in case one has larger lenses which requires extra support.

Comments about Vanguard ALTA + 234AB Aluminum Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head (Quick Release):
I am a nature photographer and as such have need of a tripod on more than a few occasions. While not a "pro" as such, I do want to create the best possible shot every time. Shooting butterflies, water scenes, and hummingbirds, I find, requires the use of a tripod and this recently purchased Vanguard Alta fills the bill. It is a bit heavy, so I would not want to trek through the Sahara with it, but the advantages of a reversible center shaft and very adjustable legs, more than compensates for the weight. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced but feature packed tripod.

Comments about Vanguard ALTA + 234AB Aluminum Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head (Quick Release):
I use this tri-pod for my spotting scope when shooting rifle at the range.
It is very sturdy and I was surprise with the light weight of this tri-pod.
I had cheap $40 tripod before and it moved and was heavier than this tripod.
i would probably get another one for my camera too since I need 2~3 tripod to film me shooting rifle.
I could also take this to hiking since it is very light weight!
I would recommend this product if you are looking for a not too pricy not too cheapy sturdy light weight tripod. I would not recommend this for a pro-camera person because of the small ball head. That's been said, still my huge Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope will hold in place with this small ball head.

It's a great tripod for the price, although not as light as I'd like. The ball head is great for quick re-adjustments and it's super easy to set up.

i have nothing negative to say---breaks down just as easy it is to set up---quick release, no problem---i use a canon d7 with different lenses and i love the fact that there are no handles getting in the way of my shooting--

Comments about Vanguard ALTA + 234AB Aluminum Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head (Quick Release):
I purchased this tripod for use in scenery and wildlife photography, especially birding. It is well made and suits my purposes. I like the variable angle legs and the fluid feel of the ball head when panning. I'm also glad it extends to the height it does, for any shorter for me would be a pain. Only negative is its weight, but the carbon fiber ones are too pricey to justify shaving only a few ounces.
