Sony's Nature Sounds Clock Radio is more than meets the eye. Yes, true to its name this radio gives you a choice of five distinct nature sounds which to wake or sleep to: Ocean, Birds, Rainfall, Babbling Brook, or Under-the-Sea. These soothing sounds will transport you to another place, while also respecting the most sensitive times of day with their gentle delivery.
What isn't readily apparent about the Nature Sounds Clock Radio is the built-in wall projector. The integrated projector displays the current time on your wall. There's no need to crane your neck or fumble for the clock thanks to this unique feature. However, should you choose to utilize the display, its bright blue-backlit design makes it easy to see and read, day or night, as well.
When it comes to design, this radio is anything but conventional - sleek yes, but standard fare, no. The modern and simple design of the Nature Sounds Clock Radio makes it as pleasant to view as it is to listen to. In addition to the projector, the radio also sports a built-in 3.5mm audio in jack for connecting your portable audio devices. Play music from your iPod, laptop, or other compatible devices, sans headphones - day or night. Like the name suggests, you can enjoy the radio too; preset up to 5 stations from both the AM and FM dial to keep your favorites available at a touch.
The Nature Sounds Clock of course has alarm clock specific features. Aside from the nature sound sleep and wake options you can set the dual alarm to 2-5-7 day alarm schedules as they meet your needs. Should you need some extra shut-eye, the extendable snooze lets you do just that. In addition to the nature sounds you can also choose to wake to the AM/FM radio. And when Daylight Savings Time arrives the built-in 100 year calendar automatically makes the needed adjustments.

I have used the clock radio for 1 week. I like the digital radio and push buttons for 5 fm and 5 am stations (should have been 8 fm and 2 am!), although the buttons are quite small and somewhat difficult to use in the dark, as is the Alarm Off button. The sound is acceptable. The projection is excellent, and can project on to a wall or ceiling, and the angle of projection can be flipped all around by the touch of a button on the back of the unit. It's footprint is small. It includes a wire fm antenna as almost all clock radios have, and has a separate am antenna for those always difficult to tune in am stations. The clock face is fairly easy to read, and the projection is even easier but can really only be seen in the dark. The projection goes well over 2 meters as stated in the packaging. Setting the clock and alarms is easy once you get the hang of it; I spent a couple of hours with the instructions to get to know the features.
It has two separate alarms, and you can set them to wake you with different stations. You can also listen to one station before bed and wake to another (set with the alarm, and a great feature; available because everything is digital). You can even set different volumes for sleeping, waking and with each alarm. The snooze works fine and is easy to use, and using it won't easily turn off the alarm completely since the alarm off button is completely separate. The temperature feature is nice to have; know the temp of your sleeping room! You can also set the alarms to go off daily, week days, or weekends.
I am pleased with the clock radio, its size, features and ease of use. I recommend it. Could even be used for travel, but must be plugged in. Would be small enough for any suitcase; not sure I'd recommend it though.

Something new and different.
A clock radio is a clock radio. However, the nice feature is the Digital Projection of the time on the ceiling. Something new and different.

Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
This clock radio offers decent sound, AM, FM, and "nature sounds" to either awaken to or sink into slumber. It is compact and looks sleek and offers the ability to project the current time onto your ceiling or wall, if you choose.
The downside, some very confused programming options! It took several tries to select an FM station to awaken to, with the clock seemingly insistent on choosing the AM band instead. The programming instructions could be written a bit more clearly, but I hope to get good use from this product.

Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
Loving this clock so far. I agree with most of the positives and negatives already listed by other users. Here is a quick run-downs of the pro's and con's for me: It would be nice if the projection clock stayed on permanently if turned on, instead of turning off automatically after 10 hours. I prefer to keep the backlight completely off (which is hard to find on many alarm clocks), but I can see where other users would get annoyed that the backlight is either too bright or too dim at the other settings. It would also be nice if some of the more important buttons (such as alarm off) had some tactile feedback so you know which button to hit in the dark. As it is, the alarm off button is in the middle of a bunch of other buttons - not a big deal for me as I have memorized where the buttons are now but you could also put a dab of glue or nail polish on the button to make it stand out. I love the versatility of having the sounds, alarm, or radio, as well as being able to have it ramp up the volume gradually instead of starting off full-blast. I would definitely buy this clock again.

Still can't figure out setting for alarm to wake you up to fm radio
Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
I like having the time projected on my ceiling at night. This clock has a great projection feature that is adjustable, turns on/off with the press of a button, can be pointed in different directions and can be oriented 90, 180, 270, 360 degrees. The display can be set bright, dim or off with the push of a button, and projection clock remains on even when the display is off. Dual alarms are set independently. Wake to buzz, radio or nature sounds (you can adjust volume when you set the alarm. I like to take it with me when I travel, so I wish the FM antenna and the power cord with adapter were detachable. There is a groove on the bottom to hold the line-in cord, but the other cords hang out and can not be detached. I bought it online and had difficulty finding the dimensions. It is approximately 21 x 6 x 6.5 cm.
Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
I bought this for the time projection on the Ceiling. It's great... just plug it in. Like much better than the more expensive units at Brookstone. The sound is ok, esp. for the price. Temperature display is a bonus. Great product for the price. Wonder why previous review is excellent, but only gives 3 stars.

This was puchased to replace a very much older clock radio which is now in clock heaven. The old one also had nature sounds so I wanted to retain that capability. I had no problem setting it up . The instructions were completely adequate and it was operating correctly soon after it arrived.

Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
My clock/radio was given to me as a gift. The old one "died" several years ago and I never replaced it. I had a clock in bedroom with no back light so I keep a flashlight on my night stand to see what time it was if I woke up while it was still dark out. This clock radio has solved the problem. I am really enjoying the projection feature more than I thought I would.

Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
I've been using my new clock for about a week, and so far I like it. The only complaint I have is that you have to kind-of "memorize" where the buttons are--they're a little hard to find in the dark because they're almost flush with the top surface. The antennas help me get great AM reception (I like to listen to Coast to Coast as I doze off), but they kind of dangle everyplace. The nature sounds are okay--it's a short segment that repeats, though. I also haven't been able to figure out how to automatically set the time-length for "sleep to radio"...you have a choice of 90 minutes, 60, 30 or 15...so far I've had to cycle through the choices each time instead of having it automatically set to remember... Overall, a fun little alarm clock radio. I like being able to look up at the ceiling to make sure that the alarms are set!

This unit produces nice nature sounds at reasonable volume settings. We do not use the projection feature. The operating procedures are somewhat confusing at first, but quickly become routine on use. The "Off" button for the sounds could be larger to differentiate it from the other selections.

Comments about Sony Nature Sounds Clock Radio:
We use the clock mostly for it's projection feature. Unfortunately the projection only goes for 10 hours and then needs to be turned on again, which can be a bit annoying, as it sometimes goes off when we are still wanting to use the projection.
The nature sounds are pretty good - especially the rainfall which I like.

a clock radio would be the perfect work/desktop entertainment system, except that they never put earphone jacks in them -- have to use headphones in the workplace! Is there a law against that, or do manufacturers just never think of it?

I was looking for a good clock radio for years.
Looks I found one. It is perfect. All functions are easy accessible. Red ceiling light is bright, sound is great.
