This Bigblue FF-1x5W AFO LED Focus Dive Light (Blue) is a compact but powerful LED focus light featuring the Auto Flash-Off function. Today's modern digital cameras have very accurate auto focus features but they require a certain amount of light and contrast in order to function. Sometimes this is a problem underwater, so having a continuous light mounted above the port will help the camera to focus. The FF-1x5W AFO is perfect for this purpose since the Auto Flash-Off function will automatically turn off the light for 3 seconds when your strobes fire. This way the focus light will not affect your photo even if you are shooting at a slow shutter speed. The 1 5W LED provides 200 lumens of light that should be bright enough to assist your camera's auto focus even on night dives.
The FF-1x5W AFO is powered with 4 AA batteries; both Alkaline or NiMH will work. It has a burn time of up to 8 hours. The light is constructed from aluminum alloy, and is anodized, to be anti-corrosive. The FF-1x5W AFO can also be used as a back-up light for cave diving or as a primary for some diving situations. The light has a color temperature of 6500 °K, and a beam angle from 60°. The light has a unique "Flying-Fish" shape, and features a rotary magnetic switch with transportation lock.

- The energy efficient design and excellent quality of the LED guarantees a lifespan of 50,000 hours of burn time, reducing the need for frequent replacement of the bulb

- The rotary magnetic switch is built to be insulated from all internal parts, eliminating the risk of a flood
- The safety lock on the switch keeps the light from being accidentally switched on during transportation
- The thermal protection system prevents the light from overheating by cutting off the power, in case of prolonged use on land, or when the torch has been exposed to temperatures above 158°F (70°C), as soon as the light cools off, the light comes back on.

Used to assist focusing on the Sea&Sea DX-2Gwith two YS-110a setup. Does its job well.
AFO works well, turning off the light for less than specified 3 seconds – no hot spots at all. Never tried to measure off time, but it seems to be in 1 second range. Light is back on before strobes recharge and you are ready to take another shot.
Strong beam – would work well as a primary night dive light (brighter than rented dive light); you would only need a backup light for night dives.
The beam is quite narrow underwater. You will need to adjust direction with change of distance to a subject. Most useful for macro photography; not enough light to assist focusing at distance over 4 feet.
Well built. A bit bulky, but still okay on my setup. Easy to turn on/off with magnetic switch. The lock prevents accidental turning on/off. Looks reliable with double o-rings.
Long battery life; will easily last for 3 dives without any output strength reduction on one 2300mAh NiMH battery set (make sure actual battery capacity corresponds to what is written on the package).
Battery pack attachment looks like it might disconnect in case of mechanical shock, but never experienced that problem.

I have mounted this on my Light & Motion Titan Housing - handle and ball fittings are included in the kit.
The torch is beautifully made, and well thought out. The sensor works and drops the focus light when the strobes are fired. The 10 watt LED is bright and powerfull with the beam having good penetration and spread, enabling focussing in the recess of wrecks.

Used to allow focus of camera without the use of strobe focus lights.
No hotspot the 3 second turn off is great.
If there was a down side then the angle of the beam would be it, but it works fine anyway

The design of the light is klutzy and awkward, it has no mount for the underwater camera housing
The lamp is too large, the black plastic ring falls off when changing batteries, the battery holder is flimsy, not a good buy, sorry to say. I prefer the Focus Nano Light
