Being an battery, there isn't a whole lot to say about it. The thing is, if you own a Sony NEX 5, you really need to carry at least one extra battery. These cameras eat electricity the way an Olds 98 went through gas. This isn't necessarily a function of the battey, but more of the camera. The LCD display and the menu jumping consume a lot of power. Another charging unit would be useful as well, to carry in the bag.
The LCD protector kit is also a must-have. For the price, you can't go wrong. Sony is suppossed to be coming out with an adaptor that snaps on the back of the camera, but until they arrive on these shores, this is a good, cheap alternative.

This has to be the worst camera battery I have ever owned. I would never buy this camera again because of the battery life. What is the point of selling a $600.00 camera with a useless battery. If I buy an extra battery, that extra won't hold a charge. So what do you do when you need to use your camera for 2 hours? Take your Kodak.

Not sure where anyone gets that this battery is not good, it lasts just as long as the one that came with my camera, also it is half the price of anywhere else I can buy it.

Great Battery, Long Lasting! This is my fourth Battery of this kind and all work great and perform great. Learned a long time ago to spend a couple of extra buck and get a Genuine Sony Battery instead of a economy cheaper battery.

This is my fourth one and all of them work great! Have had nothing but great results with Sony batteries. I used to try the cheaper aftermarket batteries but have learned my lesson. Spend the extra few dollars for Genuine Sony Batteries

It is indistinguishable from the battery that came with the camera because it is the same battery. The only difference is the very affordable price.

Comments about Sony NP-FW50 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery (1080mAh):
Tried the Pearstone equivalent and my Sony NEX-6 camera refused it (incompatible). This one is nearly double the cost but the NEX-6 "likes" it. Appears there's really no choice in the matter.

Comments about Sony NP-FW50 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery (1080mAh):
With its electronic viewfinder, LCD, power zoom lens and video features, the NEX 6 camera draws a fair amount of power from the battery. And, given the relatively small camera, not much additional battery size/capacity is likely available with the current technology. Therefore, carrying a spare battery is almost mandatory if the camera is used even moderately". The "remaining power indicator" (shown as a percentage in the camera display) is very helpful. A cover for the contacts would have been nice. The recharge time isn't too bad (note that "rapid" charging typically reduces the overall life of a battery). Not having used other battery brands, it's unknown how the Sony compares and whether the power level indicator reading is available for them. Decided to buy the Sony as a known quantity.

I needed a spare battery for my NEX 5N and having tried generic batteries before, I new I wanted to get the OEM one. I use the video function or the camera regularly and the battery life has been more than sufficient for my purposes.

Comments about Sony NP-FW50 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery (1080mAh):
Great battery for Sony NEX-6 camera. I've gotten consistently high shoot time from this battery, and seldom have to put in the spare. I've had bad experience with cheaper batteries in the past, so went with the official brand. However, it costs perhaps twice as much as cheaper versions, which is why I knocked a star off. Otherwise, it's a battery - what more can I say?

Comments about Sony NP-FW50 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery (1080mAh):
I was going to order a cheaper battery from another site but was steered away after reading negative reviews about counterfeit batteries that wouldn't work in the Sony NEX 7. I was even worried about this one as it was half the price from the Sony Website. These batteries are original Sony equipment. After charging and installing, this new one holds a charge better than the battery that came with the camera. I highly recommend this battery or anything purchased from B&H. Oh, free shipping too - sweet!
