The Western Digital 2TB RE4 Enterprise SATA Hard Drive is coupled with dual processors, which has twice the processing power to maximize its performance. Advanced RAFF technology monitors the drive and corrects both linear and rotational vibration, thus ensuring optimum performance even in high vibration environments.
With dual actuator technology, the RE4 hard drive improves positional accuracy over the data tracks. Using the electromagnetic actuator principles, the primary actuator provides coarse displacement. The secondary actuator provides accurate head adjustment using piezoelectric motion. Featured motor shaft on both ends minimizes the system-induced vibration and stabilizes platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations. IntelliSeek feature enables you to calculate the optimum seek speeds, thereby reducing power consumption, noise, and vibration. Multi-axis shock sensor automatically detects the subtlest shock events, allowing you to protect the data.
With TLER (Time-Limited Error Recovery) feature, the RE4 SATA Hard Drive minimizes drive fallout caused by the extended hard drive error-recovery processes. The NoTouch Ramp Load technology ensures that the recording head never touches the disk media, providing enhanced drive protection in transit. Thermal cycling makes sure that each drive is tested by an extended burn-in for reliable operation.
Consistency can be achieved with third generation dynamic fly height, which enables each read-write head’s fly height to be adjusted in real-time. With 64 MB cache, the 2 TB SATA Hard Drive ensures faster data transactions by reducing the time required for data transactions. The 1.2 million hours MTBF (tested at 100% duty cycle) makes the hard drive more reliable.
The RE4 Enterprise SATA Hard Drive is ideal for use in servers, video surveillance, and other demanding write-intensive applications.

We are using this to store our electronic medical records database securely have 2 setup in RAID 1. These are the same drives used in the WD Sentinel device we have.
Have an i7-3930K, 64GB ram, Intel 128GB boot drive with Win 8 pro all attached to our Asus Rampage IV Extreme mobo.
These drives work fast and flawless! Never had any issues with any WD products ever to date.
They are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for!
Also BHPhoto had the best price out of anywhere!!!
Will be getting 2 more of these or upgrading to the 3 or 4TB versions as we grow!

Using my drive in my Drobo Pro...though noisier than my Green Drives, the Enterprise version is much quicker read/write times. I plan on replacing my Green Drives with Enterprise SATAs

When you account for shipping and taxes, B&H has the best price for this product. This is an enterprise rated drive, so it costs a bit more than the desktop version (Caviar Black). I purchased six of these drives for a ReadyNAS that's on 24/7, so an enterprise drive is the best IMHO.
