I oversee sound equipment for a theatre that has used ATW-3100 wireless systems for over 5 years. The bodypacks get hard use, including bumps, knocks, and lots of perspiration as actors get into their roles. The frequency agility makes interferance very rare and enables use of multiple systems. (Up to 16 in our case.) You can make many helpful adjustments within the transmitter: increasing or decreasing transmitter output (RF), signal gain adjustments, and lockout features that can prevent casual users from muting or turning off the pack, to name a few. Expect 8+ hours of life from a pair of fresh AA batteries on the lower RF output setting, which has been adequate for any venue I've encountered.

I recently bought 6 of the updated ATW-T310B transmitters to replace our aging T310 transmitters. The T310B's locking slider and new "pincher style" release will prevent the battery door from accidentally opening during performances. I also hope they have fixed an intermittent problem that occurs when the transmitters are coupled with Countryman microphones. The old packs would stop sending AF (sound picked up by the mic) even though RF (radio signal) remained strong. The packs had to be turned off and powered back up before the AF would return. The new backlit display is also a nice touch. It illuminates briefly when the pack is turned on or a button is pressed so you can change settings backstage without scrambling for a flashlight.

I recommend these systems without reservation as a well built, reliable, and able to stand up to continued, even harder, use. If there is a problem, Audio Technica offers excellent customer service to their end users. They repair items quickly and relpace them at reduced prices when needed.

Our priests use this transmitter primarily during Mass. We purchased this transmitter as a backup for our older one. The priests find it easy to operate and the range to be excellent. The 4 pin connector tends to become "moveable" over time and generates a loud cracking sound when the wearer moves. We taped the connector to our older transmitter which seems to have eliminated most of this problem. It would be a much more durable product it the manufactor redesigned these connectors.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-T310B Wireless Bodypack Transmitter:

The original design of the ATW-310 has been updated with more frequency options as well as a backlit LCD and dual color status LED which helps quite a bit if you mute from the body pack. It works well and is very easy to setup. It's reliable as long as you don't treat them harshly. We have used a cadre of these units regularly for several years and for the most part they hold up with mostly just cable replacements, but I have had a few packs become damaged enough around the input to need repair. FYI, if you're going to repair one it's going to be around 100 dollars unless the repair is very simple. So take that into account if you are replacing or adding units. I'm not sure it's the smallest or simplest to conceal but they have always worked for us, it uses the 4 pin connector so you can plug a variety of mic's into the unit, headworn mics seem to be more durable because they get less abuse than lapel worn lavaliers and lets face it, headworn mics give much better pickup than lapel worn mics becuase the performer is forced to have the mic in the right place all the time even if it does seem annoying to wear a head set for some people.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-T310B Wireless Bodypack Transmitter:

The AT 3000 series wireless system has worked very well for us. I bought 4 more of these body pack transmitters to double up on our hand-held microphone channels. That works great as long as you don't try to use the hand-helds and the body pack at the same time. B&H had the best price on these body packs. The mic connectors used by AT are easy to engage and remove, but they are less common (and more expensive) than mini-XLRs or 3.5mm plugs used by other companies, so mics are harder to find. The transmitters were easy to set up, and their sound is very clear. They use AA batteries which are less expensive than the 9Vs used by other manufacturers. In our 500 seat HS auditorium, we can run these transmitters on low power with no problems.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-T310B Wireless Bodypack Transmitter:

Added this to an existing 3000 Series System that came with a handheld transmitter. It works great. I've had the handheld for use in Weddings and Live Music for years, but needed some body packs for a Theatrical musical. It allows me to use my system for either the already existing Handheld transmitter, or this body pack transmitter. I have had great success with the Audio Technica 899 Lav mics and Countryman E6 mics with this transmitter.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-T310B Wireless Bodypack Transmitter:

We use the transmitter weekly for our "mobile" pastor. Our pastor likes to move a lot while delivering his weekly message to our congregation. We were having some audio technical difficulties with several microphones, even brand new mics. We discovered it may not be the microphone, but the transmitter. We ordered the transmitter via the website, however, there are different frequencies that the transmitter uses, and the clarification on which transmitter to order was not mentioned on the website. We received the wrong frequency, so we contacted B & H and they were able to assist us in obtaining the correct one. They provided an RA for returning the incorrect transmitter. They contacted the manufacturer to send us the proper one immediately. We had it in a few days, so we could use it for that Sunday.

Overall pleased with performance. Sound quality is good. The units have held up well. One issue is that the battery door can be accidentally opened. Not a big issue since a small piece of tape solves the problem. Easy to program and use the menu.
