I was happy to see that LCDVF designed the viewfinder for the T2i, apparently the old magnet attachments hid the sensor below the cameras viewfinder.. So the reviews were good enough for me to go through and buy this one.

The installation process was interesting, blow dry it the magnet to glue it on, watch your fingers!

For this process I heated the magnet and then attached it to the LCDVF viewfinder to accurately place it on the back of the T2i's screen.

I took the lens off and put some slightly heavy books on the back of the camera for a few hours.

The end result was great! The screen looks crisp and perfect for outdoor situations. No focus adjust so make sure that doesn't get in the way. Make sure you take care of it, it's light, and built well, but I would not want to drop it on a hard surface. Just wear the neck strap.

So the only defect that there was with it: there are 4 magnets in the back of the LCDVF viewfinder, and one of them wasn't glued in properly, it keeps sticking to the magnet as I take the LCDVF off. Nothing crazy glue can't fix, but I would rather not buy the glue in the first place.

A must have in your DSLR filming arsenal!

I bought the LCDVF for my Canon 600D/T3i (Firmware 1.0.1.) and I was very satisfied except for the fact that it messes up the sensor inside the lcd-screen and turns it off after a few seconds making it unusable for DSLR filmmaking and makes photography very annoying. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a solution for this problem so far, so I had to return it.

    Simple Purchase Great Results

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

I am a pretty avid user of Canon DSLR's for shooting video and though this is not the best quality it most definitely gets the job done greatly. It adds a significant amount of stability via another point of stabilization on your body (against your eye) and it also works wonderfully for aiding in focusing. It allows you to see your image without the glare of the sun and it also magnifies it. Great purchase! I'd recommend it to any shooter on a budget. It seriously helps!!!

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

This is a fantastic product and a must-have for anyone using their DSLR for film. It allows great critical focus no matter how harsh the sun light is. The only problem with it exists only with the Canon T3i. Occasionally, when the LCDVF is attached and the screen is closed, the screen will shut off. This can be quite annoying but it rarely happens and I was able to nearly eliminate the problem just by messing with some settings in the camera. Overall, this is a great purchase for DSLR filmmakers.

Was a hard decision for me between this and the Z-finder, ultimately price won out and I'm happy enough.

I'm a left eye shooter with a -.5 prescription on that eye. Was worried that I'd need the diopter provided on other models, but it turns out to be unnecessary, the LCDVF works fine.

Works great on my 60D, though the flip-out LCD monitor isn't really study enough to support this in the flipped-out position.

This magnifying glass when in contact with the magnet modura not give a clear picture on the LCD so it is necessary to rule out canceling its function in environments with lots of light to clearly see the images in camera.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

With the LCD flush to the Panasonic GH3 body, and this ViewFinder up against the LCD for viewing, this viewfinder kept tripping the sensor to throw the image into the EVF. Even after I turned off the eye detection, it kept doing so. Since the image kept bouncing off the LCD and over to the EVF, this ViewFinder was not useable with my GH3.

I use this to shoot a lot of surfing in the bright son where I wouldn't be able to see the LCD screen. It works very well although sometimes the magnet isn't strong enough and if falls off with the lightest budge. Other than that it works very well and is definitely worth the price.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

such a handy bit of kit, both for photography and videography. i haven't tried any of the pricier zacuto stuff, but for a knock around, budget, travel, whatever, this does the job.

i use it mostly to make sure things are turning out ok, and no stray pieces of dust are ruining my photos, which has been a huge issue in the past with all my lens swapping. a little quality control goes a long way. if you are shooting outdoors in bright light, something like this is the only way you'll be able to see what you're doing. great for manual focusing in live view or full screen mode or whatever.

also a nifty way to share pics with others, and would probably work with a light box for looking at proofs or negatives.

as an added bounus, having one of these really convinces people what you are serious and know what your are doing for some reason. slap it on, show your model a few stills and watch what happens.

only gave it four stars as a precaution because its the first of its kind that i have ever used. the magnet generally has enough power to keep it in place. the neck strap is a must (you'll remove it and casually drop it on the floor otherwise), but will get tangled in your camera's strap. it seems fairly sturdy, but it is difficult to keep clean. the little cleaning cloth is super easy to lose and the carrying bag doesn't really offer much protection. only been using it for a month so i cannot comment much on its durability or reliability just yet. it has handled a few spills just fine, though.

you may also want a more stable, secure way to attach the thing for video as it is fairly easy to pop off and on.

I was a little skeptical about buying a viewfinder without a diopter but as soon as I put it on the back of the camera it put all worries to rest.

Perfect image from the device - Its comfortable around the eye and does not let in any light.

If you have glasses get a viewfinder with a diopter but if you have good eye-site its worth saving the few hundred dollars and buying this.

Attached to my CanonT2i beautifully. I can definitely feel the added stability it adds to my video and it is very comfortable against my eye. I ordered the Bluestar eyepad (Size Small) separately believing that I wasn't receiving one with the LCDVF package, but I was surprised to find a Red Microfiber eye cushion in my LCDVF box! BONUS! Obviously can't guarantee you will receive one with yours, but maybe order the eye cushion after finding out you didn't get one. GREAT VIEWFINDER as an alternative to the much more expensive Zacuto option. Save the money on this VF and purchase a Rode videomic and a monopod of your choice and you've got an amazing video rig setup to get started with! Next stop for me... New lenses!

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

While shooting with my 50mm 1.4, I was having difficulty getting good manual focus, especially at 1.4. And that was inside. Outside? Forget about it, with the LCD. The LCDVF has improved my ability to focus, especially in daylight, exponentially. Let's be real: DSLRs should come with a viewfinder like this, standard issue. But they don't. Fooey. Having tried many loupes, from the el-cheapos to the top o' the line Zfinder, LCDVF performs better than other lesser-priced loupes, like the Hoodman. And who can afford a Zfinder? Well, some people can. But I'm not one of those people. The LCDVF comes to us from Estonia, and fills the gap nicely. Pros: the magnet/mounting bracket setup is relatively foolproof, as long as you have a steady hand when applying it. The magnification is good, and genuinely helps when you're trying to frame up and expose. The included neckstrap is a must, and make sure you wear it when you're using this item. If you forget you're using it, and move your camera, the LCDVF WILL pop off when you're not looking. It would be nice if the LCDVFs neck was rubberized like the Hoodman...the hard plastic feels a bit brittle, like it might break if the item was to fall and bounce once or twice, which, being hard plastic, it might do. The included stuff (carrying pouch, extra eye padding, neck strap) are all nice bonuses. Cons: The inside of the neck is not protected by anything, so dust and lint get in it relatively quick. Dust and little hairs have also started to stick to the adhesive that holds the mounting bracket to the back of the camera (and no, I don't live in a dirty environment...these come from the inside of my camera bag, which is not visibly dirty). And as I said, it pops off quickly and without much force; this is also a pro, depending on the situation. Hoodman makes an elastic band that is meant to hold their item to the camera's body while in use. This might also work for the LCDVF? I'm not sure. But I'm going to try it. All in all, I'm glad I spent the money to go mid-range instead of basic. Despite its few quirks, I do recommend this item for its performance and relatively solid construction.

DSLR's should come with these. Awesome!

Highly recommend this product for video. Use it with my Canon T2i.
It has come in handy with shooting both on a tripod and rigs. Adds
another point of contact. Gave it 4 stars because it lacks a diopter.

Anyone who have an DSLR needs to have this additional item because it solved light issues on the 3" screen when outdoors plus you can really get that precise focus on the subject, also its easy to put on and remove.... 2 thumbs up.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF 3/2 LCD ViewFinder:

Cheaper than others but more than I would have ordinarily spent on a viewfinder. All together I am happy with my purchase. Compared to the cheaper viewfinders available, this one comes with a better quality build and more bells and whistles (nice little bag and comfortable eye cup cover). I hope it lasts longer than the others...

I was concerned about applying the magnet to my LCD, but so far it stays on well and doesn't block any of the image. The LCD no longer closes once the magnet is on leaving it more susceptible to scratches and wear, but this would already be the case with most DSLRs (T2is, 5/7Ds etc.) that don't have the swivel screen. A diopter would be nice.

Makes focusing and handheld video a pleasure.
