The Slik Pro 823 CF 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is a beefy photography tripod that supports enough weight (up to 18 lb) to be used with a video head and a camcorder. As for still cameras, the Pro 823 CF is suitable for use with almost any head paired with a medium or large format camera or a DSLR with a zoom or long telephoto lens. The 823 Pro reaches a maximum height of 66.3" and weighs 3.6 lb.
The three leg sections are secured and freed by way of twist locks. Because the legs are non-rotating, you can unlock both of a leg's stages at once by twisting the two large rubber grips with one hand. This enables fast setup of the Pro 823 CF tripod.
The rapid center column is removable as well as reversible for extreme low-angle shooting with an inverted camera. At the bottom of the center column is a metal hook for hanging a counterweight for additional stability for uneven loads or for windy conditions.

Anyway, it is an affordable tripod with good stability and lightweight. Also, it gets same height as my eyes that it is so useful for landscape photos. I knew Pro 824 is very similar but smaller fold-size, but I did not have enough budget for that, and personally I strongly prefer 3-section legs rather than 4-section.

I bought this as an upgrade to another Slik tripod and couln't be happier. The 823 is lightweight,very sturdy and setup/takedown is fast. I'm 5'8". The camera is at eye level for me with the center column fully down---Perfect! The hook on the bottom of the center column is ideal for hanging a camera bag, coat, hat or whatever you don't want to set on the ground. My experience with B&H is that I get 2 day free shipping routinely. Thanks B&H.

This is my first pro tripod. I am amazed by the improvement in picture quality over my previous tripod. Comparing the different models in the Slik catalog, the 823 CF was the best choice for most DSLR and lenses. I chose Slik because my previous tripod is a 30 year old inexpensive Slik and it has held up very well.
