    Clear, neutral sound, love them

Comments about Tannoy Reveal 601P 6.5" Passive 2-Way Studio Monitor (Single):

I got three of these to use in a 5.1 editing set up built around a Mac Pro and FCPX (for now my surround channels are older speakers). These are bulky cabinets, be sure to take a look at the dimensions. However, they sound pristine, even tone, top to bottom, full and clear. I asked several audio-pro friends for suggestions, nearly all shot down the KRK or Behringer options in this price range, and, meanwhile, had good things to say about the Tannoys. They have a reputation for being good neutral speakers to mix on. I've been revisiting favorite recordings and really enjoying the new-found detail and clarity. Movies and music sounds cleaner and simpler, with a new sense of dimension, definitely worth the upgrade from lesser speakers.I had a short film play in a local theater a few months ago and was surprised by things in the audio that were not at all noticeable on my old monitors, certainly could have sounded more pro. Listening to my work now, it's clear that good monitors are an important tool for independent video editing. I'm happier with my mixes, like working on a profiled and calibrated monitor (screen) for the first time.On a related note, the Mac Pro puts out 5.1 in ProLogic II over its optical port, so a receiver and passive speakers is an easy solution for FCPX vs. active speakers and external boxes. On my receiver, I turned off all the effects and enhancements and balanced the individual channel levels as closely as possible, and the results are really good. Also, I decided to go for the Auralex foam pads that were an optional add on through B&H, glad I did. They've helped to get the speakers at an optimal angle and keep the sound clear and direct.

Comments about Tannoy Reveal 601P 6.5" Passive 2-Way Studio Monitor (Single):

I gave 5 stars to this product because the sound is amazingly pure. Granted you need to use an integrated amplifier, an this has an importance on the resulting sound, but by comparing boxes with the same amp I cannot ignore the obvious.
Theses monitors are very good to mix your tracks to a level of «what it is you are delivering».

Comments about Tannoy Reveal 601P 6.5" Passive 2-Way Studio Monitor (Single):

Tannoy REVEAL 601p are so much better than my previous studio monitors, that I'm glad that I accidentally typed in +6 instead of -16 on my bass drum fader, blowing out my old speakers. With my old speakers, there was no clear definition between the lower mid-range and bass. Some of my mixes had too much bass, some had too little. I would try to compensate for this by switching to Yamaha NS 10Ms, but they have hardly any bass at all! My new Tannoy Reveal 601p's have all the upper clarity of the Yahama's PLUS a reliable amount of bass. My new mixes are much better, and much clearer. I do music for video, commercials, and the web. My clients have noticed the difference. They sound great, reduce ear fatigue, and they also look great in the studio. Highest recommendation.
