Comments about Comprehensive 4-pole TRRS 3.5mm Mini to XLR Jack & Stereo 3.5mm Mini Jack Adapter:
This cable works exactly as advertised.
We use it mainly to organize high quality conference calls while using free VOIP carriers.
- Take as many professional microphones as you have participants on your side
- Balance the different voice inputs through an audio mixer
- Send the mixed signal to your iPhone and use your favorite VOIP service
- Plug the signal you get in return into a good amplifier
- You're all set; every body's voice on your side will be crystal clear.

Comments about Comprehensive 4-pole TRRS 3.5mm Mini to XLR Jack & Stereo 3.5mm Mini Jack Adapter:
Not sure how to rate this product. Mostly upset with myself for not reading the specs more carefully. Be warned: the 3.5 mini jack is an audio OUT, so this unit will not work with the Rode NT4. If you want to use the Rode NT4 (or other mic with 3.5 mm audio IN), you'll need a different product.
Now ... on to real life test run:
I gave this product two stars because I was hoping to use this for person-on-the-street interviews with my iPhone. When I used an XLR mic, any time the cord moved, there was a crackling sound and the audio shorted out. This item would work well for a locked-down (stationary) audio session, such as interviewing someone at a kitchen table. But if you plan on moving at all, forget it. This item cost too much to be shorting out, so I returned it. (Again, my two-star rating is focused on the shorting-out noise I heard when I moved the cord; not on my inability to read the specs more carefully. ;-)

This surely isn't rocket science. An XLR to TRRS mini jack for getting a mic into your iPad or whatever. It works! Solid manufacturing, stable signal, and allows you to monitor the audio as well - at least in playback, so you don't have to keep unplugging cables.

Comments about Comprehensive 4-pole TRRS 3.5mm Mini to XLR Jack & Stereo 3.5mm Mini Jack Adapter:
I use it with my 3rd gen ipod touch and the irig recorder app for field recordings. I tried it with my sennheiser e835 dynamic mic and my battery powered condenser shotgun mic and the signal is super clean with both mics. In my opinion this is a really cheap way for someone that already owns an ipod touch / iphone to get a good field recorder with XLR input. When used with the iRig recorder app, you can monitor the input in real time, adjust input and output gain, view your sound wave in real time while it's recording and export in 16 bits 44khz (CD quality).

I was hoping to use this with my iPhone 3Gs to connect a shotgun microphone for audio recordings but it did not work. Not sure if the cord I bought was broken.

Comments about Comprehensive 4-pole TRRS 3.5mm Mini to XLR Jack & Stereo 3.5mm Mini Jack Adapter:
As a new user to the iPhone4 I wanted to take advantage of the fine digital sound on this instrument without relying on the built-in microphone. I read about the 4-pole TRRS mini jack adapter, which enables the user to connect a professional microphone with an XLR connector to the 3.5mm mini jack. I read that it is often used by TV reporters to create a pro sound when using the iPhone4 in the field.
Within minutes after its arrival from B&H I was recording my greeting with my SM58 microphone. Amazing! Direct to the phone and ready in minutes. Another great toy at a great price from B&H.

Perfect way to connect a real mic and headphones into an iPhone or iPad to use the many Broadcaster firendly apps.
