The VoxGuard Nearfield Audio Absorber from Primacoustic is an ideal tool for improving the quality of vocal recordings. It attaches to your mic stand to surround your microphone, reducing unwanted sounds. The VoxGuard has an open-cell acoustic foam liner that creates an acoustic boundary around the mic that contains the voice while simultaneously eliminating room reflections.
The VoxGuard features is lightweight and easy-to-use, featuring a high-impact ABS outer surround shell that fits onto a mic stand with an included adapter. Unlike similar products that are made from steel, the VoxGuard can be placed easily on a variety of mic stands without fear of falling over. It also features a rear access cable port, allowing the mic to be articulated and directed at a specific sound source for versatile recording. The VoxGuard is also 50% larger than similar offerings, to significantly reduce noise and improve performance.
The VoxGuard includes a set of Primacoustic's TriPad microphone stand isolators. These handy pads decouple the mic stand from the floor, making sure that your microphone isn't subject to any vibration. You'll notice less rumble and movement noise in your tracks right away.

Comments about Primacoustic VoxGuard Nearfield Absorber:
This somewhat stifles the ambient reverb in the room, but doesn't make a major amount of difference. I think it's barely worth it...enough that I didn't return it. In order to really make a difference I also put the mike in the corner of the room with egg carton matress foam in the corner against the wall.

Comments about Primacoustic VoxGuard Nearfield Absorber:
Primary usage for modest residential project studio rig. Product is VERY effective overall. No "bells & whistles" @all, just does what it was created to do. What sold me on the VOX GUARD aside from being moderately priced, was the side vents feature on the unit along with the manufacture's solid reputation of proving professional sound treatment solutions.

Comments about Primacoustic VoxGuard Nearfield Absorber:
I used these in recording a Celtic band (guitar, fiddle and flute) in my home studio. Everything was mic'd only, nothing direct. The tracking room is just one big room, and I was worried about microphone signal bleed. Bought these and they worked surprisingly well to keep the instruments isolated to their tracks. They're small so you don't have big gobos getting in the way. I bought two more similar filters (different brands but they're all pretty similar) based on that experience. Purists might squawk, but I'm a pragmatist, and they work for me.

this is a TRUE NEED for anyone producing hip hop. it reduces any echo, any room noise, and adds a crisp STUDIO QUALITY sound to your vocals. its almost like the vocals bounce around and add texture because my sound has never sounded better. i thought it was my mic leaving dry vocals, so i bought a new one. nothing changed but a little better clarity. so i bought this, and it TRULEY helped my QUALITY. thats all we artist look for, something to boost are recordings without over spending, and this fits the bill

Comments about Primacoustic VoxGuard Nearfield Absorber:
I have this bedroom studio, so i was recording in a untreated ambient, always giving me amateur results. The voxguard really helps me in that. It doesn't take out all the ambient, just leave the necessary. The mounting is easy and the product very resistant. For amateur recordings, i have nothing to complain about it. Good price and works great.

Comments about Primacoustic VoxGuard Nearfield Absorber:
I purchased the VoxGuard for a home-studio micro-budget voiceover solution for a documentary I'm editing. The absorber has a hard plastic backing with the VOXGUARD PrimAcoustic logo that gives it a really nice fit and finish.
It also comes with some additional hardware that facilitates the mounting of vocal mic shock mounts. Since I've only owned it a few weeks I can't speak to durability, but so far so good.
