This 16x9 Inc. Wide Conversion Lens Package from JVC is designed for use with the GY-HM100U camcorder. Manufactured by 16x9 Inc., the lens offers a 0.7x magnification, widening your camera's field of view for shooting in tight spaces or increasing depth of field. Also included is a rubber sunshade hood, for keeping stray light off the lens, and a native 46mm adapter, which attaches directly to the GY-HM100U's lens for ease of use.

From the delicate case and presentation to editing the video resulting from using it, was enjoyed on the way.
One of the things I found limited of recording with my JVC GY-HM100U was the inability to generate wide angle shots, but with this conversion lens I could go further in each one of my productions.
I would recommend his eyes closed to anyone who asked, even recommend it as a "must have" in any case.

I wish B&H would have stated it was a 16x9 make. i was under the illusion it was a JVC brand and that it was bigger and fitted more flush to the front end of the HM100E.
Oh well, can't whinge, still a well made and nice WA lens for this camcorder and other 46mm barrel cameras. (works with my Panasonic SD900 as well)
Might try the JVC branded version next which is priced cheaper.

I purchased this Lens Package because I needed a little wider view to record video interviews with musicians and bands. I am sometimes limited on the distance I can have the camera setup due to conducting live interviews at concerts/festivals. I needed to keep the camera within 10 or so feet of a full band sitting in a lounge area. This lens gave me about 3 more feet of viewing angle on each side at about 10-12 feet away. PERFECT!
Easy to install/uninstall if needed to change quickly. Comes with lens covers and nice micro-fleece pouch for storage while not used.

That may seem like an odd headline, but we bought one other wide angle which was advertised to work with this camera and it would not fit. This is due to the configuration of the built-in bayonet mount for the stock lens hood. The threads on the camera are recessed because of this and the add-on lens must be designed to take this into account. Some lenses on the market seem to assume they are compatible because the thread size is the same. Buyer beware! Other than the fact that the lens can actually be mounted on our camera, it is fairly compact and light, seems well built, and though I am no optical engineer, the pictures look good to me with no immediately noticeable degradation compared to the stock lens alone. You can't use the stock bayonet lens hood but the provided clamp on hood works well. I do wish it had some kind of indexing so it would be easier to get it on straight, though that is not a big deal. Also it is .7x. I had a .5x some time ago on a different camera and would prefer that, but .7x gives significantly more field of view which is very helpful for what we do. You can zoom through this lens with no ill effects to focus. All in all this is a good solution and I would recommend it.

Fuller coverage for shooting in tight spaces without getting the fisheye look. No frame bending. Screws on simply, fits nicely, the shade's a must. Picture is excellent. Make this lens your first accessory and a phantom mic, like a Rode, your second.

I'm happy with the quality of this lens and hood kit. The center image is clear and zooms through nicely. The edges are only slightly softer but overall, it's reasonably sharp. I'm happy with the product and would buy it again.
Important note. This lens & hood kit are not made by JVC. It's actually made by "16x9". and it's actually cheaper to buy the 46mm "16x9" EXII lens and the "16x9" hood separately!
