I bought this product because I was looking for an inexpensive backdrop support to use for a videoblog my company is preparing to launch. We were setting up a home studio, so we needed flexibility, easy setup, and durability.
This product fit the bill perfectly on all three fronts. It also stores easily. I like the fact that it expands or contracts depending on how much background we actually need or have space for.
A very good value for my money!

Im starting a photo n video studio. Reading scott kelbys books brought me to think about this option. he recommeds to buy this stand with seamless paper. Nonetheless, I noticed afterwards that he actually does not use it in his photos! well, he appears to shoot in a studio where the walls are either painted or have white paper on it. Now, I am considering to do so my self, because I am not really thinking about using many different backgrounds. Just white and a greenscreen. And I must tell you putting the seamless paper (worse the greenscreen) is a pain in the a""! ... cause you got to be very carefull so it looks seamless!
One problem I found about this product (same for the seamless paper) is that it has no instructions. To place the stand was no problem, but I would like it to instruct you on the right way to put the seamless paper or other backgrounds for that matter!

Comments about Savage Economy Background Support:
I wasn't expecting it to be a professional level stand at this price. I'm a photography student and I live in a small apartment so I was looking for something smaller and in my budget. It arrived broken because B&H poorly shipped it in the box it comes in with no other packaging or protection. The stand itself was broken, one of the legs was loose causing it to stand lopsided and render it useless. It is so flimsy I don't see how it could have held a roll of anything weighing more than aluminum foil. I wouldn't have trusted it or kept it if it didn't arrive broken. I returned it for a refund.
I just tape my background paper to the wall for now it's a better solution than risking this falling on my model..

I find that this background support is very useful for photographers who are either starting out or are getting more and more professional. The adjustable height and width make this perfect for moving around from place to place. Very portable. Be careful, it can be a little flimsy. Make sure not to trip on it.

I needed a background & stand quick for a project and tried to get it on the cheap; this stand and a roll of paper fit the bill.
You need to be careful when setting this up as it it somewhat unstable; the base is narrow and there is nowhere to add sandbags. Also, for storage and transport purposes this does not collapse down to a small dimension - at its smallest it is still ~5' long.
With that said this has served me well supporting paper & fabric backgrounds in my makeshift studio

Comments about Savage Economy Background Support:
If you are looking to keep the price down this is the way to go. I am a beginner in photography and want to try somethings. The background support did what I wanted it to do but, it is not sturdy at at all. even with it being fully assembled the smallest bump will make it swing scarcely. There are no other issues I found besides this one.

I was very pleased when the Economy Background Support arrived. It was easy to assemble and easy to store after I used it. Being a woman of small frame I really appreciated the fact that I could set the stand up, and adjust it on my own. It's great for using in a small space (my living room). It works well with paper or a lightweight backdrop.

I use this product practically everyday. It's great quality for the price and the dimensions are perfect for what i shoot. can't find any stand with these dimensions for this price without it being used.
the only thing i'd change is the mechanism that holds the stand height.

The Savage Economy Background Support system has been just right for creating the perfect backdrop for my photos. I love how easy it is to adjust the height, even when you're on a roll taking shots. Tends to be a tad wobbly sometimes but not terrible. Overall it's been great! I would definately recommend this product.

Comments about Savage Economy Background Support:
I found this to be very flimsy. There are not the screw-in knobs to adjust the height, just these little wire pins. No way to adjust the footprint of the stands. One of the legs of mine was too loose and went out further than the rest, making the whole stand sit crooked, thus making the entire thing unstable. I would never use this with a client as it seems VERY easy to get off balance and tip over. Cross bar sags in the middle when totally extended.

Comments about Savage Economy Background Support:
When I ordered this support system the pole that holds the seamless paper was stuck and wouldn't extend to the maximum width to fit a full seamless. I sent it back and exchanged it for the same system and the second time I received it the extension for the stand was stuck. Not only do the poles get stuck the stands seem very flimsy when holding the weight of the full seamless.

I'm new to studio photography and recently purchased this as my "starter" background support system. It does exactly what I need it to do, although it could be a little sturdier. Working with constantly moving children will make you a bit nervous! All in all, a great starter stand and very portable for those who need that. Worth the $$$

This is a great product for the low price. It is quick and easy to raise and lower. It is a little tricky to put a paper roll on by yourself, but with someone helping you, it is very easy. Folds down and takes just a long, skinny area to store.
