Comments about National Geographic NG A2540 Africa Series Midi Satchel (Brown):

Fits a Canon 5D mark 2 body or with 50mm lens attached. Plus you can fit in a flash and a medium telephoto zoom as well. Couple of good pockets for flash cards, cellphone, cleaning supplies, etc...and there is a padded iPad slip pouch built in as well along the backside. Water pools and slides off the covering very well, so no worries in the rain! Nifty little strap for attaching to a rolling suitcase handle as well. Very satisfied all around, and looks awesome like something Indiana Jones would sport.

Comments about National Geographic NG A2540 Africa Series Midi Satchel (Brown):

I'm not a professional - I use my Canon T2i for hobby photography and travel, and I broke in both this bag and the camera at the zoo a couple of weekends ago. I'm in love with it already, and can't wait to see how it holds up over extended use and in the rain. The contents seem to be very well protected against the elements, with the removable zip-closure bag in the main compartment, which also zips shut - then there is the flap on top of that.

I love all the smaller pockets in the flap and the pocket in front of the main compartment - they're perfect for storing extra cards, batteries, lens cap, etc. I've also got a pen and small notepad, travel Advil, and the pocket manual that came with the camera kit in the pocket.

As for the camera itself? It comfortably fits the body plus both my lenses - the 18-55 kit lens and the 75-300 telephoto (the body with the zoom lens attached fits snugly in the internal zip bag within the main compartment, even).

The additional carry options are great, too - other than the shoulder strap, it's got that nice little handle at the top, and a strap at the back for attaching the bag to the handle of rolling luggage.

The bag was very comfortable to wear on my shoulder for the day, and I love the look of it as opposed to the standard camera bags. I can carry this around all day while out and about without looking like I'm carrying a camera bag.

I would absolutely buy other of NatGeo's bags, if they are all of this quality. It doesn't seem to have the most padding, but I don't exactly bang it about or drop things like this, and I don't plan to ever check it when flying, so I'm not concerned about that - for my uses, I think it's perfect.

When I first saw the bag I thought "That is too small" what a wrong thought. This bag holds a lot in what looks like a small area and after getting all the gear in it is not too heavy. I am going to say without a doubt it is a "keeper". I am glad I bought it.

Comments about National Geographic NG A2540 Africa Series Midi Satchel (Brown):

I use this bag as an everyday bag. Since my son was born, I want my "good" camera on hand all the time. It's the perfect size for carrying all the time (I have the large Nat Geo shoulder bag that holds my 17" laptop too, and it's a little large for every day).

In the insert I carry a Canon 50D with 28-135mm EF lens attached, the 18-55mm EF-S lens, spare battery, and charger.

In the main compartment I can also carry my 70-300mm EF lens in a lens case (if I need it) and a few personal items and cables. If I'm not carrying the large zoom, there's room for even more stuff. The netbook slip pouch holds my iPad perfectly in landscape position, with no case on the iPad. If I have my thick case on the iPad, then the iPad sits vertically and still fits. The only thing is if the bag is stuffed pretty full, it's a little more work to wiggle the iPad in and out, which is no problem unless you're in a big hurry.

In the front accessory pouch I can carry my phone, a large checkbook size wallet, some pens, camera attachment for the iPad and a few other odds and ends. The outside pockets are handy for my keys and stuff.

The size is good as it fits quite nicely in the bottom of the stroller. It also doesn't scream camera bag. The finish of the materials used on the bag is very nice, and it looks nice and tough. It's the kind of material that will wear well, rather than looking worn out as it gets older.

I love this bag! It's replaced the many bags I purchased in the search for the perfect everyday bag.

Comments about National Geographic NG A2540 Africa Series Midi Satchel (Brown):

Seems very well made so far, tough treated cotton with leather and brass fittings. Love the African pattern interior. Fits my Nikon D90 with an 18-105 zoom and 24mm wide angle along with peripherals ,a couple sketch pads, pens and a water color set nicely. Very good length on the shoulder strap, I'm 6'4" and its certainly long enough. Can be a little slow to open up when everything is zipped up and buckled. But its solid, secure seems like it will last forever and is beautiful in an understated sort of way.
