Do your photos seem, oh, maybe a little humdrum lately? Do your videos lack a certain je ne sais quoi--pizzazz, in other words? For a different perspective, take a look through this Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens with a Micro Four Thirds mount.

With a 180° angle of view, the world is a very different place. And this full-frame Fisheye lens captures that view brilliantly with 10 elements in 9 groups (1 ED lens) to minimize chromatic aberration and distortion, multi-coating to minimize ghosts and flare, and a stepping motor for smooth and silent focusing (especially helpful with video).

When used with a Panasonic G Micro System camera, the lens operates with full contrast auto focus, focusing as close as 4".  Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas (the famous and elusive bokeh). Sheet filters such as gels may be used on the rear element for more creative options.

Distinctive 180° perspective for photos and video

A sheet filter such as a gelatin filter can be inserted in the rear of the lens
A stepping motor makes the focusing action smooth and silent for use in both photo and movie recording
Multi-coated lens elements minimize ghosts and flare enhancing optical performance

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

It is a very nice fisheye lens. It is very light and very small, but the image quality is great. I use this lens mostly indoors with enough light, but it is also quite impressive even at lower light levels. This being a fisheye, and with f3.5 (equivalent of f7 on full frame), most of the things are pretty much in focus.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

I use this lens for just about any subject. In extreme close up photos (flowers) I try to use the distortion to enhance the subject while shooting landscapes I can make the distortion almost invisible in some ways. The distortion won't be gone but like a magician use misdirection to draw the viewers eye away from the distortion. This lens images can also be de-fished with software to eliminate the distortion be keep the ultra wide perspective. The autofocus allows me to change my field of view and keep my subject tack sharp. This is a lens for a visual adventure!

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

It came between this lens for my beloved GH3 and the Century Extreme fisheye for my HPX170. Besides the obvious $2000 price difference, this lens is a no brainer if you're looking into a m4/3 fisheye. There is zero vingetteing on this which was a huge plus for me. That's the one downfall of the Century Extreme, other than the hefty price. This lens looks just as good if not better without the dreaded outer rings.. Many of us are coming from a skateboard videography background and miss the days of the vx1000 and Century "death lens". Many have upgraded to HD and are struggling to find a fisheye similar in look to the "death lens" and have many complaints in general. In my opinion this is as good as it gets if that's the look you're looking for.Auto focus is fast and precise and this dreamy light lens. I haven't tried the rear sheet filter option yet but plan on it at some point. Personally I'm ok with the 3.5 iris, fisheye's aren't typically sought out for their shallow depth of field ha. I've also been using it for landscape itmelapses and it's blast. The barrel distortion perspective can easily be removed in post if undesirable, keeping it ultra wide.Couldn't be happier, I foresee a very long run with this gem!

I took pictures of my granddaughter at the playground and the fisheye lens really made the shots look really cool. When she was in the swing and the shots taken while she was in the air with the fisheye lens make for a unique and great looking shot. This is just fun.

Smallest decent fisheye lens found anywhere. Yes, there is moderate barrel distortion but that is the effect of any 8mm and for me a very special effect that will go along way in telling the story and landscape scope of a 300 mile trek on the Camino de Santiago path next week in Spain!

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

I first bought the Samyang 7.5mm f3.5 fisheye. But since I do a lot of close-up with my kids, I needed AF since they move a lot. On my Olympus E-M1, the focus is fast in good light, and a little bit slower when the lightning is dimmer.

The lens is very sharp in the center wide opened. And at f5.6 and above, it is sharp corner to corner. It can flare a lot but less than with the Samyang, not by much thought.

Tha built quality is better than the Samyang but is expected. The focus ring is much smoother, something that I did not expected. The one the Samyang was very stiff. In all, I am happy with the Pana, much more than my first purchase.

I've been contemplating this lens for about a year. It was hard to justify it because I already own the 7-14mm Lumix lens. I finally took the plunge and am very pleased with the fisheye. The bubbled effect is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I would totally recommend this lens to others.

This is a great lens. I use it for shooting video and it works as promissed. Unlike cheaper off-brand lenses the AF feature used with my GH2 makes this a must need when shooting creative scenes.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

I'm amateur photographer and this is my 2nd lens for Lumix GX1. As expected with a fisheye lens, taking photo is fun and exciting. You see the world in different perspective and the image captured are clear and I use it mostly to take landscape picturs for now, no more need to stitch up panoramas this camera capture it all in one shot. But the lens is very big so dirt get on the lense easily and it is very difficult to clean. My dog licked the lense and I am unable to clean the lens ever since.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 Lens:

Great fisheye for micro four thirds cameras. Small and lightweight and fun to use but not meant for flattering portraits as it can make your subjects to look like they belong in a carnival. My wife has banned me from taking pictures of her with it but I use it on as many other people as I can. You can get very interesting perspectives in really tight places and can keep almost everything in focus.

This is a fantastic lens! I'm a long time Canon shooter, and used most of wide-angles in Canon lineup over the years. None of them had a wow factor in sharpness this little guy has. Chromatic abberations are non-existant, and flare is well-controlled. Couple this with a tiny size, and this lens is a winner! A lot more spherical panoramas are in my future...

I'm using this lens on an E-P3, and the results I have obtained are nothing short of amazing. Chromatic aberrations are extremely well controlled, even when shooting subjects against the sun, and the distortion isn't extreme - just right for a fisheye for my taste. The lens is extremely sharp and very compact, macro capability is amazing for a fisheye. If you're a fisheye enthusiast and are on the micro 4/3 platform, I definitely would not hesitate to buy this lens. A similar quality dslr lens costs twice to three times more...
