The Kata LighTri-312 is a nice little torso pack and I would recommend it to someone that needs something compact and they don't have a need to carry more than one-body (as long as it's a crop or mirror-less body), one lens and maybe a flash. The strap is comfortable and substantially padded. If you need something compact and have only a few smaller or limited number of items to carry, then this is a great choice... especially for casual, quick day-outings where you don't need extra lenses, flashes, etc. It also comes w a nice cover in the event you get caught in the rain and want to keep your stuff dry.

I picked this up because I wanted something that is compact and can be worn as a sling for an upcoming trip because I will be backpacking and I need the ability to wear the pack in front or on the side while wearing a backpack simultaneously. The build quality looks nice. The high-vis yellow interior is nice so things pop and are easy to see. The dividers can be manipulated to fit different equipment as needed.

However, my Canon 6D, a prime and a flash were a fairly tight fit and I needed something w/ just a little more room to fit another lens and a few other accessories... so I ended up returning this bag and picking up a Maxpedition Colossus VersiPack.

The Versipack along w/ the Maxpedition Insulated 10x4" insulated water bottle holder seems to meet my needs better as it's padded, roomy enough for a full frame w/ a prime or standard zoom attached to fit in the main compartment, and the bottle holder can hold an extra telephoto. It also has plenty of extra pockets and compartments for other small accessories like cards, filters and lens caps. The Versipack can also be worn to the side. It's a bit larger, but the extra utility is worth it while still being comfortable to wear and allowing other attachments through the MOLLE/PALS webbing, if necessary.

The Maxpedition option isn't technically a camera bag, but w/ some ingenuity, it's easily manipulated into a fairly comprehensive solution for safely carrying camera equipment for travel. However, it was fairly more expensive than the Kata LighTri-312 and it was not near as compact, although still small enough to not be obtrusive when worn on the hip.

Although the bag could accomodate my D7000 + 35G/f1.8, voigtlander 20mm and a 55-200mm/f4-5.6, it never felt very comfortable when carried on the torso. When swivelled to the back the pack seemed to come away from the body requiring extreme tightening of the strap which produced more discomfort. Finally moving it from front to back required unhitching of the strap and then swinging the bag over with all the potential for an expensive spill associated with that action.

Comments about Kata LighTri-312 DL Digital Torso-Pack:

It's a well built pack but make sure it's big enough for your gear. It's a lot smaller than it looks. It's not their fault, it's hard to tell any of the cases from the pictures. It seems like it is a good quality bad. If it was as big as I thought I would have given it a higher rating.

Comments about Kata LighTri-312 DL Digital Torso-Pack:

It is well made and well padded, but I bought this bag to accommodate a Sony A6000 (with a Sony SEL1670Z Vario-Tessar T E 16-70mm F4 ZA OSS attached), plus a Sony E 10-18mm F4 OSS lens and the small Sony HVLF20M External Flash. Besides not fitting, the position of items in the bag makes it difficult to fast handling, what is expected of a sling bag. Also, the opening comes to an awkward position when I slide it to my belly.

Comments about Kata LighTri-312 DL Digital Torso-Pack:

A good bag that I find very comfortable & has a great balance between size & capacity. It is easy to use & the contents remain stable when the top is open.
If Kata were to add an external zippered pocket then I would give this 5 stars - at the moment all of the small miscellaneous items are all over the place.

Items that I have inside this bag are:
Olympus E-M5, 12-50 + 19 2.8 + 45 1.8 lens', FL600R flash with stand, Olympus flash, 2 x 52mm filters in pouch, 4xAA batteries, lens cloth, filter wrench, Kata weather proof overbag. These fit quite well & snugly.
I have now added the 75 1.8 lens & it is real tight (probably too tight).

I needed a camera bag to strap in front of me. I do lots of hicking, for a few days, and needed some rough gear to handle the elements. (i used to carry my camera alone strait, without protection, even in the rain...) I have a D300 + 17-55mm 2.8, and it fits perfect ! It does have a rain cover also, and is very rugged.

I have a Canon Kiss 3 (US spec T1I) with zoom lens. I prefer a minimalist bag, it fits both lens, lens cleaner, wallet, cell phone, camera in a compact protective over the shoulder bag. I searched many bags and previously owned a Tamrac which was a little large. The 312 is a great bag, great protection but keep in mind, a minimalist bag. I have taken it all over Okinawa and it's been great. Out of the way when I don't want to use the camera, and when I need it, I flip it in front of me. The quick release top is also great. I will not fit the zoom lens while attached unless I move the partitions around but I shoot w/ the standard lens most of the time and zoom sometimes. The greatest benefit is the light weight and compact design. I can't wait to take more pictures.

Comments about Kata LighTri-312 DL Digital Torso-Pack:

I bought the device to carry small accesories on video shoots. The torso pack is great ergonomically and allows a variety of devices to stored owing to its shape. I have used it to carry anything from a DSLR (7D with normal sized lenses) to Handicams to misc. audio equipment. The pack sets on your torso in a way that you can still wear your regular back-packs.

I use this torso pack with my Olympus E -P2 Camera. I carry the camera and lens attached, extra zoom lens, flash, battery charger and still have extra space.

                              Very easy to access camera.

Comments about Kata LighTri-312 DL Digital Torso-Pack:

Overall it's an excellent bag that can hold two small lenses and one body.

                              disavantage is that:
                              1. a long len is hard to fit, say 105mm micro nikkor
                              2. too few pockets. seems that you can only bring a cell phone, some card-size paper along with this bag. you don't even know how to fit in a 77mm filter
