Digital Inspiration. That's how the good folks at Canon define their EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens. With a camera body that features an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor, a 3" Clear View LCD, HD video capture, and an 18-135mm lens, among other mouth-watering features, perhaps you will agree. Let's take a tantalizing tour of this highly-anticipated DSLR camera kit.
Chief among the aforementioned "mouth-watering features" is the included Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS lens. Yes! It's true! But perhaps you've already divined this fact from the first paragraph and you're waiting for me to get on with it. The 60D is compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses; Canon has paired this 18-135mm model up with the 60D camera body, making for a value-packed kit that'll have you shooting from day one (everybody say yay!). The 18-135mm is a great starter lens that gives you a wide zoom range with which to shoot - capture those close, close-ups all the way out to breath-taking, far-reaching vistas - all with this single lens.
What was that? Did I say video? Yes, I did. Let's take a moment to delve into the feature that has all those techies out there jumping out of their desk chairs. The 60D is more than your run-of-the-mill DSLR camera, as we know; it doubles as a 1920 x 1080 HD video camera. With the built-in video camera you'll be able to capture MOV video clips up to 4GB in size (time depends on resolution).
With features like manual exposure control, the option to attach on any of the Canon EF or EF-S lenses, and various audio adjustments - including an external stereo mic connection, and both manual and auto gain control - the 60D puts DSLR film-making at your fingertips. Other noteworthy features of the video function include in-camera editing, a number of recording resolutions to choose from, and an HDMI output for one-cable connection to your HDTV.
Perhaps you should take a moment and catch your breath. Ok, here we go - back to the DSLR proper.
Let's ease back into things here. No matter if you're shooting video or digital stills the 60D captures everything to convenient flash memory cards - Record to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Canon also gives you the option to use wireless USB 2.0 drives, or Eye-Fi cards for computer-free wireless transfer of your images.
Now, back to the show... The 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor packs in enough pixel-power to make those mural prints you've only been dreaming of, a reality. But even if you don't plan on making a wall-sized mural of your dog romping through the surf, 18MP have other advantages. Sharpness, clear details, a lack of image-destroying noise, and true-to-life colors are all examples of how more pixels will make your images pop!
The 60D also features Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor. With DIGIC 4 you'll enjoy the benefits of fast shooting speeds, in-camera RAW image processing, creative filters, image resizing, and other exciting in-camera features. Enhanced Face Detection Live Mode, Full HD video recording, Auto Lighting Optimizer, and Lens Peripheral Optimization are additional features also enabled by DIGIC 4.
Another high-point of the 60D is the fully articulated (in layman's terms: flip out and/or swivel) 3" LCD screen. That's right boys and girls, the LCD opens away from the camera and articulates for viewing from multiple angles. You can also choose to leave the LCD in the traditional back of the camera position. When you're done shooting, turn the LCD in, and its back cover protects the display from damage.
When it comes to low light you want the option to shoot without a flash. Canon gave the 60D ISO settings from 100-6400 - and the option to go up to 12800 using the custom function. You have more options to choose from - and more opportunity to capture stunningly clear images, even in low light.
What else could Canon fit into this divinely, oh wait, I mean digitally inspired camera? A short overview; includes 5.3 frames per second continuous shooting, a 96% coverage viewfinder, a multi-control dial, a 63-zone dual-layer metering system, and a 9-point AF system.
In addition to these user-friendly features, the camera also boasts in-camera photo editing technologies. You'll be able to process RAW files entirely in the camera to produce a separate JPEG file - without a computer. Filters like "Grainy Black-and-White" and "Soft Focus Effect" also allow you to add an artistic touch to your images, sans post-production. Throw in compatibility with Mac and PC, along with a myriad of bundled software options, and the 60D is one camera that packs a powerful punch.
The improved DIGIC 4 Image Processor ensures that images are captured, processed and saved with remarkable speed. The EOS 60D DSLR's new 3:2 multiple aspect ratio, in-camera RAW image processing, creative filters, image resizing and provided S2 and S3 image-recording quality are all possible thanks to the DIGIC 4 Image Processor. With dazzling results, the new DIGIC 4 Image Processor also works to capture and process data of images shot at 18MP at 5.3 fps, as well as 14-bit signal processing for excellent image gradation, enhanced Face Detection Live mode, Full HD video recording, Auto Lighting Optimizer and Lens Peripheral Optimization
With 1,040,000 (dots/VGA) pixels for spectacular detail, the advanced, smudge-resistant monitor includes high transparency materials plus anti-reflective and water-repellent coatings to provide clear and bright viewing. Superb for reviewing, editing and deleting photos or composing new images in Live View function, the Vari-angle Clear View LCD monitor also allows access to camera settings like ISO, metering modes, AF Point selection, the horizontal Electronic Level and flash options
The audio input level feature offers both manual and auto gain control, up to 64 levels, and a wind filter minimizes unwanted background noise. By pressing the Quick Control button, a simple graphic user interface for adjusting image quality, white balance, image creation and other settings appears on the LCD. The EOS 60D even lets users edit video in-camera: On-site or off, unnecessary scenes can be deleted and the start/end points of video footage can be designated via in-camera editing functions without the need of a separate computer
Video can be captured at a number of resolutions and frame rates for numerous applications. It can capture 1920 x 1080 Full HD video at frame rates of 30 (29.97 fps), 24 (23.976 fps) and 25 frames per second, for up to 4GB per clip. Video footage is saved as MOV files and can be viewed in Full HD through the EOS 60D DSLR's HDMI output. Other recording sizes include HD at 1280 x 720 (50/60 fps) or SD/VGA at 640 x 480 (50/60 fps) -24/30 fps delivers cinema-like motion, while 60 fps is perfect for footage being uploaded to video-sharing websites. The EOS 60D also has a built-in microphone for simple mono recording and stereo sound can be recorded through a self-powered external microphone
The EOS 60D also features a horizontal Electronic Level, that, when activated, is superimposed on the LCD monitor to aid in achieving evenly leveled shots by indicating the horizontal tilt up to approximately 9° in 1° increments
Additionally, once you capture an image with the EOS 60D, you can digitally manipulate it in-camera with a number of creative filters for artistic and dramatic effect. Options include Soft Focus Effect to convey dreamy tableaus; Grainy Black-and-White Effect for a gritty, hard-bitten look; Toy Camera Effect - the deliberate vignetting and color shift technique popular in art photography - and Miniature Effect, which blurs the top and bottom edges of the image to emphasize perspective and conveys a miniaturized look of the scene
The 60D can also gives you the option to store recordings to external media sources like USB 2.0 or Wireless LAN/Eye-Fi card (Canon cameras are not guaranteed to support Eye-Fi card functions, including wireless transfer)
The optional Canon Speedlite 430EX II is a step-up accessory for powerful flash shooting with the EOS 60D. It has excellent flash power (maximum guide number of 141'/43m at ISO 100), and is the perfect way to get great flash pictures when you can't get right up to the subject. The 430EX II is also great for bounce flash, with its tilting and swiveling flash head. It automatically zooms the flash head to cover lenses ranging from 16mm up to 105mm or longer with the EOS 60D. Of course, it works with the camera to provide full E-TTL II automatic flash exposure. And the 430EX II has a powerful AF-assist beam, which allows the camera to autofocus even in total darkness on subjects as far as 32 ft. from the camera

I am a professional photographer specializing in Family Beach Portraits and Beach Weddings, so I don't really want to take a multi thousand $ camera to the beach, and have been using the Rebel T3i with a Sigma 17-70mm lens, but wanted a more robust camera and chose the 60D with the 18-135mm lens. My first photo shoot this week with this camera worked great.
PROS: I love the speed at which I can take pictures - I was working with a young child, who was not being very cooperative, and had to take the photos quickly when the opportunity arose, and they all turned out beautiful and very crisp.
I really like the Electronic Level feature, it helps with making sure my horizon is straight without having to do any straightening and cropping in post production.
CONS: I wish the lens had a lock on it as it suffers from lens creep very badly. I took 1 star off my rating because of this problem.
Overall I am very pleased with this camera and would recommend it.

Well, the image quality of this camera is similar than others that are not full-frame DSLR. So the kit worth it, even knowing that you'll need to get other lenses to get a little more sharpness in your pictures. Now, the problem with the 60D appears when you want to capture video with sound. I mean, there are some trouble to deal with recording video with most DSLRs. For example the autofocus... Any camcorder, can focus continously ten times better than the DSLRs (even than the new Rebel T4i)... Everybody knows that, BUT the real problem comes if you need to take good sound attached to the video. I am a professional videographer. I was told about the big adventages of recording video with a DSLR instead of an expensive video camera (the warm of the image, the cinema-like texture, the low-light performance), but nobody told me anything about the sound. First of all, you don't have headphones output to listen what is going on with the sound while you're recording. Second, metering the sound levels (vumeter) is only available inside a setup screen, not while recording. Probably you heard about Magic Lantern... It's a firmware modifier that allows you to use headphones (via USB output) but Canon does not support it. So, would you take the risk of losing your new camera? Well, I thought I could get use to record without listening, making some previous tests and watching the vumeter before recording, So, I plugged my professional Audio Technica Boom mic to the 60D and started to record.... But SURPRISE!!! When I heard in my computer, what was recorded, I heard a very low quality sound... How could it be? I ve been using this self-powered microphone (electret system) for years, and attached to different cameras with no problems. Specifically, this time the sound was full of medium frequencies. No low freqs at all. And the noise floor was close to the vocal levels (less than 30db between voices and the white noise it produces). For a smooth scene that is totally unacceptable. As a temporary solution (and after 10 attempts) and expecting to avoid to record sound separetely, I plugged the mic to an old video camera. Then, I connected the headphones output of the camera to the 60D mic input. Finally, I put the sound control level at the minimum in the 60D to get the lowest noise as possible. The sound achieved wasn't perfect but much better. In conclussion, If you're thinking to use the DSLR to make some videos or movies, and the sound is important to you, and you don't have time to synchronize it afterwards, think it twice.

I recently received my camera from B&H last week so I have not had it that long. I have taken it out to shoot it a few different times and it has worked fine over all.
One issue I encountered was a "Busy" signal when trying to take a shot. But gave it a minute and it took it eventually. I am new to this and am still learning so I am not sure what all that was about but basically I think it was just catching up internally.
Also, had the issue trying to change the shutter speed and I could not get the icon back up on the screen in order to change it.
Basically, all of my issues are most likely user errors which may be fixed over time when I learn the product.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm Lens:
I recently upgraded from a T1i and couldn't be happier that I went with the 60D. I almost purchased the 7D but the few benefits it gave over the 60D weren't worth the extra money for what I use my cameras for. The first thing I noticed when pulling it out of the box was the weight and build quality. It's really a whole different beast than the T1. Seems well made and very solid. The top LCD screen is so much nicer than only using the back, It took a little while getting used to it over my old camera but most buttons and features seem efficiently placed if that makes sense. It's easy to adjust setting on the fly and I personally feel the menu system is much better over the d7000 that I also considered purchasing. The performance at higher ISO is great and is well within what I would expect from a camera at this price point.
The kit lens does leave a little to be desired in sharpness, but given its range and price you can't expect much better. When I put my 50mm 1.8 II lens on this camera the pictures turn out just amazing; great color, accurate AF, and super sharp. So far aside from the softer than desired pics with the kit lens I can't think of a negative thing about this camera given the price range and my expectations. I CAN'T WAIT for my new upgraded Sigma 17-70mm lens to come in so I can take some really amazing photos.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm Lens:
I absolutely love this camera. It has the right amount of point and shoot modes for when I am chasing my kids and watching their sports, yet when it gets time for business I can dial in some great effects for my images. I am a small business owner and I have been putting my own website together and am shooting marketing videos as well. Super easy to shoot video with the image stabilisation and the auto focus during video record. The packaged software is no good, mine wouldn't even launch. I tried from the CD, the website, etc, but no luck. I didn't push the issue because I use Photoshop for processing the RAW files and thats how I prefer, but I was hoping to use Canon's Batch Processor to process multiple files... maybe I will try again. Other than that it is an amazing camera for the "pro-sumer" or business owner, or extreme hobby photographer.

This is my first Dslr camera, and I am very pleased. I originally planned on buying the T4i, but I bought the 60D because of the lcd panel. I wanted to spend more time shooting and less time looking at the main lcd screen, that is where the lcd panel on top comes in handy. The lcd panel gives me a quick reference and setting selections to make my photos great. Overall this is a great camera, and I am very pleased I bought the camera.

I am amateur photographer and I just sold my 40d and have bought 60d. The best trade ever! I love 60d much more than 40d. It is much lighter (40d was pretty heavy) makes better pictures and over all is just much better camera (of course it's my opinion). Love it!! Bad thing about this camera is lack of time, because I will be out taking pictures every single day, but I have to work also!LOL

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm Lens:
Being this is my first DSLR camera, the 60D has blown me away with its crisp imagery and loads of choices for ISO, shutter speed, etc. I primarily use this camera to take video. Unfortunately, there is no autofocus for video so you have to measure your distance from the subject, set the focus manually and hope the subject doesn't move too close or too far from the camera faster than you can pull focus.
This is a great camera for the low-budget or novice filmmaker. The LCD screen swivels side ways and up and down, which makes it easy to see when you're filming at extreme angles from above or below.
There is a steep learning curve for those who are totally new to DSLRs, but if you want more freedom and control than a simple point-and-shoot camera, the curve is worth traversing.
The controls are not quiet. They are audible doing video recording... so don't touch the dials!
The images are a bit blurry and grainy using high ISO in low light situations, but that may be due more to my own ignorance than the camera itself.
The battery takes 2.5 hours to charge and lasts about 4 hours, half of which is spent filming and the other half taking photos.
The camera is heavy and chunky. I definitely wouldn't want to sling this around my neck while hiking for 5 or more miles.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm Lens:
First off, I bought this camera primarily for VIDEO, not pictures. I'm a pro videographer and wanted this camera to shoot b-roll, second angles, and "artistic" shallow-depth of the field shots. So far, the video is difficult to control compared to a video camera, but I'm learning quickly and it looks SHARP. Can't wait to get more practice with it. I purchased the Canon 40mm pancake lens for video work - like it so far.
Second, I love pictures - and this thing takes amazing pictures. I'm not a pro by any means, but I've already taken some amazing pictures with this camera. The battery life is great, the pictures are awesome. Nothing "bad" about it that I've found so far. Oh, and the killer deal I got from B&H was awesome too!

I own the 20d, 30d, 40d & 50d cameras and the 60d is by far the best camera in quality of image and ease of use. What a great buy!

I have had a Canon digital camera for 10 years and decided to upgrade and the 60D is amazingly different from my XTi. What an improvement. I am so happy I decided on this camera.

I use the camera to take family photos, as well as general picture taking (landscapes, sky / clouds, cars, planes, and pets). Switching from my Rebel XT, to the 60D was very easy. Menus are very similar. Buttons and controls are a little different, but easy to get used to. Image quality is great. Great little camera, very happy with it.
