Comments about Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack:

Bought this bag tobe able to wear a backpack while treking in the wild taking picture. It became my main bag as soon as I've setup my gear in it.
It is big enough for my 1D body and a 24-105mm F4 mounted. And hold my other stuff as well.
The built quality is great, even though the padding seems a little thin. Padding is thin but protective enough.
Only downside is the removable cover for the bag, it is either taking space inside, or in danger of falling if installed outside. I use it as inside padding.

Comments about Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack:

After using this in the field, it turns out it's not for me. It's built great, fairly comfortable, but it's not a backpack like I thought. It's a frontpack...I couldn't find a configuration that worked for me while actually using when out and about...so I did return it to purchase something else. Not a knock on KATA by any means, just not for me...

Comments about Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack:

Though I haven't field tested it yet, I was surprised it holds everything I kept in my other bag. I have a D90 with battery grip, Nikon lenses 18-70mm, 50mm & 85mm. Fits it all, along with my accessories. I like the fact that it is compact, and when I sling it around in front, I can actually get to what I need...I don't feel my bag is attacking me...It's built well, and the access to the main compartment is perfect, as I said. I also like that it has a removable pouch (which holds my 85mm, but could fit both the 85mm and 50mm) that I can carry if I want to just use my camera strap without bringing the bag...

Comments about Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack:

I really wanted this bag to work out because I wanted a compact day bag. It's well built, has a lot of protection, flawless zippers, pockets etc. I tried it on with my gear but it just never felt right. I have an Olympus E3 with battery grip, 2-3 lenses including a 70-200mm. I tried it with less gear, changed the bag layout, but it in the end it never really felt as if it distributed the weight right, never felt comfortable.

Comments about Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack:

            I use D700 with 16-35/F4VR, 24-70/F2.8, 70-200/F2.8VRII
It can fit all of that in the main compartment, even when 70-200 mounted, but it's very uncomfortable wearing on me.

Just because - it's very heavy to carry all that gears by the "sling" type.
Or, I didn't wear it right, and I can't wear it in front of me all the time....

When I compare with the shoulder bag (Domke J-3) with the same gears, Domke J-3 give me more comfortable since I can switch the shoulder to left or right.

If you have a smaller set, it would be a good choice of a bag.

I gave 3 stars for its very good build quality and lightweight.
