The attachment works great for getting a bit more frame out of cropped sensor DSLR's. I don't see that it removes too much sharpness from the shot, nothing that couldn't be added in PS. For video, it worked great.

I'll definitely be picking up more for my other lenses, with these priced so low, you get a lot of bang for your buck!

Comments about Vivitar .43x Wide Angle Lens Attachment for 52mm Filter Thread:

I purchased it to use to get a particular shot but then I ended up buying a gopro and used that instead. I have used this lens for videos of my children, particularly my son's birthday party and it worked fine. I'm using it with a Panasonic HDC-HS900 with an adapter. I did not get any vinetting which was my main concern. It did not increase my view as much as I had hoped but overall I'm happy with it.

I purchased for a Lumix FZ200. Unfortunately this lens is not made for this camera. Even though the thread fits, there is so much vignette that it is pointless.

I use this product on a Lumix FZ-100. While the Lumix has a zoom with a pretty wide view at the short end, this definitely gives more coverage, even when you have to use something less than the shortest focal length setting to avoid vignetting. Still, it is a remarkable addition for the cost, and does a good enough job to enter the images it creates in the international competitions that I enjoy.

Comments about Vivitar .43x Wide Angle Lens Attachment for 52mm Filter Thread:

Well, for less than $13, it's hard to knock this too hard. Image quality definitely suffers when you put this on. I read other reviews saying edges get blurred, but really the whole image gets soft and only the very center looks in perfect focus.

Actual build quality feels pretty sturdy though. Solid metal and nice feeling rubber which allows you to separate the wide converter from the macro half of it. It was fun just using the macro half, allowing me to get within an inch of a subject. Of course depth of field is ridiculously shallow that way.

Used this with Nikon D5100 and several lenses including kit lens and manual focus primes. All of them had the same softness issue. Almost like a blurring of everything. So if you are looking for an adapter that just gives you wider field of view without changing anything else about the image, this isn't the adapter for you. I could only see using this as a special effects lens. I give 2 stars because at this price, you're not really losing much and maybe it could be useful for you.

Comments about Vivitar .43x Wide Angle Lens Attachment for 52mm Filter Thread:

I've been using this to throw some extra perspective into closeups taken with a Canon T1i and a 24mm prime lens. On that lens, I would say that the focal length multiplier is closer to 0.6x than 0.43x. On a longer lens (58mm), there's almost no difference. Center sharpness is good, but the edges are soft with awful chromatic abberations. This lens is best used for shots where the edges are going to be out of focus anyway. Overall, the optics are better than I would expect for [$].

Comments about Vivitar .43x Wide Angle Lens Attachment for 52mm Filter Thread:

I did exactly what DJ Black Rabbit did (wish I read his review before I placed my order), and got the same results: thinking I could get wide angle shots off my 50mm 1.8/f lens by just placing this attachment on the end, I was very disappointed by the huge (huge!) increase in the amount of softness. Unusable in the only way I intended to use it; such a shame.

I have only been using the product for a few days and I like how it gives a vignette touch on pictures and it does increase the area of shooting. Definitely worth the money

I use this with my Nikon D3100 with the stock 18-55mm it came with and works awesome.
I love how it comes in 2 parts and you use one for macro or both for that wide angle view.
Nothing bad to report on my end.

I used this on my canon 50mm 1.8 and my results were very very soft, I was warned of this but i didnt think it would be that bad, I was wrong. I would not suggest getting this.

This is a cool tool if you don't want to go out and spring for a complete lens. The quality is acceptable, and the angle it provides is pretty wide. The construction is durable.
