There's a 3M Pocket Projector for everyone, whether you're a busy business traveler, on-site manager, sales professional or you just want to share media with friends and family.

The 3M Pocket Projector MP180 is ideal for those who want to work, play or combine the two. If this little powerhouse was a car they'd call it "fully loaded." The MP180 combines 30 lumens of SVGA resolution (800 x 600) with a 2-hour battery which is perfect for everything from entertainment to instruction.

The MP180 works with any camera, laptop, game console or disc player with a video output. The two on-board speakers remove the need to tote heavy auxiliary sound systems. And the MP180 is an impressive performer. The powerful LED light source which lasts up to 20,000 hours can project an image up to 80 inches! Just pick a relatively flat, neutral colored surface and plug and play from your selected source.

But that's just the basics. Touch screen control replaces buttons to access files and functions. The MP180 is WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, with an on-board web browser so file transfer from a computer PDA or the Internet is a snap. The MP180 also supports file types and applications that you use in the office, such as Microsoft Word DOCs, Power Point, Excel, TXT and PDF. Video file support includes MPEG-4, H.264, MOV, FLV, and WMV as well as a wide variety of audio and image files. By accessing a WiFi hotspot you could ostensibly set up a mini workstation in a restaurant booth and screen an ad hoc presentation complete with images, audio or live content.

So whatever your needs or especially if your needs are constantly changing, the 3M Pocket Projector MP180 is hard to beat.

Perfect Pocket-sized Communication Tool
For people who don't need a lot of features or on-board memory, the 3M Pocket Projector MP180 is an ideal tool. Combining 30 lumens of brightness, full color gamut and SVGA resolution with 2-hour battery life, the MP180 merges an attractive feature-set with an affordable price.
Works with the Software You Use Every Day
The MP180 displays images and videos from computers and many mobile devices and it includes software to read PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat files. It's also compatible with various image, movie and audio files.
3.5 GB of Built-in Storage
This tiny projector has the memory of an elephant. It features 3.5 GB of on-board memory plus a microSD card reader which supports up to 32 GB.
Small and Lightweight
The MP180 weighs only 11.9 ounces and measures 5.9" in length, 2.5" wide and 1.3" high. It's small enough to fit in your pocket to take anywhere.
The Perfect Backup Projector
Murphy's Law says sooner or later a bulb is going to blow on you when you don't have a spare with you. Instead of a mad dash to locate a bulb, just take out your MP180, turn down the lights and treat your audience to a show that measures more than six feet across diagonally.
Use It on AC Power or Its Rechargeable Lithium Polymer Battery
You'll likely use your MP180 mostly on AC power. But it's nice to know that you're good for up to two hours on the rechargeable battery. Imagine! Not even a blackout can stop you from giving your presentation!
Four Charger Adapters
You can bring this mighty mite from the US to the UK, the European Union or Australia and you can use it or charge it from any wall socket, thanks to the 4 charger adapters included with the MP180.
20,000 Hour Lamp Never Needs Replacing
The LED in this projector will typically last 20,000 hours. To put that in perspective that's about ten years of 40 hours use per week, 50 weeks per year. That's beyond human endurance but it means you could easily use the MP180 in a kiosk or other semi-permanent or permanent display.

Basic objective to buy this product was for personal use. But it dispointing, because bluetooth functionality is limited for the transfering docs, not for pictures. Web brouser does;'t support flash. Touch keyboard is very tiny to touch the letters.

            Presentation made easy

Comments about 3M Pocket Projector MP180:

I am a marketing guy who always gets stuck off hand when it comes to explaining product details to my clients and not to mention each client has a complex way of connecting to the projector. I needed a projector that can play my presentations with great audio and video quality.

After conducting a thorough search I picked up the 3M pocket projector MP 180. The device works fine with my laptop where I store all my marketing related data. I did not find the need to buy extra speakers as the on board speakers worked great. I was able to connect to the pocket projector via my mobile phone also as it is Bluetooth enabled. I was surprised to see that the MP180 was touch screen enabled.

Comments about 3M Pocket Projector MP180:

I bought this project primarily to project photos and videos. This projector shouldn't be used at all with its internal flash memory. The thing shut down almost every time I tried to load even one photo on. It is unreliable. The picture quality is decent and battery life great at two hours. But how can you play what you want when the entire thing breaks down every time you want to use it? Pass on this one and wait until these pocket projectors advance in quality.

Comments about 3M Pocket Projector MP180:

Delivers the 'wow' factor at a good price, but could use a firmware fix to address a few bugs.

Compact, easy to use, it performs its main function well. The included international power adaptors, 2 hour operating time, and variety of connection options are good selling points.

Built-in storage, web browser, and file handling should be big selling points too, but not everything about that side of things is happy days.

It's a lot easier to plug in your phone or laptop and use that to browse web or display images and video. It's nice to have an option to use the internal storage, but the projector's operating system is not exactly cutting edge. It's clunky and fussy about video formats, sometimes freezing when attempting to play something it doesn't like. It cannot play HD files from its internal storage, and is fussy about frame rate.

So the big question, can it really project an 80 inch image on the wall as advertised? Well, it can, but at that size you need to be in a dark room, and even then movies may appear a little too dark. Bright photos might look ok, but 80 inches is pushing it for video.

I think a 70 inch projected image is a more realistic max size. At this size, the projector is positioned about 90 inches (230cm) from the wall.

To be honest, I think the sweet spot is about a 60 inch image size, which means the projector is about 175cm away from the wall. You can have a lamp on in the room and it still looks great at this size.

Best used on a normal camera tripod - the compact ones that can extend. 3M includes a tiny table-top tripod, which might be ok, but you can't adjust the height.

For office meeting room environments, if you can dim the lights and close the blinds, you can get a good image on the wall! You need to be close to the wall. Projecting straight on is also important with this projector.

The web browser doesn't have great performance. You are better off connecting your phone and browsing from there. If you have your phone connected, you may as well use that for playing everything. After messing around with the internal storage of the 3M and putting some images on and so on, it quickly became apparent that I would be mainly using this projector in conjunction with my phone or laptop, and almost never the 3M, except maybe a few images.

You can't have folders of images stored on the 3M's memory. There's only favourites. The OS needs some work. There should be more options for playing all kinds of video stored in memory, and the ability to put images and videos into folders. If these features were there, I would give it 4 stars, because then I could REALLY use it without needing my phone to run the show.

Connecting a laptop with the included VGA cable works well. There should be a way to momentarily turn off the bulb while the VGA is connected, but the 3M locks you out of any interaction except volume while the VGA is connected.

Bottom line, it's a great little projector for the price. Amazing compact size. Its flaws can mostly be forgiven, but I will be looking out for another firmware upgrade!

Comments about 3M Pocket Projector MP180:

This pico projector is brighter than most at 32 lumens so the projection is usable even in an office with lights on. It's very portable, the web browser works well as do the file viewers.

The only big drawback is I found it couldn't play back mpeg4 files. I transcoded some files down to 720x480 30fps 1033kpbs data rate and still the files play the audio track (102kbps 44khz stereo) but not the video. A spinner is seen which just runs forever. It's a shame as one of my intended uses was to play videos for an audience. Otherwise, it's a great product.
