Very handy: for transfers from our old Windows XP systems to new Windows 7 systems, and back-and-forth between the two new systems.
Win7 imposes yet another level of bewilderment to Microsoft network connections: this cable cut through the red tape. A week into the install I'm still struggling with Win7 network permissions, might just give up, LOL.
The included software Windows Easy Transfer needs to installed on XP systems, but is built-in with Win7.
Suggestions:
After connecting the cable to both systems, start the software (Windows Easy Transfer) on your source pc first, follow the prompts until it tells you to start up the software on the new pc.
A few clicks later it will establish connection. Let it digest what's on the source pc. Then untick everything in the two main categories shown. Then go into advance mode on one or both, and tick just what you want to transfer.
The top category is things like Favourites, My Documents, etc. The bottom category is more basic, just folder by folder listing.
I mainly used the bottom category, in advanced mode, to target specific folders. But I did resort to the top category for favourites transfer, which did not work properly when I tried to import a saved html file, earlier exported (the first half of the alphabet in the favourites did not import correctly).
Anyway, this is more or less a must have (no thanks to MS), well worth it.

Comments about Belkin 8' (2.4 m) Easy Transfer Cable for Windows 7:
This cable works very easily to transfer everything from an XP computer to a new Windows 7 one. Perhaps because of my hurry, I did not choose a more limited transfer option. Everything from the old computer was transfered to the new one, including a third party virus.... But, it was easy and fast and the virus was eliminated later.

After looking at the various options for how to migrate my files from my old computer (Windows Vista) to my new one (Windows 7), I decided to get this cable. It made it really simple--you use the included CD to install the transfer software on your old machine (Windows 7 comes with it preinstalled), select which files you want to copy, hook the two computers together USB-to-USB, then the data transfers. It took about 2 hours to transfer 50 GB.
