I got what was described
So far so good. It has not broken or had any problems. Fits my lens like it should. It does seem a bit flimsy, but with proper care, it should do its job.

Breaks easily
Easy on and off because there is no lining up of threads. However I snagged the hood on my camera bag flap while picking up the camera and it broke into pieces. Too flimsy ...Read complete review

Comments about Nikon HB-57 Snap-On Lens Hood for 55-300mm Lens:
It is the worst piece of equipment to ever bear the name, Nikon should seriously relook at its design. The fisrt hood I had fell apart after a few months whilst out in the field, I was stupid enough to buy another one and it promptly broke again after a month. Used superglue to fix it back but I'm handling it as gingerly as I would my expensive 135mm DC, but I have no doubt it will break again soon.

Comments about Nikon HB-57 Snap-On Lens Hood for 55-300mm Lens:
Mine broke when I was simply taking the lens out of my camera bag...fell into several pieces...horrible design. It needs to be threaded like all the other lens hoods...that way they don't just fall off, like this one does.

Brittle, flimsy piece of junk. Does anyone know if there is a sturdier version available?

Comments about Nikon HB-57 Snap-On Lens Hood for 55-300mm Lens:
Unlike the others that have posted their review of this lens hood, I have not had any problems. There are tabs on the side of the hood for easy/quick release. Unless I have have an "updated" version of this hood, its pretty solid, compared to other lens hoods I have seen. I keep the hood attached to my lens, and can have quick/easy access to it, if and when I need it.

Poorly constructed and poorly engineered.
Do Not Buy this product. It comes with the Nikkor 55-300mm lens.
I can't believe this is made by Nikkor.

This is the second time I have bought this product. Detaches too easily and is fragile. I prefer the construction of the hood that I have for my 18-200mm lens.

Comments about Nikon HB-57 Snap-On Lens Hood for 55-300mm Lens:
The hood came as part of a package and is really flimsy. I snapped it in place and could never get it to stay on. It is virtually useless. When I tried to return it to Nikon, they said they didn't guarantee it. Rip off
