The BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D from Canon is a very useful accessory to have on hand for your DSLR. It not only offers you the added convenience of a vertical shutter release but contains the additional benefits of AE/FE Lock, AF Point Selection, Magnify Button and Aperture Exposure Compensation. There is an easy-to-use attach/detach mechanism. The grip also provides extra heft to the camera giving you more to hold on to. It operates on either two optional LP-E6 Lithium-ion batteries or six optional "AA" batteries.

This grip fits perfectly, when combined with a hand grip the camera becomes such a well balanced tool that you don't have to think about hand positioning prior to taking your shots-it all comes naturally. The grip has a solid feel in either the horizontal or vertical, with trigger and shutter controls falling naturally under the index finger. It locks securely onto the base and still allows for a quick release (tripod) mount. The contouring gives a comfortable and secure feeling when holding in either position. Combine with Hand strap for a "part of the machine feel" in horizontal. (Camera feels very secure handheld in vertical)
It comes with an extra cartridge (and a storage pouch)to allow for the use of "AA" batteries, but it would require some very serious all day shooting to drain 2 Canon branded LPE6 rechargeables allowed by the standard carrier. Camera functions entirely with the trigger's On/Off switch in either position (Grip trigger and functions require the switch to be in the ON position in order to function). It also has a place to store the camera's battery door while the grip is in use. I can't imagine using the 60D without the grip, except MAYBE when used on a ball mount tripod. It does add weight, however any additional hand fatigue that would normally be caused by this is alleviated by the hand strap. The camera can be used with either one or two LPE6 batteries installed. I highly recommend going with two, as it extends shooting time immensely. I am very pleased with the Grip and it's performance, my only concern for rating it 4 vs. 5 is the cost. I see no practical reason why this should be nearly double the price of an XTI Canon branded grip.

The product itself is great and works as advertised. I purchased it based on all the reviews claiming the camera feels better in your hands with the grip. It may very well look more professional but in day to day use it adds unnecessary weight and bulk. The added battery life is negated by the fact that you can carry a spare battery with you in your pocket (this is actually better in cold weather, anyways.) Plus the 60D gets 1000 shots on a single charge. I do a lot of travel photography and the idea is to blend in as much as possible; the battery grip does not help towards that goal. My grip is off the camera more often than not. Unless you have VERY large hands I just don't see this grip being necessary for the vast majority of 60D users, myself included.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
The only drawback to this grip is the price. I have not used/played with any of the competitor grips but the only drawback I can find to the canon grip is the price. Competitor grips runs 25-50% cheaper. I love that I can now carry two batteries at once and throw in some 'AA' if the rechargeables die.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
This product does everything it's advertised to do. Shopped around and compared its reviews to the generic brands out there. Glad I did my research. Found that a lot of the generic brands have compatibility issues. Glad I spent the extra money to avoid any problems. Product worked like a charm after connecting it and gave me the extra grip needed to shoot vertically an minimize my chances of dropping the camera due to my having big hands. Other than the price in comparison with the generic brands I have no qualms and I would have given it five stars.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
This product can do more than you could expect. If you get two of those Canon original batteries, you can go outdoors and not being worry about running out of power. The good things is you can load the AA magazine, so you would be good to go for a long day. Also, this battery grip becomes very handy when you want to shoot vertically. After all, it a must-have accessory.

I bought and received this just in time for my daughters drill team competition. I used the double A battery option and used the camera the ENTIRE weekend and still have plenty of life left. I love that it has the option to use rechargeable or double A batteries.

I bought this since I do a lot of vertical shooting. It is very comfortable and fits my hands well. I did consider a 3rd party product, but decided to go for Canon after reading reviews of both. So far, so good.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I find my Canon 60D feels more stable and sturdy with the battery grip. I like the idea that I can add two canon batteries as well as AA batteries should I need them. I am able to use the shutter on the battery grip for portrait photos. The canon battery grip is well made and appears almost seemless when attacked to the 60D. It is well worth the extra money to buy the canon battery grip as opposed to a third party one.

Great for vertical shots. More expensive for the Canon version but I don't like to take chances with off brands. It's also nice to have the extra battery power.

Tried another brand, but the grip would drain the batteries in two days and would not recognize the right battery go figure?? The Canon grip is great and works great with my 60D. Live and learn by Canon for Canon.

I've used the battery grip for the Canon EOS 60D a few times since purchase and have had no problems whatsoever. I like the weight of it. it doesn't feel cheap at all of course because it's Canon. Its very responsive.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I purchased the grip for two primary reasons, the ability to run AA batteries in the even of not having any Canon batteries charged and to make shooting with vertical shots more comfortable. The grip does both of these tasks just as expected. I've also found that it gives a little extra support to the bottom of the palm and creates an overall nicer handhold when shooting regular horzintal shots as well. Deffinately worthile upgrade, especially at the price here on B&H.About the only gripe, and it's a minor one, you can sometimes roll the grip mounted dial with your palm by accident. This would seem to be something that simply requires getting used too.

I really love this accessory. It just gives the 60D the professional look and feel as well as great extended battery life. It is very functional and adds additional griping locations which have come in handy. I have been able to get good shots hand held in very low light because the grip allowed me to hold on and steady the camera with no tri pod.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I bought the Canon BG-E9 for long trips and shoots when access to power is limited. It is a great addition not only because it allows you to have two LP-E6 batteries but it allows for easier vertical shooting. It also adds more grip and weight to the camera, which is great. I haven't found anything wrong with it, it is another great product from Canon.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I am a profession photographer and cinematographer working primarily with HDSLRs. I have owned an array of camera bodies and have used the third party brands to save budget. Due to the plasticity of these other brands they fail to support the cameras solidly on a tripod or rig. The electronics also interfere with camera operations and even stop work at times due to error codes.
This canon grip, however is as solid as the camera itself and does not feel like an extension piece, but part of the camera itself. Very solidly build, all battery readings come through clearly with precise estimates. All of the electronics behave and perform as they should and batteries do not drain whilst not in use. This is a purchase you can feel very good about.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I bought this grip the same time I purchased my 60D a few weeks ago. Yes, I know there are 3rd party non-Canon grips for less price... BUT. I've been in the photo game too long and have been burned by the durability of non-Canon devices many times. So I wasn't about to take a chance with a 3rd party grip. So I bought the Canon grip. And I'm still glad I did.
This grip makes the camera fill my hand just right. The main reason for the grip is for vertical shooting though. A vertical grip is a must when you are holding a camera for a long time or shooting sporting events.
I like the fact there is an AF button on the grip just like on the body. In fact, it is exactly like the camera's grip as far as buttons go.
I did not have a vertical grip for my old Canon DSLR and missed it just about every time I used that older camera.
I love the fact it holds 2 batteries in the grip & I can use AA batteries if I want to. It performed great in cold outdoor conditions a week ago while snow shoeing & sledding. Plenty of power.
I just wish you could charge both batteries at the same time while they are still in the grip. Now my challenge is to find a bag that will fit my 60D+Grip + 70-200 2.8 L , as many bag reviews say they won't fit a 60D with grip.
Glad I bought it!
