        Comments about APC Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD 120V:

I use the UPS to support three personal computers and associated equipment (NAS, DSL modem, Ethernet switch, router, Wi-Fi, DVR, TV, etc.) My main requirement is that the UPS support critical devices through an extended outage and ancillary devices through a momentary outage (so they don't "reboot").

The SMT2200 fulfills most of my requirements. For my critical components it has a projected duration of 3 to 4 hours, with the non critical components shut down ten minutes into an outage. The PowerChute software (either PC or NMC based) allows me to specify my needs. Setup and implementation are relatively easy and intuitive.

On the downside, I'd say that the "features" of the hardware/software are not accurate until you update the firmware on the SMT2200. This is because they have recently upgraded their software and the device you receive may not be configured with the most up to date software. My main complaint about the hardware is that there is no provision for an additional external battery(ies). As I mentioned above, duration is of primary importance to me. I may be able to work out some "add-on", but I don't know what it will do to the total product. One minor quibble: the documentation leaves the removal/replacement of the batteries as an exercise for the user - I had to remove the batteries in order to heft the UPS upstairs to its intended location.

We had two older models and recently decided to replace those and add 5 additional APC Smart UPS's. They are incredibly reliable.

The unit was easy to setup and has operated flawleely from the first minute! We have already had a momentary power loss and the UPS operated as advertised.

              Comments about APC Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD 120V:

I had a specialized requirement for some electronic equipment that required a sine wave output instead of the standard square wave output that most Backup UPS systems delivered. this equipment met the need precisely. It also replaces four other UPS I have and consolidates them into one upS.
