The LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Network Monochrome All-in-One Laser Printer from HP prints at up to 26 pages per minute with the first page out in as little as 8.5 seconds. The printer's 600x600 dpi delivers quality documents in sizes ranging from a 3.0x5.0" index card to a 8.5x14.0" legal-sized document. Thanks to driver-supported manual duplex printing, it's easy to conserve paper and reduce clutter by printing on both sides of the page.

The printer's internal 128 MB of memory handles complex documents without slowing down your computer. The unit can be easily connected to a local wired or wireless network or to a standard computer USB port. Additionally, the M1536dnf is compatible with HP ePrint. Print from wherever you are by emailing a file attachment to your printer's unique email address (assigned during installation). When you get back to the printer, the document will be waiting for you in the output tray. For Apple users, the M1536dnf is compatible with AirPrint.

The M1536dnf's 35-sheet auto document feeder provides an easy way to scan, copy, or fax multipage documents at once. The machine can copy up to 19 ppm and can produce up to 99 copies in a single job. Copying options include resizing, copy quality, and copy quantity. ID copy lets you copy both sides of a document onto 1 page. Additionally, the M1536dnf supports manual duplex copying, allowing you to copy a 2-sided document.

The 1200dpi image sensor lets you scan high-quality color and monochrome documents to the computer. Take advantage of the 35-page ADF and digitize multipage one-sided documents to reduce paper clutter and move towards a paperless office. Using the ADF, the scanner can handle page sizes up to 8.5x14.0".

The M1536dnf has a full-featured fax unit with a 33.6Kbps modem that transmits pages in as little as 3 seconds. The machine features 120 speed dials, a 400-page fax memory for when the printer is out of paper, fax forwarding, broadcasting, auto-redial, and delayed sending.

In stark contrast to a previous review, I found this MFP super-easy to use.

The assembly of the unit is color-coded and straight-forward for anyone who has assembled a printer in the past decade. The build quality is typical of HP's current offerings, that is to say quite good; it's made of mostly high quality, durable plastics with very little metal which also keeps the weight down.

The control panel is, again, straight-forward for anyone who has used a copying machine before. Buttons are clearly legended and copying machine functionality has dedicated buttons. For deeper-level functionality (network, duplex copying, etc...) the LCD has a menu-driven UI which is pretty intuitive.

This MFP is also out-of-the-box compatible with Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) and later. It simply needs to be plugged into the network and the MacOS will find it and install all the basic functions (printing, scanning, duplex, etc...). It's not as easy on Windows, as you have to download and install the driver from HP's website, but it works flawlessly once it's installed. I have had no problems scanning in Acrobat Professional (on a Windows machine) or in Preview (Mac OS).

I wish HP had a printer in this home-office category that would add the following:
      1. standalone scanning/e-mailing
      2. color
      3. Wi-Fi
      4. Tabloid (11x17) scanning and printing

Unfortunately, I am spoiled by the Enterprise-class HP printers at work... Until HP up-guns this class of printer, this m1536 is my every wish come true for my home-office!

Had to guess my way through in assembling the parts, since no instruction manual came with the new machine. No explanation came for dealing with the complex keyboard of the unit. Attachable trays look too flimsy and easily breakable. When machine couldn't link with the iMAC a long conversation with HP tech support finally discovered that the software and drivers to work with the Leo operating system had not yet been developed. Machine returned to dealer to seek a different Multifunction Monochrome machine by another manufacturer, if one exists to work with my iMAC/Leo unit.

          Affordable LaserJet exceeds expectations

Comments about HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Network Monochrome All-in-One Laser Printer:

While looking for an inexpensive workhorse printer with network capabilities, I ran across the HP LaserJet M1536dnf. Installation was a breeze and the footprint of the printer was smaller than the inkjet printer it replaced, which in my small work space was a plus. I was impressed by both printing, scanning and copying speeds. The scanning interface is intuitive. I have used many HP printers over the years and have always been impressed by the durability of their products. If you are looking for a networked printer that is affordable, durable and easy to operate, the M1536dnf is an excellent choice.

We wanted a printer that we could use to print from our ipads/phones. This one has airprint and it is super easy. Keep in mind it doesn't have wireless internet though so it has to be connected via an ethernet cable. I was able to use one of those ethernet jacks that plugs into an electrical outlet and carry the internet to the printer that way. It prints quickly and clearly and we love that it is both a scanner and a laser printer. Service from B&H was quick and we are very happy with our purchase!

I got the printer for my wife's consulting business, so she is the primary user. I had no problem setting it up and the software installed quickly. My wife, a technophobe, has not had any problems printing from either her hard drive or from the web. I link to the printer via wifi, and The printer worked fine for me as well. The printer is speedy and the output in normal mode is of good quality (similar to the HP 2050 I use at my day job). I have not used the scanner function yet, nor have I enabled the fax. However, I did try the copying feature and that worked fine. In short, no complaints, yet (I've only had the printer for 3 weeks)
Note: 4 stars only because I haven't had the item long enough to determine long-term reliability , nor have I tested all of the functions on the item

Comments about HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Network Monochrome All-in-One Laser Printer:

Had to guess my way through in assembling the parts, since no instruction manual came with the new machine. No explanation came for dealing with the complex keyboard of the unit. Attachable trays look too flimsy and easily breakable. When machine couldn't link with the iMAC a long conversation with HP tech support finally discovered that the software and drivers to work with the Leo operating system had not yet been developed. Machine returned to dealer to seek a different Multifunction Monochrome machine by another manufacturer, if one exists to work with my iMAC/Leo unit.
