The Strap Buddy Camera Strap Buddy is a simple way to carry a digital SLR camera body with a longer lens attached. It attaches 1 side of the camera strap to the tripod mounting hole on the bottom of the camera. It changes the camera's orientation rotation and the camera now points down. This orientation lays the camera flat against the side in a comfortable position. The camera buddy keeps the camera close and reduces bouncing or swinging of the camera.

Good idea. Much better way to carry the camera then around the neck hanging in front of you. Would be nice if the monting screw was designed with a tripod mount to avoid having to remove and reattach the strap anchor. To get the camera in a better hanging position I would recommend a third party camera strp as the manufacturers strap is too short to hang from neck and shoulder across you body to get the camera on your hip.

I bought the Camera Strap Buddy because of the image on the front of a camera slung across the chest of a woman.
It may be suitable for a man, but not for me and my figure. It would just hang more awkwardly than when around my neck.
It also didn't look sturdy enough to hold my Mark III with 24-70mm lens. The photo showed a large lens, but when I put it on, it didn't seem strong enough. That, and the poor fit, means I don't recommend it.

I use this Strap Buddy with an Optech sling type strap with the other side of the strap connected to the non-grip side of my D600. Mounted in this way it leaves the grip free of any dangling strap and still holds the camera in comfortable position.

Love this! I use a cinch camera strap, and this little addition really helps to keep the camera snug against my side without the lens flopping outward. Also it stops the strap attached to the bottom of the camera from fraying as there is less friction (swivels instead of having the strap attachment rubbing a stationary attachment point).

I use this on my 5d Mark II. Keeps the lens part of the camera pointed down instead of out where it can easily bump into objects. I like it.

Really cool idea, rather than your camera sticking out and bumping things when it's around your neck, the Strap Buddy, let's you keep it comfortably at your side, facing down. Especially useful if you have a long lens.
Also makes it easier to conceal your camera if you don't want to always appear like a tourist.
The only downside is for some reason it squeaks; I noticed whn I was walking and the camera was shifting slightly it would make a noise. I might be able to solve it by lubing it a bit but it's still annoying that I should have to.

Comments about Camera Strap Buddy:
Installation is a breeze using the DSLR's tripod mount. The rubber o-ring holds the contraption well in place, mine hasn't budged even by a hair since installation. Compatible with the usual camera straps but certainly also clip-ons, etc. Finally my D7000 hangs lens-down on my side or my back, it's a joy to carry now!
Two main (yet small) issues:
1) Maybe it's due to the Nikon D7000's weight distribution or the strap loop positions, but I feel connecting the strap to the Strap Buddy and the loop on the right (camera hanging on my right side) is weirdly balanced to hang the camera on the (right) side - this configuration is actually more comfy for carrying the camera behind my back. Switching sides to the left holds the D7000 perfectly face-down when on my side, but flips it when moving it further to my back.
Looping the strap through the left is awkward in balance, too, likely because the strap loop is pointing sideways. YMMV, worthwhile experimenting with the different configurations. I'm sticking with the Strap Buddy and camera strap strung through the right side.
2) The whole contraption screeches and squeeks somewhat when moving, I guess some thin cloth or felt bushing underneath the metal part would remedy this though.
Overall, very recommended little thing.

I picked this up standing in line waiting to speak to a camera specialist. It definately caught my eye as I immediately saw the need I had for this as well as realizing the added comfort it would bring. I will definately buy more for my other cameras next time I am in the store!

Nice relax position, the camera does not feel as awkward at rest on you when pointed down. It swivels nicely to position. One thing, it's a little squeaky, have not cared enough yet to remedy.

Comments about Camera Strap Buddy:
I like to use a hand strap AND a normal neck strap. Because there is no lower body strap attachment on the canon 5D M2 or 3 the Strap Buddy is great because it gives you a place to attach the earlier model hand strap (the new one works well with this device but costs [$]).It holds well and rotates easily.

Comments about Camera Strap Buddy:
Seems fairly well made and does exactly what it's designed to do, allows the camera to hang at your side rather than straight in front of you. Be aware that the Strap Buddy does occupy the camera's tripod mount, requiring removal to attach a tripod plate.

It's working as expected. But the issues is that it uses the tripod mount which means you have to take it off when you want to use a tripod.

Lets the camera hang in a much more convenient position, that is, with the lens down rather than out.

Comments about Camera Strap Buddy:
This device did exactly what I expected, AFTER I filed off all of the black anodize on the aluminum thumb screw shoulder. The thumb screw diameter was too large to fit into the outside diameter of the stainless steel strap clip (metal plate). Only after I filed off most of the black anodize on the thumb screw did the strap clip fit over the it. This is a good design and the material quality is good, however, they need to pay a little more attention to quality control.
