The MobilePre Mk II from M-Audio is a USB audio interface that turns a Mac or PC computer into a powerful music recording and production studio. The unit makes it easy to record guitar, vocals, keyboard and more with pristine sound quality. The included Pro Tools SE music creation software is based on the same Pro Tools application used in studios around the world, while the interface also provides broad software compatibility - from Pro Tools M-Powered 8, to GarageBand, Logic, Live, Record and more.
The unit allows for simultaneously recording two sources with 24-bit/48 resolution, while the four convenient top-panel knobs control input gain and output volume. The topology of the unit provides for monitoring and recording without latency at the press of a button. The included easy-to-use Pro Tools SE music recording and creation software lets you create music with up to 24 tracks, and also includes a huge loop library and over 100 virtual instruments to build out your mixes. Add EQ, reverb, and other built-in effects to make your music sound professional.
The MobilePre features switchable +48V phantom power, so you can connect a studio-grade condenser powered microphone for professional-quality recordings. The interface's two-input, two-output design lets you record a vocal microphone and another instrument simultaneously, so you can capture song ideas, or collaborate with other musicians.

I haven't done anything musically in about six years.
My friend recently wanted to do a Podcast,
so I needed an interface, and wanted to get the Pro Tools software.
I've been unemployed for a year, so couldn't afford the full version, but the SE has everything I need for now, and more.
There's some great YouTube tutorials to learn the software fast.
When I'm back to work, I will definitely get the full version. Incredible how far recording and editing has come. M-Audio and Pro Tools are an unbeatable combo...

This is cheap feeling compared to other interfaces on the market. M-Audio does not even have this interface listed on their web site. I purchased mainly for the software and that was not worth me keeping this cheap interface so I returned and purchased a Focusrite. I did not have any software conflicts with the M-Audio like I've had with the Focusrite Scarlett but I've downloaded some fixes and its fine now. I did not like having the dials on top.

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
I am extremely satisfied with this product. Its dual front and rear inputs make it extremely versatile, while the gain knobs are actually gradual (not 1, 2, 11!). It has a tiny footprint, and definitely pulls its own weight with phantom power. I would definitely recommend this to anyone getting their first preamp.

After having previous issues with compatability with my existing sound card and getting the right drivers the MobilePre took over the job and worked right off. The Pro Tools SE took no time to catch on to and was just plain fun. I'm looking forward to the challange of adding midi to my audio tracks.Good online support and tutorials

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
I needed a USB interface to pipe my radio broadcast from home studio to radio station over Skype. when I tried to use my Tascam US-1800, signal was being received as a stereo signal. To solve this problem I bought the smaller MobilePre Mk II interface and slaved my Tascam US-1800 through the MobilePre Mk II. I can now utilize 8 microphones as well as MIDI inputs and music from another computer for the Broadcast, all into the Tascam US-1800. That way I only use one Out port to the MobilePre. Voila! Station receives clear strong signal in mono. It's seamless and easy. It all Skypes over as mono and delivers an excellent sound to my Engineer at the Station. You can run the MobilePre Mk II in XP but make sure you have the Service Pack 3 installed.

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
I have a home studio and wanted to encourage a grandchild who has shown some interest. This unitis just the ticket...good, affordable, non-intimidating. Don't like the software; will teach her another that I am more familiar with. Also, was disappointed you need to spend another$20 to download mp3 capability for the software. Cheap! B&H, by the way, as usual had the best price, best service, best attitude.

This was a replacement purchase for a unit I lost in a move. Overall, I'm happy with the sound card: I like the dials on top but would prefer that you could make volume changes digitally, i.e., why make it analogue when the computer can control that feature...

I use the MobilePre to input music into Pro Tools and Garageband.
It's great that I can connect my microphone and guitar.
It's not so great with correcting latency and the guitar so far is not showing up in Pro Tools. Correctible I hope.

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
This product works as intended, records great and give a clear sound on the output. With front and back connectors, make sure to get yourself some F-RCA to M-1/4 jack MONO adaptors if you want to use the back connectors. Also, make sure your computer is set to a high performance power scheme or you get very bad sound quality. The 4/5 rating is mainly due to the fact that it doesnt take much to make the card clip on the input, make sure to adjust source properly.

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
The MobilePre Mk II is a really good product for small scale projects. M-Audio (Avid) makes wonderful products. The version of Protools that comes with this product is not very useful but it gets small projects done. I would recommend this to anyone getting started with audio recording and editing. Great buy! Also, B&H is a great source for your equipment.

Excellent low-price alternative for Fast Track Pro. It's very convenient to install and use. Tried it on Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. Additional gain and volume top-panel knobs are very useful and add a huge plus to the device. There's a switchable +48V phantom power, so you can connect a condenser mic.
Despite the fact that MobilePre MKII is only 2-channel audio interface it's perfect for home music production. It's even can be used for daily use.
I didn't find any serious disadvantages of MobilePre

I love the mobilepre itself: great sound quality, low latency, dual-use inputs. Just an all around awesome product for the price.
But, I had nothing but trouble with the included pro tools se. Feedback and distortion made it impossible to record anything. Switching to ableton live fixed all that.

Comments about M-Audio MobilePre Mk II - USB Audio Interface:
I am using it with Mac OS X Lion and works smoothly. Can change from internal audio to the MObilePre without any need to reopen software or anything like that.
Not rating it 5 stars as I think it lacks the possibility to switch off - when i put iMac to sleep the power led still keeps turned on, not sure if it would affect lifetime in anyway but would be better if it would switch off automatically or have a manual switch.
