Product Highlights
  • Adapts Minolta MD or MC Lens to Sony NEX

One of the most appealing aspects of small mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 is the availability of a wide range of interchangeable lenses, including non-Sony lenses. This Novoflex Adapter for Minolta MD or MC Lens to Sony NEX Camera makes it possible to mount a Minolta MD or Minolta MC lens to your NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera with a precision mechanical adapter. Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Minolta MD or MC Lens to Sony NEX Camera:

This is the most expensive Minolta SR/MC/MD to Sony E-mount adapter there is. Is it the best?

              Pros
              * Well made and sturdy.
              * Strong springs hold the lens tightly.

              Cons
              * The flange focal distance is short, allowing lenses to focus past infinity and making zoom lenses not parfocal.
              * For some lenses, the lens release button needs to be depressed to mount the lens, not just to release the lens.
              * There are no baffles or flocking.
              * The price is insane, especially if you also need the optional tripod mount.

The incorrect flange focal distance is egregious given the price and Novoflex's claims of precision. Ultimately this very expensive adapter is no better than an inexpensive adapter like the big_is brand adatper with tripod mount that I'm using now. A Rayqual adapter is also probably worth considering, though I haven't tried one myself.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Minolta MD or MC Lens to Sony NEX Camera:

I use the product to adapt my old Minolta MD lenses to the SONY "E" mount cameras, the Sony Alpha 7R in my case. Even though the specifications only listed the NEX cameras, I figured E-Mount is E-mount and it should fit.

It works quite well. A bit tight with the MD lens mount end. Lens functionality, such as stopping down when taking the picture is not supported, but you can stop down manually for depth of field control.

Be aware that some MD lenses must be manually set to the shooting arpeture before mounting on camera. The trip lever must be mechanically moved in order to release the focusing full open arpeture. Just look down the lens and move the arpeture ring. It will be obvious what you have to do.

Glad to be able to use my old lenses. Macro and Telephoto are not available in E-mount.

Use it on my Nex-7 to attach Minolta MC/MD lenses. The price is high but its a very high quality adapter. The first one B&H sent me was way too tight when trying to attach the minolta lenses to the adapter, B&H sent me a replacement and it worked perfectly, just right.

Works perfectly with my old minolta lenses. There are cheaper adaptors out there...not sure about the quality so I went with this one and paid a little more just to be safe.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Minolta MD or MC Lens to Sony NEX Camera:

I bought this adapter mount for my Sony NEX FS-100. It allows me to use all my old Minolta MC and MD primes from the 1970s. Until this was available, I had to make do with a $20 chinese made adapter. It worked but barely, the quality was very low and the lenses would come off while changing apertures if I wasn't careful. This Novoflex is really of great quality, a major difference in fit and finish. A night and day difference. It costs 10 times as much as the one I owned previous but well worth it. The Novoflex has a firm positive fit for both the lens and the camera. Nothing loose, nothing wobbles. Highly recommend.
