One of the most appealing aspects of small mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 is the availability of a wide range of interchangeable lenses, including non-Sony lenses. This Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera makes it possible to mount a Nikon lens to your NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera with a precision mechanical adapter. Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

This adapter works like a charm. I've used it with primes, zoom and telephoto lens. Anywhere from a 17-35 f2.8 to a 200-400mm f4. No problems, no vignetting. With manual lenses, just set the stop on the adapter fully closed down and then drive the f-stop from the lens to get a real idea of your exposure on the scale. I traveled with this adapter to Cambodia didn't experience any problems with the shift in temperature as we traveled. Pretty solid and reliable. Just make sure you support the bigger lenses like a 70-200mm f2.8.

This adapter is built with high quality materials and well finished, but it is much more expensive than the other brands now available. I use it to fit my Sony Nex-5 with some Nikon prime lenses such as the 105mm f/2.5 manual focus. I primarily work with Nikon or Sony reflex cameras and keep one or two Nex-5 bodies in my bag, fitted with the lenses that are rarely used, so I don't need to change lenses in the field, wasting time or risking to get dust trapped inside the camera bodies. One such lens could be my Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 Fisheye, but for my disappointment this lens revealed a major problem in the manufacture of the Novoflex adapter. I got vigneting from the small sunshade because the lens mount is slightly twisted, rendering this combination useless unless a good amount of cropping is done! Other problems are the lack of a scale in the f-stop lever and the awkward lens release lever. To much for the price charged.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
Just purchased this adapter for my Sony NEX-7 camera.
Let me just say that this adapter is built VERY WELL. Great construction that connects very well with the camera body.
It's definitely an adapter that I would leave on the NEX-7 body, and just switch my Nikon lens on the front mount when I'm out shooting.
My ONLY two gripes with the adapter is the release pin for the Nikon side. It's really small and not very ergonomic. It's not bad, but not great either.
The other gripe is it doesn't come with a Nikon body cap (although it comes with the E-mount body cap). So I went out and purchased a Nikon body cap so that I could just leave the adapter on the camera. The Nikon body cap does not stay firmly on so when I'm not using the camera anymore, I'll have to take the adapter off.
Those are the only 2 downsides.
It's definitely pricier than a lot of other adapters out there, but, with me being a working professional, the saying: "you pay for what you get" is so true.
AND, I forgot to add that this adapter WILL adjust the iris on your Nikon lenses that don't have the iris ring.
Works really nice and smooth.

This is a very well made adapter. The fit and finish are excellent. Purchased this to use my 80-400 Nikkor on the NEX-7, works great.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
I have had the unit for almost a year now and noticed an increasing problem with the lens not seating tightly when attached. The lens twists and clicks on the adapter just like my camera but on the adaptor it does not seat tight after the click. The slight movement of the lens back and forth changes the aperture setting when I focus. I have looked for a way to adjust the adapter but not found that.

Spend the extra $$$; it's worth it!. This adapter is German made awesome! I have it on my Sony NEX-FS-100. The two were meant for each other. My NIKON lenses fit perfectly tight. Also has an open Aperature mode that will keep it wide open if you so desire.
I was using a Sony EX1 with Letus DOF adapter. Compared to that set-up (which worked quite well in 2009) this thing is a dream. Sony will never make a camera with a NIKON mount. This thing could NOT be any better if Nikon or Sony would have made it themselves. Novoflex ROCKS!
PS No more worring about vibration from the Letus!

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
When I was purchasing the Sony FS100, I knew I was going to want to utilize my Nikon Lenses on the camera. So, I started the search for a good mount.
I didn't want to go cheap and buy a mount from resale sites, so I looked to BH for some mounts and this was the one that really caught my eye a few months ago.
So, this Novoflex adapter is super sturdy. I am very happy with the mount. I have tested out other cheaper mounts from fellow camera operators that have purchased the cheaper ones for their NEX 5 cameras, but this one feel very very sturdy. And the aperture control on this adapter is very smooth and I really like that.
The only thing that bothers me is the lens release switch, it is very small and sometimes hard to get the lens off.
But overall, very happy with the adapter. If you get it, you won't regret it.

Perfect fit. Some of my lenses slide on and off this thing easier than they do my Nikon bodies. While you dont get numeric feedback of your aperture, every other feature of this is perfect. Solid build, and it works!

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
Positives; Well constructed, easy to handle, fits all 5 of my Nikon lenses. 1 Nikon Sigma, 3 older style Nikon with F rings, and 2 modern nikons with no F ring.
Negative: There is no indication of the F-stop being used. The rig does not have markers and the digital display does not indicate to the user. If you choose to use the F ring on the lens for those that have one, you must first turn the adapter ring all the way to one side.
Lastly and a minor thing, the switch to release the lens is very small. If wearing gloves, as I do with ski photography, it is hard to remove the lense from the adapter.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
This adapter fits perfectly and is a joy to use. The instructions don't explain what the sliding tab is for except to say turn it to the left when mounting a lens. The left setting is for having the aperture set "in camera". The right setting allows you to set the aperture with the lens. It would be useful to list the physical dimensions in the on-line listing.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
The adapter joins the camera and lens seamlessly, as if everything were designed as a unit from the start. I use it on an NEX-5N, which is worthy of my Nikon lenses and being treated as serious photo equipment. The aperture dial operates firmly and smoothly. It would help if the instructions for mounting the lens were a little more conspicuous than small print on a piece of paper you might accidentally throw away. Mounting a lens is easy enough, you just have to turn the adapter's dial all the way open before putting the lens on. To use a lens's aperture ring instead of the adapter's, the adapter's ring should be turned to the smallest setting. All of my Nikon bayonet manual and electronic lenses work with the adapter. The NEX-5N has functions similar to the Nikon F3 when using the adapter, that is, manual focus and manual exposure, or else aperture preferred automatic exposure. Using it comes naturally to someone used to pre-electronic film cameras. The expense gives pause, but it is a lot less than outfitting the camera with new lenses of the same caliber. No corners have been cut in manufacturer and the machinists doubtless earn a decent living.

This is a great product to have for a FS100, with capability of using any nikon glass without needing a manual iris ring.
The only bad thing about this product is that the adapter does not snap into place on the E mount.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
I got this adapter with the best of intentions because of my collection of Nikon lenses from Fisheye to telephoto. It would have been wonderful to use them on the Sony NEX 5n, a marvel of a camera that is fast becoming my favorite. After tests, we realized that the Sony NEX 5n works best with its own lenses because --as it currently happens with many manufacturers-- the camera can automatically correct the images for distortion, chromatic aberration, vignetting, etc. The bottom line is that the images with non-Sony lenses come out OK, but never as fantastic as Sony's, even the cheapest 18-55, pancake, and 55-210. (We even tried the non-Sony lens shots with apertures 2-3 stops down -- they came out slightly better.)

I'm a 40 yr. Nikon user. And this little Nex is a great camera. I tried another brand of adapter and there is no comparison. The adapter will be used with the Nex 7. And since I shoot with lots of Nikkor "long guns", I'm looking forward to putting this adapter with the Nex7 & a Nikkor 800mm. Should be something!

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Nikon Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
I bought this to use with my FS100 after having issues with a cheaper adapter. The old adapter had a light leak where the lens release button was and would cause the image to have a strange "under exposed" look to the right side of the frame. I dealt with it by putting gaff tape over the hole, but after purchasing a Tokina 11-16, the lens had way too much play on the old adapter so I knew I needed another option. This is when I purchased this adapter.
The mount has no play at all on either end, and the aperture ring is very, very smooth (and labeled with open/closed symbols). Although the throw is short because of the nature of Nikon lenses, it's still stiff enough to dial in a precise exposure or look.
