The Lensbaby Scout Fisheye Lens for Canon EF not only delivers a unique fisheye extreme wide-angle view of the world, it throws in a couple of other fascinating creative options. The 160° angle of view will generally produce a circular image nearly surrounded by black with a full-frame camera, and black in the corners of the image with an APS-C sensor camera. Not only do you get extreme depth of field due to the ultra wide-angle view, but the Scout with fisheye will focus to as close as 0.5" from the lens, for truly incredible macro photos. Using the included aperture disks, you can select an aperture from f/4 to f/22. On top of that, you can use the lens flare that appears when the lens is pointed towards a bright light source as another creative resource.

This is the first Lensbaby lens that doesn't bend, so the fisheye image is always perfectly centered in the frame. Best of all, the Scout mount is compatible with all other Lensbaby Optic Swap elements (all available separately), so you can remove the fisheye lens and have access to the entire range of creative photographic effects available from Lensbaby.

The Lensbaby Scout Mount--unlike its predecessors the Muse, Control Freak and Composer with Tilt Transformer--is a fixed lens with a single point of focus. With its Fisheye Lens, owners of the Scout are provided the creative latitude that professionals have experienced without having to pay twice the price.

If you're anything like me, you dream of the day that you'll be able to purchase prime lenses, but realize that your budget won't allow for it for at least another couple of years. In the mean time, do yourself a favor and purchase a Scout Mount to keep your creative juices going...you won't regret it!

Great little lens for the price. Manual focus and manual aperture are standard. The manual focus is fine, but changing the aperture disk is a bit of a hassle. Great images and tons of fun.

Comments about Lensbaby Scout Fisheye Lens for Canon EF:

Tried it on my Canon 6D. It produces a circle on full frame cameras with dark paddings. Picture quality is definitely not the best, but being a fish eye at this price you can't really complain. Good enough for fun purpose IMHP. The manual focusing makes things a little bit difficult if you photograph moving things like kids or pets. But again, at this toy price I would recommend you try it out if you keep dreaming of a fish eye lens but don't want to spend that money, like me.

Comments about Lensbaby Scout Fisheye Lens for Canon EF:

I've been interested in trying a fisheye lens but didn't want to invest a lot of money since I didn't think I would use it enough to justify the expensive. But when I saw this lens on sale I thought I would give it a try. It was a fraction of the cost of other fisheye lenses and so far I have been having a lot of fun with it. I have been very impressed by the macro and how close I can get to my subjects. Had to be careful when photographing my baby niece because I was viewing through the viewfinder and didn't realize I was close enough for her to grab the lens but it made for a great photo. When photographing objects I can be within 2 inches and still be in focus. If you want the distortion of the fisheye you have to get in close otherwise it just looks like a wide angle lens. I have a full frame sensor so you see the barrel of the lens giving it that circular black frame you expect from a fisheye I think it gives it an interesting look that separates it from other lenses. You can get solar flares which can add color to the circular black frame which I also like. I've used this for light painting and it gets that flare too. I've used the Scout with the super wide angle lens and liked that it was centered with a Lensbaby composer a slight tilt can dramatically alter the sweet spot so I like knowing it will be centered with the Scout. This is my favorite Lensbaby purchase. I am very happy with it.

For me a fisheye is not an essential lens although I have always wished for one. I shoot with a Canon 7D and L lenses. If you are in the same boat and don't want to spend the big bucks on a fisheye I'd say "go for it" because it is fun. To be fair I will say is is VERY nicely built so I'm changing my initial three stars to four. For the extra few bucks I did opt for the case which is quite rugged.

Comments about Lensbaby Scout Fisheye Lens for Canon EF:

I bought this lens as a compromise to the more expensive Canon to hold me over, and to try out the lensbaby brand. I love the fact that I have a fisheye for a fraction of the Canon lens and I like how it makes you be more creative with it's use. Using it on a full frame camera, you get the full effect of seeing the barrel of the lens in the image, the con is that if you are not careful, you will flare the entire lens and see the barrel. Which is fine for a creative look, but if you want the image framed in all black, you need to adjust. Also the focus is completely manual and I tend to have a hard time focusing in it's intermediate range.

Comments about Lensbaby Scout Fisheye Lens for Canon EF:

So for me, this is just kind of a gimicky lens I got as a present, but have found it to be very fun in trying to think "outside the box" and be creative. Most of my pictures up until now have been of people (family, kids etc..) so this lens kinda forces me to develop my creative side. Now, as an actual fisheye lens, I guess I'm happy with the results. I don't own another to compare it to, but for [$] I guess you can't really go wrong. With the optic swap system Lensbaby employs, it's also versatile and can accomidate other lens in their lineup, recently bought the plastic lens for ~$40, and can pop it in in 10 seconds. Now, if I find myself enjoying this type of photography, maybe at some point I'll upgrade to an offering from Canon or Sigma that has AF and more easily adjustable apertures (easily the most annoying thing about these lenses, and the reason for only 4 stars). One thing I do love is the crazy close focusing distance.. so this really doubles as a macro lens as well, as the distortion is least in the middle and close up.All together a good start on being more creative and seeing the world differently through my camera.

This is a FUN and CREATIVE lens, plain and simple. Anyone would find hundreds of ideas and subject for Scout. The extreme 12mm fisheye lens gives one a very unique view of the world and the subject.

For the price, auto focus is of course, non existent. Your diopter should be bang on for the Scout. It does take some getting used to not hearing the camera's focus beeps and 100% rely on your own vision.

I use this lens for fun photos, at the beach at the pool and just to get a different view on the world.
