Comments about Benro C-0681 Travel Angel CF Tripod (Trans-Functional) W/B00 Ballhead:

After doing some research, and getting some recommendations, I finally picked this tripod as a good balance between stability and light weight as well as small size. I haven't used it a lot yet, but I did use it for some long night exposures, and support while shooting fire spinners and it performed wonderfully for those purposes. I like that it's Arca-Swiss compatible, now I just need to buy the L-bracket for my camera and it'll be even easier and quicker to get it on and off.

I will say, if I had any big telephoto lenses, this would NOT be the tripod, and especially not the head for that.

Comments about Benro C-0681 Travel Angel CF Tripod (Trans-Functional) W/B00 Ballhead:

This tripod is lightweight and sturdy, which are the most important facts. No problems with a Nikon D800 plus a standard zoom lens.
However it lacks some important details like:
        - you can't screw or unscrew the quick release plate with your bare hands (the screw has no wings and you'll need either a large screwdriver or an allen key which is included) That makes a quick change of your setup impossible. Don't forget tools if you go out shooting!
        - I wish the center pole was divided which would allow for at least 6 inches less minimum height.
        - The monopod is a nice idea but with a max height of 49" it's not really usable for an adult. And did I mention that you have to use a tool again to turn it into a monopod?
        - The spiked feet have to be attached with a wrench in case you want to use them (the wrench is not included). I wish you could just pull or twist them out of the legs.
        - The manual suggests a product warranty registration at http://www.benrousa.com/warranty which doesn't return any browser results but an error message. I was able to locate the registration by browsing the main website of benrousa.com but it still leaves a bitter taste. Come on people at Benro, setting up an HTML redirect on a page you don't use anymore to the new page is not rocket science but simple customer service.

After all I have to say, considering the hefty price tag, I was expecting a better product and I would not recommend spending that much money on this tripod.

Comments about Benro C-0681 Travel Angel CF Tripod (Trans-Functional) W/B00 Ballhead:

This tripod and its ballhead are nicely constructed. Even the bag which comes with it is high quality - it's made of a substantial ballistic nylon, with a carrying strap. The four-piece legs have two detents, one for normal use and the other for shooting low. Although they spread out pretty far at the lower level, the centre column is long, so the lowest level you can mount your camera horizontally is 17 1/2 inches. However, by reversing the column, you can mount the camera on the ballhead right to ground level. The camera is then upside down, so you'll have to flip your images in LR or similar.I measured the maximum height it can hold a camera at 60 3/4 inches. There is a convenient hook on the column so you can hang your camera bag for added stability at these heights. The ballhead is very secure and I can mount my 7D with a 580 EX II flash horizontally without problem. I also like the Arca-Swiss style plate because it can be secured without play. This compatibility also extends your options for mounting your camera for panoramas etc. Most peole will buy this tripod for its portability during their travels. The carrying bag measures only 18 1/2 inches, and its light weight makes it ideal for this.Yes, a CF tripod is expensive, but it will last you through many camera upgrades.

Comments about Benro C-0681 Travel Angel CF Tripod (Trans-Functional) W/B00 Ballhead:

I bought this tripod because I have physical limitations that require the lightest tripod possible. The Travel Angel suits me perfectly and comes in its own very cool travel bag. I had returned a competitor brand because it wasn't light enough and I was having trouble manipulating the flip-lock legs. The Benro twist locks are not only easy to manipulate they are fast & make setup a snap. My only observation (I won't call it a complaint) is the ballhead slips just a bit. This may not actually be a problem though because it may be that I am unable to finger tighten it enough because of hand strength issues. Overall, I am very pleased.

Comments about Benro C-0681 Travel Angel CF Tripod (Trans-Functional) W/B00 Ballhead:

After using a heavy steel tripod for a year this light-weight tripod is a joy to use.

The tripod very solid up until about 4 feet in height and then reasonably solid when extended to it's full height. I use it with a Canon 5D + 24-70 lens for landscape panoramas shots and the ballhead has absolutely no problem with that weight of gear with the camera either vertical or horizontal.

The only negative thing I have to say about the tripod is that the legs don't seem to lock at all angles. This means using the tripod on a steep slope has to be done carefully to avoid knocking the legs.

This new Benro Travel Angel makes a good tripod even better. The convertible monopod makes this a no brainer to take on every weekend and business trip. While this is perfect pair for a Leica X1 or M9 or a Sony NEX-5, I wouldn't recommend this model for anything heavier. The ballhead is pretty small, but that's also what makes this tripod so attractive.
