Well designed strap, contoured & padded for comfort even when carrying a D800 camera and heavy lens. Camera is very accessible at all times and easily & quickly moved to eye level for shooting. Being a conservative engineer I did add a safety strap, as shown in the photo below, in case the tripod screw accidently backs out.(never has happened but just being cautious)

The strap is well designed, but BlackRapid uses cheap, knock-off parts instead of industry standard ITW Nexus brand parts. The main ladderloc [that adjusts the length of the strap] is a non brand-name part and on my copy, it slips miserably. BlackRapid's support was useless; they told me to tighten the underarm strap which of course I'd already tried. What bothers me is we're talking about cents here. This is an $80 camera strap - come on BlackRapid!

Because I like the strap [other than this major flaw], I went-out and purchased a brand-name ITW Nexus "ladderloc" [cost me $0.25] and reinstalled - now it works as it should with zero slippage. I can hang my 1D X and a 70-200 f/2.8 off this thing without any issues. For those of you that don't quite trust the attachment point, I made a tether that runs through the hand-strap mount and attaches to the strap's carabiner - gives an extra margin of safety.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

The strap sure takes the strain off your neck. The camera travel limiters are good to keep the camera tucked behind you while you walk. They can easily be released to allow the camera fee movement.Added the Lockstar more to protect the camera than an additional carabiner security feature.Don't care for the underarm-strap. When you lift the camera & bend down/over the pad tend to slide off your shoulder unless the under-arm strap is pulled tight. Bunches up your clothes & feels uncomfortable. I solved this problem by removing the underarm strap & replacing it with my camera neck strap going across my chest under my right arm connecting to the back of the shoulder pad. It hangs relatively loosely but holds the left pad on your shoulder without binding or bunching your clothes.IMO save your money. Buy the regular strap & use your neck strap as described above.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

I bought this to carry my long lenses and couldn't be happier with it. It keeps the camera right at my hip where it's both easily accessible and out of the way when out of use. The padded shoulder strap has the added benefit of holding my other camera strap onto my shoulder more securely...strap isn't going to slide it's way over that shoulder strap. And I'm able to move around, crouch, squat, lean, etc. without worrying about the BlacRapid allowing the camera it's holding to get too far from my body.In a word: yes. In 35 words: the BlackRapid is absolutely everything it's cracked up to be. If you need to strap onto your longer lenses or just for added flexibility and convenience when carrying two cameras, you need one of these.

      My Black Rapid Sling

The sling is great. Although the mounting stud has to be removed each time camera needs to be placed flat on table. Leaving it in makes it unstable on any surface.

      The perfect strap

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

You can with great comfort easilly carry a 2 kg (5 pound) equipment. IF you are on a Photo walk you dont have to open and close your camera bag every time you should take a photo. You will demount the original strap. You should complement with a wrist strap to use for safety when you not are using the shoulder strap. IT works perfect to combine this strap with a Tamraq sling pack since they have different center points.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

I asked Scott Kelby about BlackRapid straps at a seminar recently and he said he found them very reliable. I agree. This one has an extra strap that attaches under your arm to make sure it stays in place. I used it for the first time on a photo walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and in DUMBO recently and found that I could easily swing the camera into action. In addition, it held the camera very securely.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

I've been using a jury-rigged strap cobbled together from a neoprene Lowe strap and an old Domke strap. The Lowe portion distributes weight through a wide, flexible neck band. The Domke quick release ends connect to the camera lugs and adds enough length so I can wear it cross-body, messenger-bag style, on either shoulder and even carry the camera on my back; a comfortable arrangement I've been happy with for years.I recently bought a 70-200mm F2.8 Sony  about 3 lbs.; with the camera body close to 4.5 lbs. altogether. All this weight mandated a new strap. I'd read that the advised way to attach this much weight to a strap is via the tripod mount on the lens, and not the strap lugs on the camera body. This way the weight is transmitted to the tripod mount and not to the lens mount of the camera body  the dog (properly) wagging the tail and not vice versa, so-to-speak.The Black Rapid Sport seemed to fit the bill. A little pricey, but a relative pittance compared to the investment in camera equipment. The build quality and materials seem sound (I was able to see one "in the flesh" before buying) and the reviews 98% favorable. However, the few stories of failures were enough to induce me to get the "safety" peripherals to mitigate accidental disconnect if not insure a failsafe strap. With so much invested in equipment, I decided the "belt AND suspenders" approach was prudent. The carabiner lock seemed a good idea though at ca. $ a little expensive. And why do we have to buy 2? Why isn't this included with the base strap? As if to add insult to injury, I discovered that when used with the Manfroto plate tripod bolts ($), it impedes the swing of the carabiner arm just enough to make it troublesome to connect the carabiner into the bale of the bolt. Disconnecting is equally difficult; I couldn't do it with one hand. Part of the problem is that the bale must swing freely so as to lie flat when attaching to a tripod, but this makes it hard to just "click" the carabiner into it since it moves. Ultimately, I wondered if the lock is necessary at all; how serious a failure point is the carabiner? Seems to me it would be difficult to inadvertently disconnect from the tripod bolt even if carabiner lock becomes unscrewed, especially since the spring loaded release must be pushed in to open the carabiner. Carabiners are, after all, a standard item in mountain climbers' kits to which they entrust their lives. I'm throwing caution to the wind and not using the lock.I bought the tether kit, also pricey at $. Again, why 2 straps and 2 (different) carabiners? I realize Black Rapid makes a dual strap, but shouldn't there be a purchase option for those of us with the single strap? There's precious little information in the enclosed literature, though there is a good instructional video on You Tube from BR. One end of the tether is attached to a strap lug on the camera (the non-grip side) and one of the carabiners is then threaded through the other end of the tether. The video suggests that the carabiner can then be attached to belt loop on one's pants, or hooked to the strap's carabiner, or directly to the strap itself. Inelegant and lots of work and trouble, and I'm not sure I want to rely on the belt loop of (some of) my pants, especially if switching from large lens' tripod mount to prime lens (and the camera's tripod mount) very often. The tether is ostensibly a hedge against the possibility that the BR's bolt will come out of the tripod mount. I haven't had enough experience to give an informed opinion about this, but a few 4- hour walk-around shooting sessions using the tripod mounts on both the 70-200mm and the camera, and the bolt(s) seem stone-locked into the mount(s). Slightly wetting the rubber on the tripod plate / bolt (BR's suggestion) seems to give a solid union. As soon as I can get myself to habitually and reflexively check the bolt from time to time during a shoot, I will jettison the tether; one less thing to remember / bother with. The strap? Oh yeah, the strap (talk about the tail wagging the dog). Smart design; much quicker and easier to get the camera to the eye than a conventional camera-lug strap. Weight is distributed evenly through the shoulder not the neck. I like the brakes, especially the one in the back, that control movement along the strap. Properly arranged, the brake automatically repositions the strap on the neck if it moves in the process of swinging the camera up to shoot. The strap seems more than long enough to find a comfortable position for the camera on the hip (I'm 6'); mine has found a nice spot to nestle without bouncing around while I'm walking. The camera is held in an upside down position and the hand finds the grip quickly and easily. I used to be in the habit of holding my camera by the lens, up and at the ready; the weight of the 70-200 makes this impractical, BR's strap obviates the need.Four stars would've been five but for the marketing / pricing / packaging / design anomalies of the peripherals.

When I first received my BlackRapid Sport Strap I thought I'd need to return it as I was having trouble getting it to work. (In fact I was going to return it.) After trying some other slings at a local retailer I opted to cut-off the under arm strap. Between that and adjusting bumpers differently it now fits very well! I selected the sport strap because I wanted a continuous sewn on strap rather than one that used plastic connectors. I know the Curve can be made longer with a "Brad" but I was concerned for the security of my equipment as plastic fasteners are now where near as strong as the caribineer that holds the camera.

I normally shoot with Nikon DX with a 35-70 lens. The normal neck strap after a short time has really bothered my neck and posture. Did some research and the RS Sport seem to be the best solution even though I thought it was priced higher then competition. After a few short weeks I am 100% satisfied & pleased with the RS Sport and fell there is value in the price!

With the camera comfortably hanging by your side you can move freely and put the camera at eye level at ease. It's quite a step up from the traditional around the neck camera strap. Very pleased with this product.

•has good resting position with heavier lenses (i.e. Nikon 17-55 f2.8)
•lighter lenses don't sit as well when camera is in resting position
•easy to connect, disconnect camera from strap
•happy I got the BR Lockstar Carabiner Protector--feels like its more secure; I trust it more when hanging at my side
•very comfortable--even when worn for longer periods of time
•took a couple 2+ hour hikes with this strap--had not problem, felt just as good at the end as the beginning of the hike

                      Definitely would recommend

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

This strap is comfortable and does the job. After much research I decided that this was the best upgrade to my standard strap. The build quality and ergonomics are worth the higher price point. I use it in all of my outdoor shoots for portraits and landscape photography. My camera is always fast to draw and the strap is comfortable for many hours. I am confident that this strap system will not fail.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Black):

This is a great camera strap for anyone looking to upgrade from your stock strap. It is lite, comfortable, and makes drawing the camera up to shoot a breeze. Black Rapid likes to market this as an extreme sport strap but that it is not or at least I wouldn't use it as such. I don't know about you but I'm not peddling down a extreme mountain bike track with $5000 worth of gear dangeling from my shoulder. But for a working professional or a casual shooter this strap hits the mark.

Comments about RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap (Camo):

Neck straps with a heavier set up of camera and lens can be uncomfortable. The Black Rapid line of straps has solved that issue for me. My camera and 28-300 mm lens that I use primarily when traveling have a combined weight of about 3.6 lbs. With this Black Rapid strap, fatigue is no longer a factor for a day of shooting.

It is ok only if you carry the camera on the side, any other position it just don't feel well.
