The NEC NP-M300X Portable XGA Projector works equally well in the media room, classroom or meeting room. Its 3,000 lumens and 2,000:1 contrast ratio provide a rich, vivid picture in a variety of projection environments.
Its native resolution is XGA (1,024 x 768) but it can also scale images in the VGA, SVGA, WXGA, SXGA, SXGA+ and UXGA resolutions. It can also project video images in the NTSC, NTSC4.43, PAL, PAL-60, PAL-M, PAL-N and SECAM television standards. In addition it can handle both 720p and 1080i high definition programming. And its 100 - 240V AC, 50 / 60 Hz power supply makes is useable just about anywhere in the world.
The NP-M300X has lots of features you can appreciate while you're in the same room with it too. Setup is easy thanks to Keystone Correction which automatically squares up your image while Autosense detects and syncs the projector with most computers. The Virtual Remote Tool software that comes with the projector allows you to control it from your laptop when you connect them with the VGA cable that's included. No other cabling is required. And if you want to leave your laptop behind, the USB Viewer feature allows you to screen program material accessed from a USB drive. You can even project images onto objects like spheres or cylinders or into corners via the Geometric Correction function. The Active Lens Cover acts like a pause shutter in case you want to halt video and audio briefly to illustrate a point. While there's a powerful 10W built-in speaker, there's also a variable audio output for an external speaker in case you need to reach a larger crowd. The NP-M300X's wide connectivity also includes HDMI, a monitor output and USB.
You can also monitor and control the NP-M300X from just about anywhere in the world there's a connection to the Internet. That's because this projector is network ready. Plug it into your LAN via its RJ-45 jack and you can remotely monitor and control it from anywhere on your local network or across the Internet. You can even have it email you when it detects a fault or the projector lamp is nearing the end of its life. Closed Captioning, from program sources that provide it, is ideal for the hearing-impaired or for any noisy environment like gyms, trade shows or conventions. One of the NP-M300X's most important features is its energy efficiency. In ECO mode lamp life shoots up to 6,000 hours while fan noise drops from 34dB to a minimal 27dB.
The NP-M300X actually has a carbon savings meter that can optionally project session and total CO2 emissions saved due to ECO mode use at the beginning and end of each presentation when ECO mode is used. You can turn ECO mode off and on with one button on the remote. Other energy saving features include quick start (three to four seconds) and quick shutdown (which requires no additional cool-down time after the projector is turned off). In addition the projector can turn on automatically when it detects a computer signal and turn off automatically when it detects no signal from any input.
Power, professional features and functionality at a very reasonable price make the NEC NP-M300X hard to beat.

Comments about NEC NP-M300X Portable XGA LCD Projector:
I use this LCD projector with an ELMO document camera for an Algebra class, demonstrating problems using colored markers for students to take notes. Bright enough to keep the lights on and blinds open, but another 200-400 lumens would be better. Focuses nicely, sharp, except the bottom of the screen is a tiny bit blurry when in full zoom on graph paper. It has a much quieter fan than my previous Sharp and quickly finds input devices. USB is painfully slow loading photos.

Installed projector in our church fellowship hall for vacation Bible School program. Wow! What a hit. This thing is a no brainer to set up. Took only minutes for this "smart" machine to have a top quality image on our wall.

Comments about NEC NP-M300X Portable XGA LCD Projector:
I read MANY review in my hunt to purchase my next projector. I have an Epson Home Theater projector I use in my living room, which I love dearly and has served me faithfully for many years, but I needed a Projector that could hold up in travels since I do lots of conventions and it HAD to be BRIGHT!
I finally settled on getting the Nec NP-M300X. Oh my gods! It is EVERYTHING I hoped it would be! It is bright! It has every connection I could possibly ask for and it is very portable!
While I hosted my panels I used the VGA connection with my laptop and it worked flawlessly. Then, the convention chairman (a good buddy of mine) actually asked if they could use my projector instead of theirs since it was SO much more brighter and could throw such a bigger picture.
Afterwords, at night, while we where at our convention booth, we wondered if we could throw an image up on the wall (approx 50 feet away) near the ceiling about 70 feet high. This is NOT an easy feat for a projector as you have to jack with the key stone to get the image to display correctly. The M300X pulled it off with out any trouble. It was SO easy to do! Just a few clicks on the keystone adjusters and it was perfectly aligned! Amazing! And it was bright! We ended up hooking up a PS3 and playing MvC3 for hours! It attracted such a huge crowd to our booth - totally worth every penny spent on the projector!
Speaking of which - the price is perhaps the most amazing aspect of all! Under $1000?!?! For all the features it has, for the ease of use, the brightness, and the portability - That's a STEAL!
My one complaint is that when we showed video clips of footage that had extremely bright images of like-colors, it tended to bleed them together. So, white, beige, ivory, etc all merged together. On the other hand, this IS a media projector and I AM used to my Epson's 10,000:1 contrast ratio, so I noticed the picture quality dip a lot more than most others would.
Also, I had a hard time hooking up my speakers to this projector from it's "out" speaker port. I think it's just because I need to fiddle around with it more? Usually I just hook up the speakers to the source media, but I had to do it differently with the PS3 and an HDMI cable. I'm pretty sure I can set the PS3 to re-route the sound through an A/V cable next time though...
Anyways, If I want the best picture quality, I'll use my current Epson. If I want EVERYTHING else, I'll use the M300X at the drop of a hat.
If you need a portable, lightweight, BRIGHT, dependable, projector for conferences, panels, conventions, classrooms, etc - then THIS is the projector to get hands down.

Comments about NEC NP-M300X Portable XGA LCD Projector:
Mounted the projector in the sanctuary, plugged it in, and it was off to the races. Great picture. Pure and crisp. Made the existing Eiki next to it look very sad, even though the specs were almost identical.
Had to look up the Eco function and yet there is no printed instruction manual. All instructions are on DVD these days - which just slows up installation time.
Someday, in a not too distant galaxy, a manufacturer will come up with an auto-sensing gyroscopic video projector that is smart enough to know that it is mounted to the ceiling instead of to a table. It is so hard to read upside down while trying to find the invert feature you'd have thought that if Apple could do this in a phone, why then couldn't a video projector manufacturer?

We bought this projector to replace a projector that was hit my lightning. It was easy to install and operate. it has a small size but 3000 lumen. We were able to make the necessary adjustments to the picture and keystone without any trouble.
For the price this is a really good unit with a great picture quality.
So far we have not found anything about the unit that we don't like.
