Bought this bag for bringing a fair amount of gear on vacation without being too problematic for flights/ trains. We pack light enough to avoid checking baggage with airlines and to make train-hopping around Europe less cumbersome. We bring 1 medium duffel per person + 1 "personal item". My wife uses her "personal item" to bring the extras that don't fit in the duffels and I bring this with our gear. Easy, but still packs everything we want to bring.

I really like that the bag stands up on its own both empty and full of gear, but that does make it a bit wide and since the bottom is padded, it doesn't collapse down well.

I also appreciate that the bag doesn't blatantly scream "I'm a camera bag! Come and take me!" It's obvious you're carrying a substantial amount of stuff, but it's better than a Canon bag.

The shoulder strap is fine but not stellar; I'd have appreciated a longer padded section.

The handle is attached near the seam of the back and the flap, which is a small comfort because the bag won't drop too far or tilt sideways much if you go to pick it up but forgot to clip it shut.

The main clip is also a bit different than what I was used to with a typical bag. The prongs that you squeeze to release are not covered when the clip is secured (the female end of the clip is much shorter than the prongs). This makes it easy to open but I found it tricky at first to close it one-handed while wearing the bag.

To get the most of it, I have two packing configurations for this bag.

For the actual traveling, I stick my tripod in the duffel and fit the rest into this bag: 5Dmkii, 50mm 1.4, 16-35mm 2.8L, 70-200mm 2.8L 2, and remote shutter release go in the main compartment; memory cards, spare battery, charger, and couple of filters go in the front pocket. I also carry a little 13-14 inch laptop that fits in the laptop compartment nicely.

While out and about, I have a holster-style shoulder bag that I put the camera body in with whichever lens I have on at the time and use the extra space in the Rally 7 to hold my tripod and ball head. The tripod JUST BARELY fits (with the head taken off), laid across the top. It's a Gitzo 1542T so it's admittedly more compact than a lot of other tripods. For something even a couple inches larger, I'd rig up some tripod loops on the outside of the bag or look for a bag that has them built-in.

It took some doing at first to get organized but everything fits snugly. Of course, packing all that in ends up weighing a fair bit for a messenger style bag as opposed to a backpack, but it is secure, reasonably well-padded, and everything is accessible from the hip.

    Tight for a Pro-size Camera

I returned this bag because it, it was too tight for what I prefer. But if I had a non gripped camera, this is a very functional bag.

Comments about 3447 Rally 7 Camera/Laptop Bag (Brown with Tan):

I was very impressed with the quality of this bag. Very heavy duty, and easily holds all of my gear (large flash, two lenses and my body) - I plan on getting a large telephoto lens next, and possibly one other lens and this bag was the perfect size for me to expand my camera gear and stay useful for a very long time. The strap is comfortable, and the velcro flap makes it easy to quickly pull out the camera on the go if you leave the buckle undone while still keeping everything secure.

I am rating this 4 stars now, since I have not used it very long - but see no reason why once I add to my collection this would change to a 5 star item.

Compared to other bags, this was worth the price, and I am very pleased with the quality of this bag - looking forward to many years of use!

Comments about 3447 Rally 7 Camera/Laptop Bag (Black):

I bought this to carry more than one lens and a flash with my canon 5D mark II to location shoots. It is big enough for that and can carry an Ipad or laptop. I would prefer that it close better. The long flap has a clip at the bottom that I find difficult to access and hard to use. The velcro works but if the clip is not closed and the bag is picked up by the handle it may fall open. I like the overall size and length of the shoulder strap.

This is the perfect bag for anything; travel, casual shooting, you name it. Not only can you place your camera conveniently by your side, but it is extremely versatile. There has got to be well over a hundred combinations to choose from. Weather it be 2 cameras and a laptop, one camera and a lot of accessories or no cameras at all. Oh did I mention laptop compartment? This thing has it all. I could go on all day, but just know that this thing really is "the perfect bag."

I use this bag to carry my Canon T3 with a Tamron 17-50mm lens attached, plus 2 Nikon SB-28s, with room to spare. I also travel with a 13" Macbook Pro and a few accessories. Great bag for walking around with the essentials, and doesn't look too much like a camera bag.

I use this bag at urban locations for portraits and will probably use it for weddings instead of one of my larger bags.
It's roomy, well-built and spacious enough for my 24-105, 70-200, Speedlight, wide prime lens and body. Plenty of room for extra CF cards, batteries, paperwork and IPad.
I do wish they would beef-up the carrying handle provided for occassional hand carry.

As pointed out in other reviews, this is a large bag. It will be great for traveling. It will hold 2 camera bodies, 3+ lenses, and more. My laptop is 15" wide and fits in the bag as if it was made for it. It will also carry my Kindle, ipod, point and shoot, extra battery, and accessories. However, I would not take this bag to a location where I would do a lot of walking: hiking
